I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on business. The hotel is modern and clean. The room was compact but modern in design and comfortable. My only complaint would be the pillows on the bed are too soft and I've ended up with neck ache. Other than that I had a great stay. Breakfast was good with plenty to choose from and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. I'd definitely return.
The building is old and it shows but professional service and a great breakfast make up for an enjoyable stay overall. I had a Loggia room on the 6th floor. Bed very comfortable, a balcony with a view to the Europaplatz. Old furniture, some wooden furniture below the sink also chipped. However, the designed shower seemed to be renovated recently and is in great condition. The room is by no means luxury, but if you're good with a 3-star simple room and a friendly, accommodating service, you'll be happy here.
I was staying over night with my parents in Graz ...booked hotel Daniel one room paid for the room when arrived a snotty rude front desk attendant told me he didn't care what I booked but if I wanted to stay there I would have to buy another room bc we were 3 me and my parents ...left us out in the cold laughed with another customer at me while witnessing my struggle ...i would definitely not recommend this place
I stayed at Hotel Daniel this week as part of a business trip. The check-in process was simple and attended by competent English speaking staff. The room was clean with a large bed and appointed well. The bathroom was of wet room design with the shower over to one side with a large glass wall giving full visibility into the main part of the bedroom. WiFi was available with a good TV. room wa a bit stuffy when I first went in but soon cleared after opening the window for a few minutes. Breakfast was plentiful, Continental and served in a spacious dining room. The hotel is close to the station and the town and I enjoyed my stay
I can't say enough about the excellent service we received at this hotel. From the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff they were there to accommodate your every need. Breakfast is an additional charge and it is less if you let them know the night before that you will be having breakfast there. We were there for two weeks so we had to use the laundry service. Truly satisfied with everything. Interesting setup for bathroom. If you are in the shower and someone is in the restroom, only one of you can shut the door. There is also a glass wall in the shower that allows other occupants of the room to see you shower. This was not a problem for me, but I could see where some people might be put off by this. They have a suite, called the "Loft" on top of the building. Didn't see the inside, but would like to stay there. I'm sure the view would be great. It was also convenient to be right at the station for the train, tram, and bus. I paid 14 euros for a week and had unlimited access to the tram and bus. You really don't need a car in Graz, the tram and bus will take you everywhere.
Really enjoyed my one night here and wished it could have been longer. Everything about the hotel was great - the staff, the room, the location and the breakfast! Very easy to get into the old town by tram - took about 10 minutes. The room had been cleverly designed, and was practical, clean and comfortable. Although you are very near to the station and a busy road because of the double glazing the room was quiet.
Near the center of town near train station for easy access. Good restaurants nearby or you could take the train into old center city where there are a lot of street side restaurants. This is a modern hotel.
The hotel's publicity material claims that "At the Hotel Daniel in Graz, guests can concentrate on the essentials. Everything unnecessary is dispensed, meaning you have dispensation to relax. In each of the 107 rooms the features aren't just in step with your needs, but rather one step ahead." Those needs do not appear to include, in the hotel management's eyes, cupboards or drawers or a safe deposit box. Something to think about if you are staying more than a night or two, or need/want more than the basic facilities. That said, the rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast buffet is excellent. The hotel's location is very central, its public spaces are well appointed and the design concept 'contemporary' - although some of the slogans which are everywhere ('Be optimistic for the world'?) are not - and the staff are friendly and helpful. Just be aware of what you're signing up to: horses for courses.
This is my third stay here at the Daniel for business (it's our "preferred" corporate hotel) and normally all is pretty good - the breakfast is not bad and normally staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately this time this is not the case - TV in my room was not working and even though I told someone in the morning before leaving, when coming in the evening it was still not working. Went to the reception to get help and get it working - but was just told in a very basic manner, that I need to unplug and replug a cable to make it work - with no more attention spared or other help offered - I was left to my own devices. The advise did not help - TV not working - no help offered during a 2 night stay .... shame that basic customer service was not adhered to - I will try to not stay here again next time as even though this is a basic thing it should have been given more attention to detail! Wifi also very slow not allowing consistent use of internet (work) or services (Netflix) - so not even that alternative was possible.
I have stayed here for 5 nights now and find the hotel to be more than expected. The staff is friendly and helpful. Most speak English, if not all of them. The showers are amazing. Overall the hotel is clean and quiet. Depending on the time of year you visit, know that you will likely need to keep the windows open at night or it can get stuffy. Though they have "air conditioning", like most European hotels it does not quite blow cold as one would expect if visiting from the US.
