Just happened to be there during my european tour. The hotel is so cozy and friendly. The staffs knows how to make you feel home away from home...The Hotel is just in the heart of the town and next to the railway station. The refreshed rooms are just amazing, the breakfast is fantastic. Perfect quality price....Highly recommended !!!!
I stayed for 2 nights and it was perfect , you can't get a better location with everything around and the city center is close yet you are out of the narrow dangerous alleys, the room has fridge kettle and safe and the roof of the room is a paint to admire ,, the owners are very friendly , only downside is the absence of elevator when you have bags with the hotel being on the 2nd floor
This hotel has an excellent location within walking distance of all the main areas. The hotel is very basic however offers all the comforts required for a short break, the rooms are small but comfortable and with air conditioning and TV with many channels. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall what you would expect from a 2 star hotel at this price
I spent a week here, in Balbi and I can say that it was pleasure. Not the most luxorious one, but clean and nicely-furnished. Rooms were kept clean all the time and staff was trying to do their best to satisfy their guests. Hopefully I come back some day.
My wife and I stayed at hotel Balbi during our final few days in Italy. We found the hotel to be clean, with rooms serviced daily. Hotel staff, and operators are warm, and welcoming, and found every request met with a smile. Don't be concerned by the hotels looks on the outside, inside, rooms are spacious, with tall ceilings with original period artwork that has been left untouched. Just a note:, our shower was a little on the small side, so beware the larger person. And, when booking, request a room away from the road, as this tends to be a little noisy. Breakfast is a typical Italian affair, and is catered by your hosts. All in all, no real complaints. The hotel offered us exactly what we were looking for with breakfast included, so excellent value for money. We would consider hotel balbi again when next in Italy. Happy to recommend.
Booked this hotel as a last minute stop over. After booking read some bad reviews and thought oh no what have I done. But arrived and was made up the room we had was massive with 1 double and 3 single beds and ensuite all very clean and comfortable. People on desk very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and was help yourself to as much as you liked. I would stay again without a doubt a good hotel for 1 -2 night stop over 😀
Hotel Balbi is a good B&B hotel with some interesting decor, high ceilings with fresco paintings. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Be warned - the hotel entrance is on the third floor - there is no lift and those stairs are no joke. If you have heavy bags you will find the stairs to be a real problem. While close to the train station, Via Balbi, at least at that end, is not that attractive. If you want to take a stroll at night you’re about one and a half kilometers from the city center, which is where you’ll find strolling much more interesting. However, the streets at night seem uncomfortable from the hotel to the city center and port.
Very unusual hotel. Limited ammenities. Clean and our room was spacious, facing out onto the Main Street. The ceiling fresco was a delight. Position was ideal, being close to shops, restaurants and railway station.
Location is good enough 5 minutes from Railway Station and 10 minutes to Old port. No elevator and very long high stairs to the second floor to reception. Staff is very helpful and smiling. Breakfast is good for 2 star hotel. It includes even fresh made cappuccino and coffe. Clean room but outdated furniture. A Kettle in the room is very handy. The bathroom is big and new – it’s a perfect surprise. Bath Towels looks like kitchen towels which was very strange. WiFi is fast. Price is high in general but average for Genoa. The only thing I didn’t like – they blocked one night price on my card immediately after booking in spite that my booking was changeable and cancelable without penalty.
Close to the station - and a warm welcome. A pity that there is no lift to this second-floor apartment hotel. But once we were in, everything was perfect. And our host laid on an early breakfast - thank you.
