Firstly I’d like to say this is an ok choice for a business traveller looking for a cheapish option in GZ. However this is still advertised as a five star hotel on various booking sites, with a internationally reputable name like Sheraton the hotel it misses the mark. Firstly check-in. Our booking was paid for in advance and on arrival we were asked to pay a deposit, which is customary in China. The deposit itself was 3 times more than the actual cost of the room 3000 rmb! (475usd) After staying in various 5 star hotels in China this is roughly double the required deposit of the upper tier. Location isn’t great, nothing in the immediate area of interest. The room itself is clean, but in serious need of an update. The bed is hard sprung, and individual springs can be felt and heard. The tv is a very old lcd and there are no on-demand options. Toiletries are cheap, refillable soap and shampoo dispensers. We chose not to eat the breakfast- cheap Chinese imitation bacon, boiled sausages floating in water, burnt-bottom eggs with runny whites. The in-room dining options sounded appetising however items had been taken off the menu without update. The duty manager seemed to be surprised by this himself, his uncertainty and lack of knowledge of his own department prompted us to avoid this as well. The lobby bar was poorly stocked and overpriced, most of the western picks were sold out however the girl working on the bar was very attentive and polite. The plan for our first morning was to travel to Hong Kong by train. We called the receptionist to book a taxi for us. After 25 minutes without feedback called back for a update. I was told the booking had been passed on to the concierge and we would have to wait in the lobby. In the lobby we found the concierge who seemed to have no knowledge of our prior booking and we ended up thumbing a taxi down by the side of the road ourselves. This eventually caused us to miss our train resulting in a 2 hour wait in the station. Overall not a good experience, i have stayed in cheaper hotels in Guangzhou which were better.
Dropped in on the Four Points again and it felt like home. The old team (old friends) are still there and when you are on a first name basis, this is more than a business stay. Alicia, Loki and Vicki leads a solid front desk. Look forward to seeing you again soon.
used for the first time, only for one night and breakfast. Room completed with every you can need. Very high speed Wi Fi. Breakfast with a lot of offer I requested a room service and was good in terms of time and offer. staff very kind and available to help you
I like the Spacious and Clean room. Around the hotel and within the room, there is strong Free WIFI. Buffet Breakfast is not bad with quite a good spread, although it's more towards Local Chinese Food. Maybe it's not a peak period, the ambience within the restaurant is quite good. Do take a morning & evening walk around the area, you will enjoy & experience lives of the local people there.
Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. All the staff I encountered spoke good enough English. Service was as expected. Food quality from a la carte and room service menu was good. Breakfast was just OK. Most dishes that were supposed to be hot were almost cold. Something I still struggle with across Asia. Hotel location is a bit far from the city but is well connected in terms of public transport. I will try a different hotel for my next visit.
Stayed here for 3 nights to attend an exhibition at Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The hotel room was booked via the exhibition website, which has stated that a shuttle service will be provided between the hotel and the venue. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the hotel said that the exhibition organiser did not arrange for daily shuttle to the exhibition ground. Hence, it may be good to check with the hotel prior arrival. Nevertheless, it took only about 15min (RMB28) with smooth traffic to the exhibition ground but could take up to 40mins (RMB42) during rush hours. It was not easy to get a cab during rush hours, but the staff were very helpful and tried many ways to book via their apps. The alternative mode is to hitch a buggy ride (RMB2), which shuttled between the residential area behind the hotel and the nearby train station (Sanxi on Red Line 5). With 2 transfers from Sanxi station, change two stops later at Chelingnan (change to Green Line 4) and then, one stop later at Wanshengwei (change to Turquoise Line 8) and finally, alight the next stop at Pazhou. In the hotel's neighbourhood, there are some eateries that served cuisines from different Chinese provinces. There is a small shopping mall 乐都汇购物广场 with KFC, Pizza Hut, Watson and a supermarket, within a 10-minute walk past the residential area. The room is comfortable with full window panels, which brightens the room and creates a sense of spaciousness. The toilet is compact with standing rainfall shower and would have been better if it is bigger. The breakfast area is very packed but the staff endeavoured to help you locate a empty seat, though you may need to share the table with other guests on crowded mornings. Special commendation to Rem Han, who works at the concierge. A very helpful and sincere staff who takes on guests' problems as his own.
We switched our booking to this hotel after reading great reviews on Trip Advisor. We already had good expectations because of that but we were still pleasantly surprised by the following: - When we arrived after 2 in the morning, we were told the hotel was almost full and to put our two rooms as closely as together, we had to upgrade one of them to a suite so that they could be on the same floor. We happily obliged and, man, it was a suite in the corner with ceiling to floor windows on both sides open to great views of Guangzhou and Pearl River - We asked and found the hotel opened in 2009. After 8 years, the interior still looks new to our surprise. Both our suite and our children's room were new, clean and comfortable. The exterior is understandably gray and has lost its glamour after so many years in the hazy air - It's a 3 minute walk to many restaurants where you will find great and cheap food for all meals of the day. Our sons loved the steamed buns (xiaolongbao) and wantons there. Even though the restaurants inside the hotel were expensive (they target the business travelers), you don't have to dine there and options are plenty outside - Their Wifi doesn't block sites that are usually blocked in China because this is a business hotel BTW, the number of SPG points required here is less than elsewhere making it even more a good deal. Only one thing to complain, our sons' room smelled like a smoking room even though it was a non-smoking. I guess some guests were naughty and I am sure Mr Santa Claus will deal with that appropriately.
It simply meets the standards set by Sheraton hotels worldwide. Rooms are comfortable, there is free WiFi, and restaurant offers a great variety of both Asian & European dishes. It also features a really nice pub next to the lobby (ground floor) if you wish to have a pint in the hotel.
This is one of the better Four points, good enough to be a regular Sheraton. Concierge and reception is very attentive,Rooms are well appointed, east faces more open space. Breakfast is good. For dinner suggest you go to the 2nd floor for Chinese food, they have individual portions if you are dining alone. Gyms and pool are very good. shuttle to Canton fair is 20 mins in the morning, and int he evening can take 50 mins with traffic. They have a shuttle to the airport for RMB 24. they should put the schedule on the website for the airport times. There is an ATM in the lobby.
Booking this hotel through one site I found difficult to find a email to ask if there was a shuttle first time in china me and my sister got to airport we decided to take a taxi, avoid anyone offering taxi services when you are outside terminal look out for signs that will direct you to the taxi queue, also avoid car rental company who will offer you double the price on a taxi and they will always try to get you by saying that their taxis are the safest and charged us 400rmb which luckily we decided to go to the que and catched a taxi with meter and it cost us 177rmb also make sure to have your hotel address in chinese as no taxi driver understands English writing. Arrived at our hotel first day and everyone was very welcoming, I must say Ivo was very helpful and got along so well keep looking smart and handsome Ivo:).We had to register for Canton fair and found it really convenient as they had their booth in this hotel to register do we thought this was really smart and helpful especially for being in china first time. On our second night we had an issue with toilet it got stuck somewhere had someone come fix it the third day the toilet smell went worse and it stunk our whole room I went downstairs and made a complaint and Mr gayle I think was front office manager helped us moved us to the next room.2 nights in this room and same issue occurred so we complained again and they said to throw toilet paper in the rubbish which in our culture is disgusting we have advise them that we will call them anytime for someone to fix our toilet but I do hope management either get bigger toilets that can handle the toilet paper or invest into thin toilet papers. Other than this issue we had the most amazing time with the staff, they are so helpful alot speak English to you will have no trouble also would like to thank Lance and kupa for showing us the nearest local food stores just next door to the hotel, there is an alleyway next to the school there you find a convenient store or supermarket places you can eat and with 5minute walk you will also find a mall which you can purchase a sim card and also they have KFC and Pizza Hut. Me and my sister usually walk here for food.the locals in this area are very friendly. Alice who is one of the front desk managers is one of the most helpful ladies there is, I thank you Alice for always looking out and for having one of the concierge guys go with us to translate when buying our sim card. Thank you vidi for your help appreciate it alot. The breakfast at this hotel is amazing there's so much to pick from, thank you to dayna at the eatery for being very helpful. I will definitely stay at this place next time. For any Canton fair visitors this is the place to be as they have shuttles to take you to the fair back and fourth always reliable and have bottles of water for you before you leave and once you return. I highly recommend this place. The service and staff I met are amazing. I wish you all the lovely team at four points a very Merry Xmas and a happy New Years. Until next time.
