Overall the Apex City of Glasgow Hotel was convenient regarding location to shopping and activities of Glasgow. Parking is extremely expensive, even with the hotel's 25% off. Housekeeping was disappointing, as a couple of our bath towels were reused/still damp after being placed on the floor of the bathroom for replacement. When we complained, we were simply offered free drinks. We don't drink! Nothing more! It took some time to get the free local calling working, should have been set up when we first registered, but seemed to be overlooked and a few days before being rectified. Some front staff were cordial, others uninformed, and possible not caring. Housekeeping also continually turned down (or to warmer) the fridge provided in the room. Our dairy products went bad. Closet space really limited (small) for a couple.
I stayed nine nights while attending the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, an easy train trip away. Also took day trips and visited some of Glasgow's many museums. I was especially impressed by the hotel's friendly staff. They made me feel at home.
Great hotel in excellent location - had to walk up hill with luggage but uber to train was simple and cheap - suburb Italian restaurant across the street.
We booked this as part of a trip to Glasgow and had read other comments about the late night pub/club/bar noise. So we booked a "City View" room seven floors up. It was not high enough. The room and location were fine; but four nights out of eight we were awaken by club noise between one and three each night. Other Glasgow bars (we like bars) post notices asking their patrons to remember their neighbors. Marks management needs to make other business owners aware of their situation.
Hotel was average, location was very good and clean too, but the bed was so small and in very very poor condition. My feet hung over the edge and I'm only 5'9". Yet another tired Glasgow hotel in need of a renovation.
We stayed in Glasgow overnight, enroute to the west coast and found the hotel comfortable. It was a short 4-5 block walk from the train station and conveniently located near restaurants, 24- hr newsstands for sim, phone cards etc., and near a lot of shopping. There was a fire outside the hotel during our stay that brought us down to find the staff engaged, on top of the problem, and pleasant. High marks for good training. The breakfast was included in our pkg and was hot, complete and tasty. My only recommendation is for the hotel to add a fan in rooms. If we kept our windows closed, it got stiflingly hot and muggy. Open, and you heard street noise, trucks, people, and in our case, smoke from the fire in the alley.
