My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Mexico Plaza Campestre. It is in a good location. Just outside the city but walking distance to most attractions if you can make it across the highway lol. Also the hotel provided transportation for a reasonable price. We also appreciated that most times they had a staff member there that could speak or at least understand english enough to help us with any questions we might have. Between the bit of Spanish that we know and the bit of English they knew we made it through the week. We stayed here with a large group for a wedding. The rooms were clean and comfortable. And we enjoyed the rooftop pool <3 I see us booking another stay in the future.
This was our second visit to the hotel, very much the same as the first except the new restaurant menu was fantastic and the prices very reasonable. Comfortable beds, great location and cleanliness make this a must for anyone visiting Leon
It's pretty much the only hotel its size so far north in León, and that is why my company books here. The rooms are big, with their own living room / reception --ideal for business--, with a fridge and microwave Other than that, it's pretty unremarkable. I didn't have the horrific experience with bathroom cleanliness another reviewer had, but it is true the rooms don't feel absolutely spotless like some other places do (I blame the carpets). What I did experience was noise coming from daily parties at the restaurant on the bottom floor, which is by the way expensive and not very good at all. Given this, having a supermarket 100m from the entrance was very convenient. I've stayed here twice for a week each time, and it worked for me.
I stayed here for over a week while at a sporting event in Leon. I couldn't have asked for a better place. Every one of the staff was accommodating and friendly. They helped me with everything, even getting a plane ticket changed when the number for American Airlines was nowhere to be found. They always rushed to help me get my gear to my room. The rooms were large and clean, with a separate kitchenette with sleeper sofa.(For the previous reviewer who complained about a chipped tile and missing light bulb, I think a lot of things must bother you... I needed a light bulb and it arrived in five minutes). The restaurant attached to the hotel, Cien Tios, is excellent. The tuna tacos are fantastic. The hotel is in a small shopping plaza with a good grocery store and other small restaurants such as Subway, a pizza place, a taqueria, and some others. The Parque Meteropolitano de Leon is huge, with paved 4.3-mile biking and running trails circling the reservoir. It's about 1/2 mile away and a great place for a morning run or sunny afternoon. The geese there are a riot, they act like they own the place. The park has lots of playgrounds, little open air cafes, quadricycles for rent that you can load the whole fam damily on and take for a ride, and plenty of benches and picnic tables. Even the people at the grocery store were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay at this property again.
Without a doubt this is a great place for the most demanding traveler who need who need comfort at affordable prices. The rooms are well appointed and the small kitchen with its second TV and table chairs and sofa allows a comfort zone whilst relaxing prior to retiring.
Stayed here for just one night before flight home. Thank goodness it was only one night. I had some anxiety when we pulled up to a strip mall - the hotel is actually in a strip mall. The hesitation was well-founded. While the rooms had plenty of space, a safe and a refrigerator, there was no wifi. (I was told that the entire town did not have internet service.) Further, our room was really dark; there weren't any nightstand lamps. The light in the ceiling fan was not working and was not replaced, though we asked. We were part of a large group and there was no restaurant, so we ate in the hotel lobby. A few people in our group became ill, attributing it to the fish served at dinner. The staff tried to be accommodating, but we were amazed that we saw the bartender running out to the supermarket to get more limes for margaritas. Surprising -- considering that our group was booked for many months before our arrival. Be Very Careful in the Shower -- the floor tile is Really, Really Slippery!! There were no rubber mats available, so the housekeeper brought us an extra bath mat to use while we showered --- A little scary. And....... really loud. The music from a bar in the same strip mall thumped loudly through our room until the wee hours of the morning. No sleep -- A disappointing end to our trip.
I stayed in Mexico Plaza for 8 nights as part of business trip in Leon. This hotel is for sure the worst i ever stayed... Even though the hotel appears to be newly renovated this is just a fake image and you can realise this by the moment you will get outside of the elevator to go to your room. Starting from corridor that leads to the rooms, the carpet is very old and DIRTY. Even though the rooms had a small lifting thought the years, the bathrooms did not! OLD and DIRTY washbasins and baths, broken tiles, teared bathroom curtain (stapled!!!!!!) fully described the bathroom area... The breakfast was extremely poor - didn't have even the basics. You have to ask to give you some bread and then use an old half-broken toaster... However, the worst part of this was the DIRTY plates and coffee mugs (some of the mugs were broken as well). The only good thing I can say is the good wi-fi they offer... I strongly DO NOT recommend this hotel - the images the show on Trip Advisor and Booking are misleading.
A short-stop hotel which has generously-proportioned rooms with an anteroom-kitchenette leading into the main sleeping area. Everything about the room was regular to average, fittings, installations, linens, bathroom etc. I would have no problem returning for a one or two night stay if, and it's a big if, they manage to sound proof the windows. Unfortunately you have no respite from the nocturnal cacophony here. My first room faced the road, which is a major route through Leon, and within 30 minutes it was obvious that the screaming trucks screaming away just outside the window were not going to allow me to sleep a wink that night. So off to reception I go and ask for a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Fine, no problem, they were happy to switch me around, and I looked forward to a good nights sleep in my new room. Sadly, the open air bar with live bands playing, that faces and abuts right up to the rear of the hotel, had other plans for me. So, in this hotel, you have to choose. Sreaming trucks, or screaming cover-bands. Hmmm. In the end I figured that the bar wouldn't be open all night and the noise would eventually cease, whereas the trucks would be passing at all hours, and stayed witth this second choice. And I was correct, although it was gone 2 am before the mangled strains of "Brown eyed girl" finally faded into the night sky. So not very restful, all told. Bearable for one night, maybe two, but there must be better options in Leon in the same price-range for old fogeys like me. Young turks may just be fine joining in with the fun.
I liked the look of this hotel as I prefer small individual hotels, I was not disappointed. friendly and clean and exceptional value. The rooms are very large, many with 2 double beds, a bathroom you can turn around in and a kitchen with a sofa bed, table and chairs, fridge and microwave. Plus coffee making facilities although I detest coffee. there is a small pool and a well appointed gym. The staff are attentive and friendly and Philippe is very helpful in the restaurant. An American friend on a business trip has just emailed me to thank me for the recommendation. This is not a glamorous hotel but it is one I would recommend.
I stayed here for a week on a business trip and I thought it was comfortable and safe. It's nothing spectacular but it suited my needs and the price was reasonable. Room was plenty big, bed was comfy, shower was nice, maids were friendly and efficient, fridge and micro, good coffee, near plenty of dining options and a grocery store. The things I didn't like were the a/c...it worked fine to cool the room but it constantly went on and off. The internet was spotty in the evening...worked fine in the mornings but I guess it's one of those systems that gets bogged down by heavy traffic so there were times when it was frustratingly slow. The key to my room never seemed to work...had to go back downstairs every day to get it reprogrammed. And Friday night it was a bit noisy. Nothing major to complain about though. I'd definitely stay here again.
