This was my second time staying at the hotel, and the experience was better than the first. We were put in a room on the second floor this time, and the spotty wifi I encountered on the first floor during my first visit was gone - wifi worked great and the room was much bigger than the one on the first floor. Note there is no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage first up to the reception area and then to the second floor. my only other comment is about breakfast and applies not just to this hotel but to many in Scotland - watch out for runny eggs! This seems to be the way they are prepared in Scotland (unless you order scrambled eggs), and I was sick for two days after ordering poached ones. learned my lesson after this and only had scrambled eggs.
Next to Glasgow Central Station, very convenient location with shops/restaurants/public transportation. Room was large and beds quite nice with firm mattresses. WiFi very spotty in rooms.
Drove in from the airport and parked in the public garage about a block away. Hotel provides a discount ticket for the garage. Room was on third floor, clean and quiet with an updated private bath. If taking the train, the hotel was adjacent to the main station. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. Best part was the first Tim Hortin's in the U.K. had just opened 1/2 block away. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I went to drop my bags off prior to checking in since I was early. I asked if I could sit and charge my phone for a bit, but was told that I could only stay for 5/10 minutes max because it was just "politics". I didn't really understand why this was the case, especially since I spent my money to stay there, but I left a few minutes later to explore the nearby area, where all of the shops had yet to open. Wonderful room, very clean and quiet. It was right next door to the Central Train Station, and a Japanese manga/toy store, and across the street from a pound shop. Was within walking distance of many amazing shops, sights, bars, and restaurants.
67pounds for 2 nights is pretty cheap for a double room + breakfast. However, the amenities are quite old and internet is slow and only available in the lobby. This is a good place to do a quick stop over because it's a minute walk away from the central train station.
This hotel has very few bells and whistles. It does have satellite TV, and only wi-fi in the lounge area, but for the price you can get on Orbitz, it is hands-down the best deal in Glasgow. Being right next to Central Station makes it easy to get to and from anywhere. The staff are friendly. My bathroom faucet wasn't secured to the sink, and the sink drained slowly, but that wasn't a huge problem either. As long as you don't expect a harem to greet you and suckle your toes, it's a good stay. And for the location, friendly staff and especially the price, it'd be neigh impossible to beat.
clean and conveniently located. small-ish rooms, but great deal for the price.
The internet picture of the hotel is nothing like the hotel itself. Parking is in public parking two blocks away. No elevator and reception is one flight from entry with narrow stairs. Staff was nice but new and appologetic when told the hotel was unlike the internet presentation, admitting that many before us had made the same comment. It seems the deception is intentional.
