Do not stay at this place. It is a total rip off & all the staff are terrible. Questioned the rate they gave me & we were asked to check-out & leave the property or else. I have read many comments about how bad the breakfast & staff are...and guess what....they are all true. Avoid this rat hole like a will be glad you did.

My mother and I stayed at the Key West Inn in Hamilton, AL in April 2019 on the way to FL for vacation. Thankfully they have 1 pet-friendly room and allowed us to rent it. It cost $140 which seems high to me, but seems normal for this area. They charge $20/pet usually but gave us a 2-for-1 discount. The room was clean. The TV didn't work properly. All of the channels were fuzzy and the screen said "analog". I called the front desk and the lady working was very eager to fix the problem. However, it was already evening-time and the man who fixes such issues might not have been available until after 9 pm so I told her not to worry about it. I hope they fixed it before the next guest checked in. The room was clean with a microwave and refrigerator provided which was very important because one of our dogs is insulin-dependent and the insulin must be refrigerated. The mattresses were not comfortable, unfortunately. The breakfast was packaged sweet rolls and coffee, neither of which tasted good. Thankfully there is a Huddle House directly next door so we ate breakfast there. Because this hotel was clean and pet-friendly, we would usually stay here again, but the cost of the room was off-putting.

Stayed one night rm good, but continental breakfast was coffee juice, pastry that's it. Plus the ladies restroom out of order and lost keys to restrooms.lobby was roped off last night when we got here. Really???

Don’t do it. You’ll thank me later. $100+ for a smoking double room (all that was available, allegedly) and when I say smoking, I can’t tell you how bad this room smelled. Let’s discuss the “breakfast” that was available. 3 bagels and a wrapped danish. Seriously. Last straw for me was the argumentative manager over the coffee being ready. She made 3 guests put the coffee pot down because the green ready light hadn’t come on yet. That button means ready to brew the next pot! Argh!!

Carmen at check in was wonderful! The rooms are nice and clean. Could hear a bit of noise from the next door room but not too bad. Breakfast has been better on previous stays. Could use some yogurt and fruit added to the bagel and packaged sweet rolls. A bit pricy for what it is but on the whole very good.

I stopped for a night and was charged one fee $85 and a second fee of $100 on my credit card ... called the next morning and the lady working said she could not help ( took my name and number ) , no call waited and called the evening shift ( who overcharged me ) and it was the same clerk saying it was my banks fault. There is nothing she can do . So overall both clerks that work here are very ignorant and not trained and I was charged twice on my card .... so beware .... and one exit down there is a newly renovated motel 6 for $20 less and much nicer ... this place was disgusting!!! Old cheap danishes and the worst coffee ever .....the clerk I dealt with barely spoke English and should not be left alone .... BEWARE this is a bad choice

My son and I toured around Alabama and stayed here on our travels. We got the room booked online however it took forever to check in. We were really tired and just wanted to rest. There was someone vaccuming in the hallway - mind you this was late in the evening and it was disturbing. The rooms smelled of old cigarette smoke and heavy cleaner even though they were supposed to be non-smoking. The decor upon entering as well as the outside appearance leads you to believe it is a higher class motel. If I'm going to stay at a cheap motel I would like to know it. I was not impressed.

A real nice place to stay. Rooms were great, good beds soft pillows. Quite room slept well. Good night's sleep and back on the road. Had breakfast right next door. Gas station was in front of motel. This place has it all. Would recommend to stay. I will be back......

Bought & paid for room on hotwire. Check in took 20 minutes (it was already paid for?). Clerk asked for a credit or debit card which was fine...I reminded him I had already paid for the room and asked it he was going to charge my card. He said they just authorize it to make sure it is valid but don't charge it anything. Okay. Went out to get our bags from the car and as I walked in, he said he had one more paper for me to sign. I'd been in the car 14 hours, was tired, was carrying 2 bags, needed to go potty so I said okay and signed the paper. As I did so, the female manager slid a folded piece of paper over to me and said, "here's your receipt." I walked upstairs and my husband was outside our non-smoking room asking me to breathe in. Ugh. Smoke. So he went downstairs and told the lady manager our room was supposed to be non-smoking. She said it was but someone with smoke on their clothes must have walked in the room. (It smelled like an ashtray??). But she did give us another room which smelled fine. We went to dinner and came back. Checked our bank account and there was a $200 authorization on our bank card from the motel. Called the lady manager and asked why they did that after assuring us they would not...she just kept saying it was our bank, it was our bank. Now, to be fair, most motels do authorize a small amount to be sure you've given them a valid card and to cover incidentals like room service, ect. But $200? The Key West Inn does not have room service (they barely have breakfast) and unless I was going to rent (yes, rent) their laundry facilities for 40 hours I couldn't have run up $200 in a 10-12 hour stay if I tried. Remember, the room was already paid for. I suddenly remembered the piece of paper they'd had me sign as I went upstairs. I unfolded it and sure it enough, it was a receipt for a $200 authorization on my card. We were livid...I just wanted to leave right then but we went to bed and tried to sleep. Our new room was below a heavy footed man who got up often to go to the bathroom, all of which we could hear, and every time I got woke up, I got angry again. Just say, we didn't get much sleep. When we got up, we went to get breakfast...our choice of two bagels or a celophane wrapped sweet roll and coffee. WOW! We passed on the breakfast and asked the male manager if he would come to our room and check it out as we wanted him to sign off on the condition. When he got there, he continued to lie to us that the Key West Inn did not determine the amount of the authorization and that it was our bank. He said all motels do this (They don't, we stay in motels 60-80 nights per year on business. I also called our bank and asked them and they said the amount of the authorization was up to the motel). We packed our bags and left...the manager never would sign my receipt. I started reading reviews of the place after we left. There are many complaints about these same issues...wish I had read them before I booked. And I wish I'd read the paper they slid across to me before I signed...they were definitely prepared with their excuses when confronted about the charge. "It's your bank." From the reviews, I also learned that they also like to charge you extra if they think you took a towel or even soiled one, think you smoked in the room (thank goodness we switched from the first room) or did anything else they could charge you for, all after you leave. The manager claims to have cameras to watch you from every angle and even says his employees wear body cameras in a reply to one review. (????) So, I would definitely advise you to go one more exit south and stay at the Holiday Inn Express. That's what we will be doing next time.

We stopped here for the night on a recent trip to Arkansas. The name is probably what catches a lot of peoples eye and the decor lives up to it. The lobby is kind of beachy, but not in an overblown kitchy way. The rooms themselves are pretty standard motel fare, but everything is clean. The beds were comfortable, but one of the things I didn't like were the little pillows. Seems like a lot of motels are going with smaller than usual pillows now, probably to save a little money, but I'm not a fan. When we checked in the clerk was very nice, same at check out. The rates are just a little high in my opinion, but then I'm old and think a lot of things are too high!! All in all, this is a nice motel and if I'm ever back that way I'll stay there again.
