We were surprised at size of the suite. Bathroom is really big and the balcony includes a large canesettee which was comfortable. Although facing main road we could not hear traffic through night/day when door closed. We were in rm 203 based on 2 nd floor overlooking pool and street. There was a large fridge, 2 large comfortable beds and comfortable sofa bed and chair in lounge area. The shower which was over bath was really powerful. We were informed that the hotel is due a complete refurb April/July 2018. The wellness centre in basement was absolutely amazing. Large gym and hot salt water cave pool ( nudist swimming) also a large hydrotherapy pool which was hot too. Hammam, waterbeds, relaxation beds, sauna, steam etc. All free for guests. Massage was amazing too. The meals were adequate but mainly related to Germany as 90% of hotel guests were either Dutch, Dutch or Scandinavian. All staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Most guests were A/I but we were half board. There are no tea/coffee making facilities so suggest you take travel kettle which I did and saved a fortune on hot drinks. Location is good, bus stops regular outside and supermarket, restaurants and bars all close by. Would definitely recommend giving this hotel a visit just for using the spa etc. Plan on revisiting again.
This hotel is worth more than 3 * very nice food, friendly service, very good all in formula, nice spacious clean rooms, hotel will be refreshed in 2018 with new bathrooms, we have been here several times and will definitely go back !!!
Am spending Carnival week at the 3-star Escorial Hotel, where I have stayed more than a few times in the past five years. It is about to close for several months for a major refurb – which it probably needs, so one can only hope that the result is an improvement on the present hotel. However, the Escorial – as it is in 2018 - is very good indeed, at the top of the 3-star bracket, and in some ways as good as many 4-star hotels. Its fundamentals are excellent, and I’ve had a very pleasant stay indeed (helped, of course, by very sunny weather). Its location is good, only a short walk to the promenade and the beach. The staff is excellent and friendly, the food is varied and tasty, and the rooms are of good size, and most come with a very generous balcony. The bathrooms – which may be radically changed – are well-sized and comfortable. Wifi is free throughout the hotel, and there is a fridge supplied gratis in every room. The beds – at least the one I’ve been sleeping on – are excellent, and there is plenty of space for clothes, etc. The hotel facilities are excellent also: a nice, heated pool and plenty of loungers, a very good (underground) gym and spa (including a lovely ‘dead sea pool’) and a rooftop solarium which allows you to grab the sun until after 5 p.m. (this time of year). So, what needs to be changed? Not a lot, although I’m sure modernised bathrooms will be welcome to most visitors. The rooms, too, could do with a make-over, but they aren’t bad at the moment! I, like most of the guests at the Escorial, are repeat customers – some of many, many years. I’m not sure if the management’s goal for the refurbishment is to move the hotel up to the 4-star level, or to maintain it at the top of the local 3 stars. In either case, what’s also needed is to make the hotel that little bit more comfortable – not to say ‘luxurious’ – by being more generous with creature comforts. It wouldn’t cost a lot to, for example, throw out all the thin, old towels and replace them with thicker, more 3-star towels. The present towels would be acceptable at a Formula 1, but not at the better grade of Ibis hotels! Also, why not be a bit more generous with ‘product’? At present there is hardly any product offered at all – other than a miniature bar of soap. Why not go crazy, offer some shower gel or shampoo? After all, most 3-star hotels do. I only hope that there is some money left after the rooms are modernised for some proper comfy towels! It would be a pity to invest millions, and not improve the little things that make for a comfortable stay. My fingers are crossed.
This is the second time that we have stayed at this hotel and enjoyed it the same as before. Stayed over xmas and new year and the food was amazing. So much choice And even a 5 star could not have done better. Entertainment wasn't much and the venue is not very suitable, as pillars obscure your view and the area gets very cold, due to doors opening and closing at both ends. The hotel is going through a refurbishment in April but I don't think that this will include the entertainment area. Still don' t be put off, by the 3 star rating , as this hotel is still great value for money. Staff are friendly and I noticed that a lot of them were still there from our previous visit, two years ago. Check my previous review for more details.
We spent a week at Escorial end of October and were very pleased with the service we received. The staff provided amazing customer service and made our time even more enjoyable. Food was great! Delicious sea food selection. Shows were great , prices on reasonable level. Location is great just difficult to find with rent a car for the first time. We would recommend this resort to our friends.
This hotel is very good situated, only 200 m from the sea, the busstation and shops. The staff is very helpful and kindly. There's also a great fitness and welnesscenter. All is very clean and the food is very good for a 3-stars hotel. It is one of the best hotels for his price. Next year (from April to June 2018) the whole hotel is closed for a great renovation, so I think it shall be a pearl. Let's hope that the prices stay in the same level and the atmosphere stay the same. We go surely back next year to see what is changed and in the idee we have again a great time.
Second time we have stayed there, just as good as the first. Now being refurbished which should make it even better. Of all the hotels we have stayed in, this one serves buffet style with food that is correctly hot.
Having seen the reviews for this hotel we were a little concerned. No need. The place could do with a lick of paint and a bit of modernisation. But what a great place to stay. It’s in a great location, bus and taxis outside the front door, 300 meters from the beach , prom and shopping centre. Five minutes by taxi to the Yumbo centre (great night out at Ricky’s Show-bar) We went all inclusive the food was delicious, lots of choice to suit everyone, some freshly cooked while you wait. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We learned from the night porter that they are going to close from April to June 2018 for a major renovations. The room was clean and serviced every day the beds were comfortable , the only downside was no UK tv except Sky news. We would definitely return.
Stayed here with family including a 4 and a 5 year old. Easy check in and information regarding food times easily accessable. Room was standard and good shower. Cleaned everyday. Food was OK and hot. Lots of choice and always something for a fussy eater. Must be dressed which was a pain at lunch time if wet from the pool! Snack bar only open from 11-3pm and ice cream only available at 4pm. No slush puppies like available at other hotels. Not much entertainment, it was only on 4 night out of 7. Neighbouring hotel sounded much better. Kids club for 1hr a day. My daughter enjoyed it. Spa great and worth a visit. Kids allowed until noon. Games room was fun but so hot! We had a great time but wouldn't rush back. Great resort though! Taxis really cheap. Worth a visit to yumbo centre. Get the lift to the beach that steps are a challenge on a hot day! Oh and don't get me started on sunloungers. Reserve your spot at 7am or face having to stand and watch your child in the pool all day!
This is a really nice hotel and very clean The food was very good and the staff friendly It is in a prime location for shops, buses and taxis We did not stay here but were allowed access to everything as we were staying in the sister hitel The Eugenia Spa This was fantastic as we could stop and have lunch or a drink when we were out walking
