The hotel was clean and incredibly reasonably priced. The breakfast was good with waffles, oatmeal, toast, cereal, coffee/tea, etc. The desk and room staff were incredibly professional, friendly and engaged with the customers. We were there 2 nights, so we saw a lot of staff changes. The hotel is very conveniently located to the highway 15, Mount St Mary’s, Seton Basilica and Catoctin National Park. Even the internet was fast and I didn’t get dropped like at most hotels. If you’re looking for a luxury hotel, I guess you should stay elsewhere & pay more. I was very nervous after reading the negative reviews & was pleasantly surprised. One obvious piece of advice; if you need something, geez just ask! I thought the pillows were a little flat so I asked for more and got them immediately. Don’t listen to the bad reviews-some people just live to complain. We will definitely stay here again. Oh, and I need to give a plug for the Thurmount Kountry Kitchen restaurant. Great reasonably priced home cooked meals & desserts! Even the wine & beer! And very nice staff!
I'm not a super picky traveler. Stayed at the super 8 last night. I checked the room when we first came in and did not see anything. Woke up this morning and found a bed bug in my bed. The front desk was very helpful in bringing trash bags to bag out things so the bugs weren't brought home. I requested to speak to a manager. The manager offered 50% off a FUTURE stay. I repeatedly said I would not be returning. Only after threatening to call corporate or my lawyer was I offered a full refund.
The in room fridge was covered in mold. It was reported and not taken care of over three days. Health hazard. Was told a rollaway cot was included, then they tried charging $20/night for it. The rollaway arrived complete crawling with stink bugs. Unbelievable! Horrible conditions. Don’t understand how the health department has t shut them down yet.
Never again unless there were no bugs. Looked like a fairly nic3 place until we got into our room 123. Immediately there were stink Bugs they did come and kill all of them then there were more and more At three am I looked up and there was one directly over my head. That did it and we were given a different room which was ok.
We had requested a non-smoking room but the only room with a queen bed was a smoking unit. Staff gave us another non-smoking room with twin beds. The TV did not have any of the normal broadcast channels -- NBC, CBS, ABC -- which was disappointing.
We left Florida at 3 am and were on the road till 6:30 pm. Exhausted, we just couldn't drive any longer. We began looking for a place to stop. I looked up a motel in Trip Advisor and found this place. I'm really glad that I didn't look at the reviews because I may not have stopped. But I'm glad that we found this place. The room was very clean and the price was right. $70 plus $20 for our Sheltie. I've marked this place in our logbook. We def will stop here next year on our way back home from Florida. We all have positive or negative experience at motels, restaurants etc and sometimes you need to check places out to see the place for yourself. But I would def recommend this motel for a stopover.
This hotel was gross. The smell of the room was intolerable almost. Dead bugs all over the window sills. I'm extremely upset that I used any of my rewards points towards this hotel. I still wouldn't have paid the discounted price while using my points... Very upsetting guys
First impression was walking into a chemical smelling lobby, was repulsive. Then, the manager decided to disregard the price I was promised when I reserved the room 6 weeks prior. There was a big event in town and they figured they price gouge.I found another room 45 mins out of my way, but it was better than staying at that dump.
I have nothing negative to say. The room was spotless, clean bathroom, even the lobby smelled clean. Room service was prompt. Polite. I honestly don't know why there are so many bad reviews. The front desk answered all my questions. Slight smell of cigarette smoke, but honestly this is a non smoking hotel I think, so it may not be the owners fault. I'd come here again.
Very slow check-in Room stunk of smoke No Iron No Do not Disturb sign We per cancelled the first night, instead of cancelling the first night, they changed it at the end, then wanted to charge me because it was not within 24 Hrs. Had to make another trip back to the hotel, after some arguing, finally convinced them it was there mistake, finally got my account cleared. Wasted an hour of my time. I stay in hotels all over the East Coast, by far the worst, never again.
