This review is long overdue but I just have to leave one on this place! We stayed here in Mar 2017 as a last minute booking. My husband, 4 year old daughter and I drove down from St Louis area to stay at the military base for spring break. Well, short story is we had to cancel our on base reservation at the last minute, after driving 12 hours. To say the least, we were a little panicked to find a budget friendly hotel for the week. My mom and I actually researched hotels at the same time and both came up with this one as the best option. Free breakfast, nice indoor pool, wonderful staff, clean spacious rooms, and everything looked update and high end. We loved our stay here and would give it 10 stars if we could. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a room. Only down side is, it isn’t on the beach but the beach was a 5 minute drive with plenty of free parking. To stay on the beach, you could pay 3 times as much. So we were very happy with our stay and all that we saved with going to this hotel.
Book this hotel for 4 nights. The north wind blew through our north facing room at about 35-40 mph. and it was freezing. The seal from the window unit had come apart. We were told that there where no available rooms; so we had not choice but to stick it out. We got towels from the front desk and blocked out as much cold and wind as we could. Day 2 we asked tobe transferred to another room (room 201) Thank goodness we checked it out before packing up all of our things, because that room was just as bad if not worse. So we stayed in room 418. The next two days were ok. There was a strong smell of natural gas. I reported that. Was told that the dryers were on downstairs and that she would have the girls shut the vents in the laundry room. Each morning we had to deal with that smell. Thankfully no one lit a match; the place would have exploded. The lobby furniture was awful and clearly dirty. The website for this hotel should have mentioned that it was undergoing a renovation. Day 3 it got cold again and the wind was very high that night (Sunday night) My 21 month old great niece ended up with a head cold due to the wind exposure. I do not recommend this establishment. STAY AWAY ! We purchased baking soda to pour down the drain in the bathroom because it smelled so bad. The fixtures throughout the room were falling down. I called ChoiceHotels to relay our experience. They offered a $50 gift card for compensation.. I told the gentleman that it was not about the money, it is about what we had to endure. So my advice is to stay away at least until the renovation is complete because this place is truly in need of repair.
To my dismay, this hotel does not have beach acess, even though the location on the website looks like it does. On a very busy street that you cannot cross. All of the hotels on the beach have blocked off acess. You must drive to get to the beach. Also, the day we went, the indoor pool and spa were being treated and closed. Very very dissapointed . We were driving for hours and wanted to stretch and swim.. This pool was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. However, hotel was clean , friendly and served a good breakfast.
Stayed for a four night vacation, Check in was easy, staff was always very friendly and helpful, even down to afternoon cookies. Room was large and clean and was cleaned each day. TV was excellent with many channels, internet was good and fast, one of the better ones I've seen. The hot breakfast was good each day and was kept well stocked. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub also.
I was in Fort Walton Beach last evening and stayed at the only Comfort suites in the area. Upon checking in and getting in my room I noticed the following. The room was not vacuumed, there was trash(candy wrappers) on the floor between the bed and the air conditioner, a large dark wet stain in the middle of the ottoman that accompanies the chair and used Q-tip on the floor in the bathroom. Furthermore, the indoor pool and Jacuzzi was closed and out of service and the treadmill in the gym was out of order. Lastly, the deadbolt on my door(room 111) was broken and would not lock. I didn't find this out until 10:00 PM as I was going to bed. I am Diamond with Choice and stay two hundred nights a year in their hotels. I will not however be staying at this property again.
We needed to stay one night in Fort Walton Beach FL and picked Comfort Inn & Suites at 137 Miracle Strip Pkwy. We are very familiar to this area and chose this hotel above all others because it was centrally located, had a view of the water and had had a very nice stay once before. What made this stay even better was the grace and efficiency in which Kimberly at the Front Desk handled our reservation, made sure our room was ready and chatted about the area which is always helpful. The room was beautiful, large, clean and modern. You'll love this hotel for its convenience and friendliness especially if you have Kimberly at check-in!! ALSO this hotel has washer and dryers it you need them and a great free breakfast!
Exceptional Hotel! We checked in and half an hour later, they called our room to make sure everything was ok, which was something we have never had at another hotel before. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the amenities were in very good condition. When we had some problems with our TV, the lady at the front desk came right away and even though she was only able to temporarily fix the problem, she promised to have it fixed the next day and sure enough, our TV was working the next day. The complimentary breakfast was great, and the people at the front desk were always so friendly, giving us directions and tips for beaches and restaurants. Debbie, one of the managers, was exceptionally friendly. One breakfast, she came around to each of the tables to strike-up conversations with the guests. We had never seen that before! Debbie was an encouragement and a role model for us on what our attitude should be like too. In terms of location, the hotel was only a 10 minute drive from the beach, which was great too.
I stayed here because of the reviews but I didn't have the same experience. I couldn't find the front desk staff when checking in. No note that she is away, no number to call. Then it took her quite a while to get me the room keys. Not sure what the holdup was. The room had some pretty nasty carpets. See pics. I was there for business so I use the desk. It doesn't have a desk chair. Just a regular chair it looks like they salvaged from the breakfast area. Desk was dirty. Bathroom was dirty. Tub was dirty. I will not be giving this place another try until maybe when they remodel.
Everything was amazing with our recent visit from 8/8/17 thru 8/12/17 in Room 323. First of all, if you go there, the staff will always be there for you. We like them so much, we knew their names. Debbie, Kristin, Daphne(Penelope - HA!!), Aaron, Letty and the other guy that works at the front desk. I forgot his name. We were greeted with a very warm welcome. We got to the room and I said to my mom, I love this place. The room was super clean. We had a fridge, microwave, small coffee maker among other good things. The bathroom was super clean too. They provided us free breakfast that had all the trimmings. A very tasty variety of breakfast food. Very, very reasonable rate!! They also have conference rooms and a business area where you can use their computer, etc. I highly recommend that you check this place out if you go to Fort Walton Beach!! Its not right on the beach, but the beach is less than a mile away! Fort Walton Beach is a friendly and quaint place with great restaurants and beaches! Oh, the Comfort Inn also has an indoor pool and hot tub and washers and driers.
I have stayed in this particular place once before when it was brand new. I remember how my stay was then and how is was this time, and other then the worn torn vinyl on the arm of the desk chair, it was pretty much the same. I feel they could have updated the furniture and used the space a little better than it was, but that being said, I slept comfortable, had a mini refrigerator for my medications, and had a simple free breakfast downstairs each morning. There was a safe in the room, desk and TV with the standard single cup coffee pot, ironing board, and a writing desk. The air conditioner worked very well and the lamps had electrical outlets on them to help from finding one behind the night stand or bed. The rooms were very clean and the housekeepers were very sweet and willing to provide extra towels and coffee. The front desk personnel were very cordial. There is a swimming pool, laundry room, and a small conference room on the first floor. If you like Pizza Hut, there is one right next door! They even deliver to your room! This hotel is centrally located on the Miracle Strip and across the Main Street from the interior beach with a great view both ways. This place is far from a luxury hotel, but on a middle class retired persons budget, it was great compared to what I've paid for in the past. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family and will most likely stay here again when I visit Ft Walton Beach, Florida.
