4/10 Poor

The cabin has a ton of potential. It’s a great layout in a beautiful community. Inside was outdated but still very charming. Unfortunately it wasn’t very clean, drywall damage and patched sections all over downstairs, what looked like mold on the dishes and disgusting dusty crud around the vents. The spiral stairs were poorly wrapped in old carpet which was shredding and covered in hair and dirt which would hang off the carpet and brush against you as you went down them. We ended up leaving early because we heard the scratching of unknown critters in the walls and floors both upstairs and down. We did not see droppings or animal evidence inside the house. It’s in the woods so certain things are a given, but unfortunately it was so loud after multiple sleepless nights we decided we needed to leave early and cut our vacation short. We did inform the host who did respond a few hours later stating there had been a raccoon problem in the past. There was no mention of intent to come out and address while we were there, so we decided to leave. The host did reach out after we had checked out stating they were working on investigating and apologized for the unexpected events. Unfortunately, it was a holiday week so there were no rooms available in the vicinity of Gatlinburg so we ended up having to drive all the way back home to NJ. We are looking forward to going back to Gatlinburg and would even stay in one of the other houses in the community because they are beautiful.
