Weekend getaway

Very surprised with this property, although an old property it has been updated. The amenities such as the private beach and water rentals was a plus. All staff was polite and friendly. One disappointment was not being able to apply my stay for choice awards eventhough it was a choice property. It was booked through this site.

The new pool area was great but the hours were terrible. Room was nice but to pay extra for the “bay view” was not worth it because it looks out to a parking lot and everyone can see in when they are parking. Breakfast was not great.

So disappointing

The room had the worst slippery floor I have ever walked on .. I fell over and hurt my ankle due to it. The room was tidy but not clean. The towels were so thin you could see through them. The phone didn’t work, I had to ring the front desk due to the WiFi not working for 2 out of the 3 days I stayed. I went to get breakfast on my last day and there was no one around to ask to refill the eggs! The little beach at the back of the place was the perfect place to have breakfast, that was my only positive!

This definitely could have been a five-star experience if it weren’t for the breakfast. Am I saying this is a five-star hotel? Absolutely not—but I base my rating on my personal experience, not just appearances. From the start, the staff was incredible. The manager was attentive and professional, and Monique at the front desk was exceptional—definitely a five-star employee! She made check-in smooth and welcoming. The location is perfect—close to everything you might need. While the property is older, the interior was refreshed, clean, and smelled great. My room was spotless, with a sparkling clean bathroom and no grime in the corners (which I always check!). I also had a room facing the water, which gave it an elegant, peaceful feel. The pool area had a natural, earthy vibe thanks to the huge, beautiful trees, and you can even rent jet skis and pontoon boats right behind the hotel—huge plus! Now, where things fell short was breakfast. It’s included, which is appreciated, but the quality was lacking. The waffle mix tasted like cardboard, the eggs didn’t feel real, and there was no protein provided—supposedly due to a delivery issue. And the coffee? Unfortunately, it didn’t hit the mark either. They really need to revisit their breakfast offerings if they want to elevate the guest experience. All in all, I’d still recommend this hotel and would stay again. But with a better breakfast, this would’ve eas

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) This was our first time visiting the Fort Walton/Destin area, and we booked our stay through Expedia. Honestly, I don’t understand why this hotel has a low rating—our experience was nothing short of wonderful. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. There’s a nice outdoor pool and even a pizza restaurant right next door, which was super convenient. One of our favorite features was the small private beach with a dock, beach chairs, and picnic tables. Every evening, we brought our dinner back to the hotel and had a relaxing picnic on the beach while watching the sunset over the water. Our kids absolutely loved it—they said it was their favorite part of the trip! After dinner, they enjoyed playing in the sand and water while we relaxed. Breakfast was decent, and I want to give a special shoutout to the tall gentleman with glasses (Boris)—he was always helpful and attentive. Christy at the front desk was phenomenal and went out of her way to help us with our late check-in. The new manager (Handon) was just as great during our checkout. Honestly, the entire new staff was incredible—welcoming, friendly, and clearly committed to making our stay enjoyable. We’re a family of five, and we genuinely appreciated the warm and family-friendly atmosphere.
