The pillows/ bedding were funky smelling, thankfully i covered them with the clean towels ~All else was right as the mail;)
The staff customer service was varied by who was there. All nice, but 1 exceptional. The room was dated but HUGE for an older hotel. Not bad at all. Bed very comfy. The area was in the middle of everything we needed to walk to and close enough for driving to where we wanted to go. We would consider staying there again.
Second stay at Monte Vista. Loved it. Great location, cool old place. Will return!!
Just be warned, this is a really old hotel so expect things to be very "antique-y" that includes the rooms, especially the old beds, old bathrooms and showers, my room didn't even have the ability to control the temperature. The rooms also have this very old smell to them. There's no ice machine on any of the floors, you need to go to the front desk and ask them for ice. There's free coffee at the front desk in the morning. The coffee shop downstairs is relaxing during the day but it converts to a bar at night and expect patrons to be extremely loud until they close at 2am on weekends. Also, parking is terrible, there's maybe 10 parking spots next to the hotel and the if those fill up you need to park in a small garage across the street for $30 per night. That garage was full on the Friday night I went there so I needed to find parking very far away and then move my car late at night so it didn't get towed. These are just the negative. The views from the room over old town Flagstaff are great, the area is smack dab in the middle of the liveliest part of Flagstaff. Staff was extremely friendly.
Historic hotel so dont expect modern type amenities. The bar downstairs makes for street noise, but it didn't bother me as I sleep easy. Location is great in downtown. Nothing sparkly about my room, but looks like there might be some more unique ones.
Having live music in a hotel with 4 floors until 2AM in the morning is not acceptable. We moved from the 2nd floor to the 4th floor which helped slightly. We will never stay at this hotel again. I would expect some kind of compensation for our inconvenience.
Stayed here because it’s downtown. That’s the plus side. Room had no controllable thermostat. TV was broken and stuck on 1 channel. Channel buttons changed source/input. Very strange. Sink was outside bathroom in room. Weird. The 1 old antique chair in room was broken. No mini fridge or other amenities.
Had to pay $25 parking on none hotel property (which is extremely limited) and no validation available. Found out when got to properly.
This is an old, quaint hotel right in the midst of Flagstaff. Our room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. We stayed over a Friday night and the noise from the street and rowdy people up and down our hallway did not stop all night long. Needless to say we got no sleep.
