I stayed for three nights at the Kelvingrove Hotel and will definitely be back. The location, within walking distance of Kelvingrove Park, Art Gallery and Museum plus the city centre is hard to beat. My room rate included breakfast: tea, coffee, juice, cereals plus a freshly cooked hot breakfast, which was super. While there, nothing was too much trouble for the staff: the lady on reception was especially kind and it was so nice to stay at a hotel where you are more than just a room no.
Very poor customer service we were told to stop talking during the night in our own room or we would be threw out and that was our first and final warning a bit harsh seeing as we were in our own room with no music tv or other forms of noise whatever happened to freespeech certainly wont be returning
Comfortable and clean double room with en suite bathroom. Shower was a bit rubbish and lukewarm but it did the job. Only a short walk into town and parking outside the hotel was reasonable. Reception staff were friendly. Good place to stay if you don't want to spend loads on a comfortable room.
I just wanted a place to lay my head for one night, and I knew I would be sharing a bathroom and toilet so I have no issue with that. If you are claustrophobic, don't book a single room, the saying 'no room to swing a cat' could have been invented for this room, it was literally less than 6 feet wide. Also I had to bring the travel kettle provided, flex, plug and all to the bathroom to get water for a cup of tea, It wouldn't have been difficult to supply a jug of fresh water to the room on arrival? I can't comment on the food as I booked on a room only basis but the room service would have cost £8 for a bowl of soup or a tenner for a toastie!
This hotel is in a great location right next to kelvingrove museum and park . It is let down by standard room with quite a dated en suite. The staff were very polite and accommodating , it was cosy and warm in a cold winters day however my room with views of the bins and noise from students was not great . Great location but very average rooms .
Stayed here for one night on a recent trip to Glasgow to see a show at the Hydro. Our daughter had booked it for us and it was easy to find and in a good location. On checking in Ian on the desk was great telling us what was round and about and marking things on a map for us. The room was small but it was essentially only somewhere to sleep and so it was fine. The place was clean and shower was fine. The hotel closes at ten o'clock so you get a key for the front door in case you are out later. The breakfast room has a good selection cereals, fruit juices teas and coffees for you to help yourself and the waitress takes your order for a freshly cooked breakfast from a good selection of items. This is where there was a bit of a hiccup. What we ordered came but the bacon was certainly not freshly cooked as both my wife and myself received about four or five dried up rashers which had obviously been lying around for a while! Pity as everything else was very nice. Would stay here again if through for another show as I feel it is value for money.
This hotel was round the corner from my son's flat and he'd stayed there in the summer. However, he had the room which is shown on the website - reasonably spacious and not bad. I got a tiny, dirty room and had to ask the manager to clean the wash basin which was covered in black dirt. She was very pleasant but that didn't make up for the poor housekeeping. The rate - £60 a night without breakfast - seems high considering my stay was in the lowest of low season and for what I got. Bizarrely, the radiator was on during the night and off in the morning. The towel rail never heated up. The tiny TV is fixed in the corner so you can't swivel it round and it can only be seen from one side of the bed. I was pretty much the only person in the hotel and you'd think I'd have got one of the better rooms to tempt me to stay again. I definitely won't be going back.
Great wee place to stay near the city centre. Only about 5-10 min drive from George square. Receptionist (think it's Ian) was super friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again. Rooms are average size. Only bad thing I would say is the noise of the plumbing when you use the toilet and sink. Shower pressure was pretty bad. Other than that, no problems.
Well situated for public transport, short walk to Kelvingrove Art Gallery, well placed for restaurants and bars. We had a ground floor room which was only yards away from the heavy traffic of Sachiehall Street and the double glazing wasn't very efficient so extremely noisy up until midnight. Didn't keep us awake but traffic started early in the morning again. The room was spotlessly clean and beds were comfortable. Plumbing was extremely noisy and inefficient, shower unit was falling to bits. For this reason I wouldn't stay here again. I requested an extra pillow and was told that the hotel was full so there wasn't an extra pillow I found that hard to believe that a hotel that had several sister hotels in the same road didn't have a spare pillow. The receptionist said he 'gave up his own pillow'. We didn't complain about anything as we were only there for three nights and the location was convenient.
