Hotel felt like a resort. Very clean and well maintained. Restaurant food was delicious. Hotel had complementary bikes. Very friendly staff.

Best vacation we ever had, partly due to this amazing hotel and the terrific staff. I wish I could remember everyone's names: Jasmine in housekeeping kept our room spotless and supplied; Danielle, Keisha, and Lois provided lubricants and conversation at the bar; the front desk and the valet could answer any question...all of them with a smile. I'll be back.

We arrived 2 hours early for our reservation. We were greeted and offered to have our luggage stored while we either accessed the pool or went sight seeing. We opted to keep our luggage in the car and go ahead and park in the parking across the street - very close. We did get a call at 3:00 or so that our room was ready, so we were able to get in a little early. We were thankful.

The hotel was just beautiful.. very historic but updated. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The pier is within walking distance of the hotel. Unfortunately they were doing construction on the part of the beach that was Infront of the hotel but over all great experience. The pool and hottub were very nice after a long day of sight seeing.

We stayed in a handicap suite. The sofa was so broken down that it was difficult to sit on much less try to get up from it. Needs to be replaced! Horrible.

The customer service was excellent and the location was great. The room was too small and dated. Cleanliness come have been better. The cost was extremely high compared to what their competitors offer for a lower price.

We were in town to dedicate a memorial bench for my wife who had passed away the prior December. This was the third or fourth time that we had stayed at The Galvez. We chose to stay here because it was significant to my wife who grew up two blocks behind the hotel. All-in-all, our stay was really nice! The room was clean and always well maintained. The building is simply gorgeous! The staff was friendly and mostly helpful! We had two incidents where we could not get into the parking garage because all of our keys demagnetized...?! I understand that the hotel is not responsible for your car if you self park...even though...you are parking in the very garage where the valet is parking cars. When we went to put our suitcases into our car after checking out, we made the sad and disgusting discovery that one of the previous nights revelers from the hotel had used our car as a backstop/leaning post from which and on which to "blow-his-cookies"!...Twice! Once on each of my rear quarter panels! I pointed this out to a hotel security guy in a suit who's only reply was "Wow, I heard there was quite a party here last night; that sucks"! Perhaps next trip we will give the Holiday Inn a try?!

Dickens on the Strand is always a great festival. However the 2016 event on the 1st weekend in December saw record rain fall totals for the entire weekend. Event organizers waived entrance fees to the event. And the Galvez made my family and grandkids feel like they were at home. The staff went out of their way to see that all guest that weekend had a great time.

My husband and I paid 365 for a night here, plus an additional 115 to have our 8 lb dog with us. Throughout the evening, we ordered room service to which I had told the staff five times that I would be paying cash. To my dismay, we were locked out of our room, in our bath robes (we had gone to get ice) and our puppy inside, because the card they tried to charge for the food didn't work. ABOVE and beyond put out at the service I received. And all I got was a small apology; when they phoned security to let us back in they said "the lock wasn't working". Um no, you locked me out. NEVER recommend staying here.

We had a great time. Everyone is so nice. The food was good. We also went to the roof bar at the Tremont house which was also fun

We came in for my birthday weekend and had a wonderful stay. We had a corner room overlooking the gulf. The staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel was beautiful and clean.

I think after 4pm is way too late for being able to check in. Being as you have to be out by noon next day. Makes you feel like you're not getting to fully experience the amount of money you're spending.

I took my daughter and granddaughter and we all loved it. The hotel was beautiful and clean, the pool was resort quality. The staff were friendly and accommodating. This was my second stay at Hotel Galvez, I will be back.

A very nice and historic hotel. The staff was very friendly.

Had a great time. My family used to occupy the Presidential Suite in the late 1950's and early 1960's. First time back other than to attend Sunday Brunch. Not a disappointment. We stayed on the fourth floor west corner with both a city and gulf view. Spent two nights Thursday and Friday, leaving Saturday just before noon. Enjoyed a couple of meals in the cafe, breakfast and supper. When they found out we were there for our anniversary they made the supper extra special for us. The Bryan Museum of Southwestern Art is just down the street next to the hotel. Met J.P. Bryan and his wife on Friday quite by accident and enjoyed visiting with him and his wife. All in all, a great stay in Galveston, Texas.

Very nice experience. Everything was well coordinated.

Very enjoyable stay, was able to park car during 5 day cruise in the covered gated parking garage for 1/3 it would cost at the dock.

I recently booked a night at this historic hotel. Here is a glimpse of our interaction with the hotel: ●We arrived at 4:15pm ●Valet parked our car. Unlimited ins and outs, so this was a plus. ●After waiting in a modest line, the desk clerk notified us that our room was not yet ready. "Check-in time is at 4:00, but we cannot guarantee when your room will be ready. Please feel free to hangout in our lobby and we will call you when your room was ready." said the desk clerk apathetically. ●"About how long will it be?" I replied ●"We are not allowed to give you a time. We simply do not know" ●After an hour of debate during which the clerk tried pacifying us with bar drink vouchers, the manager pushed us to the front of the line to get a room. Mind you, we made reservations and paid in advance. It would have taken hours more to get a room simply because the hotel cannot manage its own logistics properly. ●After an amazing dinner on the island and a few drinks at a local bar, we were ready to retire back to the room. We picked up some beer to bring back to the room for a night cap. The hotel security informed us that no outside alcohol is allowed in their facilities as they confiscated it. It was the first time in 15 years that I felt like a child. Do yourself a favor, do not give this hotel your money. They are not in the business of providing service to their customers, but rather bleeding them dry of all their money, patience, energy, and joy.

A beautiful step into past elegance. Scenic views of the ocean and the lights of Pleasure Pier which features an old fashion carnival on the pier with lighted Farris wheel and rides. Plan to go in December for the Dickens Festival.
