My adult daughter and I stayed 2 nights this past week and it was an amazing experience. The campsite is very clean - the tent we stayed in was SO nice with a King sized bed. Camping without all the work. The bathrooms were very clean and maintained well with towels provided. The staff was eager to please. Angeline and Zachary in the kitchen made sure that our food was delivered and that we were happy. In the evening the campfire had as many s’mores as you could eat. The Grand Canyon is only 30 minutes away and one evening we went and watched the sunset. We both highly recommend it. It was quiet, peaceful and serene! Staff was excellent!
We had no idea what this was about. I typed in Grand Canyon camping and this came up. I decided to look at it and book a stay for our vacation. We were more than excited when we arrived and the staff was so nice. They took us on a tour of the main tent and restaurant. Then took us to our tent and we were so amazed to see where we would be staying for the next 2 nights. The beds were very comfortable and we ate most of our meals at the restaurant. The food was amazing, generous portions and good price. We really enjoyed staying at Under Canvas and cannot wait to go back next summer with the rest of our family. We also look forward to visiting other locations as well.
We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of June and had a fantastic experience from beginning to end! The staff are all wonderful, helpful HAPPY people that make your stay a joy. Our tent was roomy enough for our family of four (1kjng sized bed 2 cots)and the bed was sooo comfy. Our small wood stove kept us warm on some cool nights(in the 40s). The stars are nothing less than spectacular we saw multiple shooting stars and the Milky Way. The extras such as yoga underneath that big beautiful sky, fireside s’mores and live music at dinner were all appreciated and enjoyed. And the food!! I had low expectations for food cooked in a trailer in a field but wow! Everything from pan fried trout to chimichangas were freshly and tastily executed. We ate breakfast and dinner there for our 3 nights and were never disappointed. I can’t wait to try another of the under canvas locations but honestly would be happy to return anytime to the GC location! Some notes: you are in a tent so expect to hear blowing of the tent, footsteps on gravel outside your tent etc. the bathhouses we used were shared but never had trouble using one when needed. I do know they offer en suite tents if that’s a problem for you. About 20 minute drive to the south entrance to the canyon. Super big shout out to Zach and Angelina!! If they are there when you visit you will be in for a treat as they are wonderful!!!
Too bad we only stayed one day. We would have enjoyed staying longer! The Under Canvas staff made all of the difference - terrific, customer service and personable. Their interactions were genuine in every way. Most notably, they did a great job of creating a community amongst the guests. We went on a Friday and that night their was live music (the best part, by the way!) My sons and I played cards outside, interacted with others, and made s'mores under the stars in the patio area with string lights. It was off-the-charts enjoyable. I must also say, we decided to eat from the menu (the site also provides private barbecue areas) and thought the food was first rate! Obviously all fresh ingredients and skilled chef preparations. The restaurant manager, Zachary, made the experience really fun for my sons (ages 9 and 13). We stayed in a deluxe tent that is exactly as the pictures show. We used the wood burning stove to create a very cozy evening. I would recommend this for a lot of different kinds of people - couples, extended families, girls or guys weekends, and it would be enjoyable for those that aren't naturally adventurous because the tents are superiorly clean. We will return, or try out another Under Canvas location!
My husband and I took a road trip and stayed 3 nights here. What a refreshing, fun, out of the ordinary place to stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a little adventure. To begin, everyone on staff was exceptional. They all went out of their way to make our stay as fun and positive as possible. Everyone was friendly and full of excitement for our stay. We had the most interaction with the food staff and I wanted to give a them some credit for always greeting us warmly. Sena, Lauren and Zach worked so hard to make our meals perfect! The food was surprisingly delicious. Quite a bit of variety with GF and vegetarian options. As for our tent. We upgraded to the sky view tent and it was so spectacular. Words can't quite describe how beautiful the night sky is out near the Grand Canyon. There is almost zero light pollution. We quickly got used to the shower pull cord. We showered late afternoon when the weather was the warmest. We also liked that our tent faced east. In the mornings we would open up our tent and let the sun warm us. We loved our porch and sat out there till late every evening. Our bed and the bedding were top quality and it was so delightful to jump in to such a soft plush bed with down comforters and quality pillows. My husband built a fire in our wood burning stove about an hour before we went to bed so our tent was nice and cozy when we got in bed. We were so impressed with this place that we are already planning our next trip to another location and this time we will be bringing our grown boys.
Beautiful facilities and incredible staff. Absolutely loved staying here. They had activities every night and the staff was super helpful with recommendations for what to do in the area, even on the drive home.
What a delight! We had a brilliant time at under canvas, right from the get go being welcomed so warmly by the lovely staff. We had the stargazer tent, which was fabulous, but prepare for an early wake up as your window to the stars becomes a window to the sun. Highlights: Fire in your room to keep you toasty Smores round the fire in the evening Excellent, healthy food including takeaway lunches for hiking Progressive and ecological thinking throughout Go here. When we come back to America, we’ll be looking where else we can use the company. And then encouraging them to come set up in the UK.
We had a wonderful time visiting Under Canvas at the Grand Canyon and would recommend it to young, old, adventurous, laid back, campers, non-campers and to ALL others. The staff is so engaging and helpful-full of conversation and ideas on how to make the experience of Grand Canyon just perfect. The lodge is wonderfully decorated and the food was AMAZING! Our tent was perfect for us and the bed was so incredibly warm and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and the water was nice and warm. Anyway, we can’t wait to visit all the locations, as this was a trip we won’t forget.
We checked in late and it was stormy. We were shown to our stargazer tent and hive. We were worried about the beds in the hive being warm enough, so they came down and added a sleeping bag and liner to our beds. The sleeping bags were awesome. I might buy one. We wished we could have stayed a couple more nights to take full advantage of the property.
Camping can't be better. It's THE place to camp under the starry sky with all kinds of constellations & even can view the Milky way- just unbelievably true. Luxury camping with 5 star facilities & heartwarming hospitality from the staff. Must say they attended to each & every small requirements from us & made sure we get the best time of our life at leisure. Stargazing tents were awesome, could view the star studded sky lying in bed from my tent. Food was decent & had facility to warm & grill our own food. Have been able to provide all basic daily routine necessities for an individual without disturbing the nature much. Sunrise & Sunset views are a treat for photography lovers & for nature loving individuals. Cut logs of wood were provided with a small closed furnace/ tandoor kind of thing to keep warm at temp as low as -1°C Free Coffee & milk were available all the time. Worth every penny spent.
