The room looks very old with brown carpet from the 70s but it was not old it was new carpet and was very clean. Had a very neat old time feel and was perfect for the downtown gatlinburg setting.

Very nice place to stay! Nice renovated room and very clean. Bathroom very clean as well. You can tell they take pride in their place. Convenient location to walk to all shopping and restaurants. Definitely a plus in anyone’s book if you know Gatlinburg! Will stay again.

Motel room was definitely NOT renovated, I'd guess since the 90s... carpet, lumpy mattress, peeling wallpaper, etc. Maybe they save these specific rooms for the hotels.com customers. Location is good. Room was clean. There was parking. I felt safe. Solid 2 star.

Our Time in Gatlinburg

The hotel was very close to the downtown area so we did not have to drive our car very much throughout our stay which was definitely a plus. Our room was comfortable and clean. While we had noticed that there were upgrades that had taken place in the rooms especially in the bathroom, we felt that the flooring which was carpet was old and stained, and it needed to be cleaned or replaced. They advertised having a balcony, however, we were never able to get the door open. We talked to someone at the front desk letting them know, but we tried again several more times and the door would not open. That was disappointing. Currently, another hotel is being built next to The Gillette, and it was very noisy for which was kind of distracting for us while we were in the room.
