Grand Hyatt Guangzhou5.0 out of 5.0

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Guangzhou in April 2018 while I was there for the Canton Fair. The hotel is a modern, high rise hotel very common to the Guangzhou luxury hotel scene. There is an abundance of staff at every station- entrance, army of door men, concierge and housekeeping. We had a room on the club level so we had access to the club lounge that had snacks all day and breakfast and dinner like food offering. The club lounge was invaluable after a long day pounding the pavement at the Canton Fair. In the first room (1918) on the 19th floor we had a great view of the city and specifically the Mall of the World. Guangzhou on a clear night is bedazzled with lights on skyscrapers. We left GUangzhou for a quick touristy trip to Beijing. The second days at the Grand Hyatt was just as great in terms of service. However, since it was raining in Guangzhou the room we were assigned to had a terrible wet odor. I called the concierge and Chloe helped me immediately change rooms to a better smelling room with a nicer view. The room had a slight odor as well but I dont think the staff could have done anything more about it. The staff who welcomed us also negotiated with a taxi driver who tried to swindle us for a few extra RMB. Highly recommend Room 1918. Rooms on the 21st floor will hear footsteps from the lobby located on the 22nd floor. The location of the hotel was excellent I couldn't ask for better. I would definitely recommend this hotel . I just hope they fix the HVAC/humidity issue when it rains.
I have been staying at the Grand Hyatt for over 9 years. This was the worst stay yet. Oversold the club floor making it almost impossible to get a table. Food just not up to standard with illness from one of the restaurants. But the biggest challenge was being approached by a Pimp in the lobby. The hotel did address this as well the large number of paid service women in the bar, but only after challenging. This hotel needs to get better than this!
I travel here at least 2 times a year for work and every time i really enjoy my stay. The staff, food and service is outstanding if your travelling to Guangzhou its a no brainer you must stay here and please try the steak at G restaurant
The location of the hotel is great. It stands in a modern and very green Park. The wifi connection was OK. The variety of food for Breakfast was very wide. A variety of restaurants and bars can be found within walking distance. The fitness centre is quiet small but fortunately not crowded. Almost all staff is able to speak english. I had a very disappointing problem during my stay that noone of the Chinese staff could solve for almost two days until Manager Patrick helped with the solution. I am very grateful to him.
Mold in the shower, severely scratched floors/walls/furniture, dirty curtains, AC vents and windows, outdated technology (iPhone 5 chargers in 2018!) and difficult front desk staff are what await you at the Grand Hyatt Guangzhou. Welcome to China! Oh dear! Think twice before booking this Grand Hyatt Hotel. They simply seemed to have stopped caring about maintenance a while ago here. Unfortunately, this hotel is badly in need of a full renovation. When I asked the front desk for a room that wasn’t so tiny and outdated (room 1022), I was told by Asst Manager Ophelia Qin that I would have to pay more money for a better room. No thanks - you should be paying me to stay here! When I explained that the room was very tired and looked very sad inside she had no reply but to offer me a similar room on a different floor - she said this room was an upgraded room! Ophelia’s response was not what I was hoping for and I can’t imagine what a non-upgraded/standard room looks like. All in all, I think the photos I just took do a fair job of capturing the state of the hotel room. PS - I’ve never seen $9.50USD (60 Yuan) bottled water before, but if you are thirsty this is the place to find it!
I love this hotel. All the workers are nice with the guest. Make me feel that I am at home. Really good breakfast. Close to the Canton Fair and in the middle of the City. Thank you for all your care. Aloha
Always a great stay...we prefer the rooms that have a view of the Guangzhou Tower. Nice rooms and very nice area to walk around. Short walk to the tower - beautiful at night with all the colorful lights. Take the river boat ride for more views.
We stayed on 2 separate occasions at Grand Hyatt. Booked as a group for 6 rooms. Centrally located just above a big underground mall and among banks. Rooms were big and we had a view overlooking the park in front with Guangzhou skyline. This hotel has it's lobby on the 22nd floor and rooms below. Facilities were good and we frequent the swimming pool and jacuzzi with its strong pounding force. The breakfast spread was wide covering Western and Eastern cuisines including dim sum, noodles, cereal and egg and sausage. You will be spoilt for choice. But after a few days of the same spread we were longing for a change. WiFi-we had free access to most webpages in our initial stay but when we returned for the second round it seems the hotel restricted access so much that Google and WhatsApp could not connect. Staff were generally friendly and courteous. As mentioned earlier there is a mall below the hotel, access through the park with lots of food, a supermarket and connected to the train station.
Grand Hyatt Guangzhou gave me a short and nice getaway experience. Being a explorist Hyatt member, it is glad in having a room upgraded to a Deluxe corner room with nice garden view. Staffs are nice. Location is very good, with steps away from metro, local attractions. Definitely will consider it again if I visit Guangzhou again
Was located at room 1615. Seems to be the trend now that lobby is located at the top floor so every1 can enjoy the splendid city view. The setting of my room was unique with the tab in the middle and the toilet located near the entrance.
