Beautiful Apartment Room in Surfers Paradise. Thanks to the manager for great customer service even though after reception timings. Very clean apartment with everything you need to stay for a holidays. Beautiful views from rooms and balcony. Internet was free and unlimited. Parking was free.
Nice Apartments on Surfers Paradise. Neat and clean. Free Parking. Free Unlimited Wifi. Initially we had some misunderstanding but later it was resolved very professionally by the property manager. Property manager is very helpful and polite. Great views from Balcony and Rooms
My Wife and I stay a few Nights and we had no trouble accessing local Food, Beach and Entertainment. The Pool and amenities were well maintained when extremely help management. With a Woolworth Store nearby we could easily buy food to BBQ beside the Pool.
Must've been built in the mid-80s, apartment still has the original look with no obvious maintenance done to it. So expect dirty curtains, mould in the showers, broken taps, rotten soap holders (and these were made out of metal!!!), smelly apartment, stinking dishwasher, cracked bathroom vanity, broken window locks (NOT great for safety with small children). Whilst the location is central, apartment facing the City is very noisy. So, who gave it a 4-star rating???? Should be more like a 2 star with the corresponding price reduction. PS No need for the Management to reply to this, will NEVER stay there again!!!
It was our second visit to Moorings, and overall I was quite happy with everything. It's not a 5 star hotel so don't expect the apartment to be spotless - in our case the dishwasher had some buttons missing so it took time to get it going, shower had some shelves missing, bathtubs plug wasn't matching the bath (reception staff kindly provided another one next morning) and the Foxtel was working intermittently. However everything was tidy and presented well, the location is amazing and the views were breathtaking. We stayed 5 nights at Moorings, and just like our first visit, we would not hesitate to recommend the place.The place is mostly quiet, staff are polite and helpful, apartment spacious and air-conditioned. However, on the morning of our departure, we went to the beach for a morning swim. This was when I got the call from the bank - apparently, my cards were stolen and used in few places already - in the sum of about $500. I returned to the hotel and went to my vehicle straight away - it was parked in the allocated spot in the "secure" undercover parking. Surprise - the car was broken into and lots of our stuff stolen, including $1500 tablet, GPS, bags, clothing and my wallet with all of my cards. We went to the hotel reception and the hotel managers quickly checked the CCTV's - the offender accessed the garage through the garage door apparently using an electronic FOB and was going from car to car taking stuff and apparently he also broke to the apartment right next to the one we were staying in (he took a couple of TV's from that apartment)! The manager also mentioned herself that her car was in the same carpark and unlocked (this will be relevant later) Not sure how it was possible since the manager told us that every fob key has is accounted for and has to be activated by the management. My wife contacted the hotel once we got back home and the reply was polite but the management blamed us for not locking our car (although we do remember locking it). According to the management, the hotel attracts various, not always good people so based on that statement 0I guess be prepared for the car or the apartment to be broken into. Based on all that I am not sure I can recommend Moorings to anyone who considers safety high on their list of priorities during their holiday. As we were staying with small children, I was honestly shocked that this sort of thing can happen in the secure carpark of an expensive apartment hotel and also lack of empathy concerned us too. The reception staff were very polite and empathetic. For the record, no compensation was offered or provided by the hotel (at the very least, later check out would be nice since we spent 2 hours on the phone with police and banks).
We stayed in Apartment 57 for the second time. Whilst generally The Moorings represent good value for money, this particular Apartment needs some work to improve it. Some of the problems are: The curtains and mechanisms need replacing, The curtains don't close properly and the hooks are hanging loose. Even when closed there is a lot of light coming through. The lounge and dining furniture is old and either broken or uncomfortable. Both need replacing. The kitchen needs a thorough check over. Cutlery and crockery is of poor quality and mixed. Glassware is poor quality and mostly plastic.You can't drink good wine out of plastic! The shower door in the bathroom and the fan in the laundry recess need some attention.
The rooms very spacious and nice. It's quite outdated and could do a bit of a remake. Doesn't really look like pictures. But it was nice staff and I was able to check in early. It's extremely noisy tho. Our apartment was on level 1 towards the pool and it's like the windows were open. Very thin walls and can hear everything happening in the hallway. Although I thought the stay was nice.
WOW what a great place to stay. We had a big group of friends and stayed across two apartments that were both very spacious and clean with everything you need. Views of the river are amazing with balcony's you can sit on and watch the sunset. The pool and spa is really nice with plenty of sunbeds. Walking distance to everything including the beach, restaurants and bars. We stayed for the V8 car racing which was walking distance but far enough away from the noise. Staff were very friendly and accommodating too. Great value! Highly recommend.
We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 4. We recently travelled to the Gold Coast for a break and stayed at Moorings on Cavill. The hotel location is very convenient, being in the heart of Surfers Paradise. From here it was walking distance to most locations including the Skypoint deck, the shopping precincts around Surfers Paradise and a number of arcades, shopping malls and dining options. Infact the hotel is directly across the road from a shopping precinct with a number of great restaurants, cafes, and a Woolworths etc. The hotel itself is relatively small and cosy but has a clean, welcoming environment. We checked into a Deluxe apartment on the 6th floor. It was spacious, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with kitchen, dining and living area in between. Its probably one of the bigger 2 bedroom apartments we’ve rented so we were really happy with it. Check in was quick - I had rented a car from Brisbane Airport so got a free parking bay under the hotel. We also had free capped internet which was great. The hotel amenities include a small pool, spa, sauna and small outdoor garden with BBQ facilities. Whilst the facilities were small, they were well maintained and a great way for the kids to cool down at at the end of a long day. Our apartment faced north on the river with great river and city views. Each bedroom had a separate balcony. There was air con in the main living room and the master bedroom, however fans in all areas. We also had our own laundry / dryer adjacent to the kitchen which was a great facility. Kitchen, bathroom and furnishing was modern however inside the linen cupboards, you could tell shelving was a bit dated. That being said, this didnt really bother us or detract from the functionality or cleanliness of the apartment. There’s probably only two cautionary notes I’d like to mention: 1) Whilst we had almost no noise from our neighbour or from the floor above us, as the external facing wall of the apartment is almost entirely glass (which gives awesome views), so external noise came through very easily. Cars/birds/groups socialising in the park below etc were all audible inside. This is something to be mindful off and 2) in the bedrooms, roller blinds are used but they are not fully enclosing and they have gaps where two are used side by side so bedrooms tend to light up quite early in the morning. This has not been a problem for us and both our children have slept with ease but may be an issue for some.. All that being said, I’d wholeheartedly recommend Moorings on Cavill as a clean, attractively priced, very convenient family friendly accommodation in the heart of the Gold Coast. If you intend to remain in your hotel/resort, there’s probably better choices around but for us requiring a good base from which to go to theme parks etc, this was the perfect choice.
Location is fantastic, staff accommodating and engaging. But the units are looking a bit shabby, beds are old and uncomfortable. Our unit really could do with a make over, old tired, cracked tiles. Kitchen old equipment mis matched and some did need pre cleaning. Fans barely work with the remote. I had read others feedback in relation to cleanliness, I found our unit to be adequately cleaned, but dissappointed for a 3 night stay, we got x1 dishwasher powder, x1 dishwash liquid. Only x2 small soap no body wash etc .. personally I don’t pack body wash, shampoo etc for a $250+ per night room I “expect” it to be provided. On check out I provided this feedback - to a “you should of told us” I don’t find that helpful - surely it can’t be that hard to prep a unit in advance of a quest
