Super 8 Humboldt IA

I stay at this Super 8 location once every two weeks. It's location is in a small town, so there is not a lot of traffic that comes through. That reduces the potential noise level. The only issue is that each room I stay in has a certain smell that I can't place. It's a thick, and moist smell. Makes for a solid night's sleep hard to come by.

My room was comfortable and clean, but the price was a few bucks too high I think compared to other Super 8s.

Stayed 2 nights. Rented three rooms. Pretty much as expected. Room was clean and ok, breakfast ok. No complaints.

My stay at Humboldt Super 8 was very disappointing. I was treated badly when I needed to cancel my reservation for an upcoming date. They wanted a reason and was down right rude to me. They have lost a customer. So disappointed.

Room service was non existent, had to request towels when needed. Bugs were visible by myself and others. Air conditioner was very loud and I was told there was nothing wrong with it I had to wipe down my own bathroom at check in , hair was everywhere. Had mold in my shower, and in the tiles above my shower. Not a pleasant stay!

I would not stay there again. The hallways were so hot and the maids did not always thoroughly clean our rooms. I was in the same room for 15 days before they vacuumed my room again. They hallways were not cleaned very well either!

In the course of our business, we travel all over the US, and frequent budget motels (as well and everything in between campsites to downtown hotels.) Because our booking often happens on the fly, I rely heavily on guest reviews, which are a generally good guide. I have no idea how this place scores consistently high marks, even considering the low price point. The rooms are in acceptable condition, except for an overpowering swampy mildew smell. At first we though this was from the walk-in shower in the accessible room, but after moving to another room, found it there as well. If we'd had other options (we cashed a freebie and were at the end of our travel budget) we'd certainly have sought other accommodations. There are also no viable eateries in town, though the grocery store down the street had some options for the one night stay. If we work in the area again, we will definitely find a spot a little south in Fort Dodge, and recommend others do the same.

Nice, quiet, clean. Breakfast was a little sad...typical hotel fare...nothing bad. I will stay there again. One weird thing - as I was packing up to check out, I noticed a black sock in a corner behind the luggage rack. Not mine. Wonder how long that was there...I was there 2 nights and nobody noticed it.

Room was comfortable. Cleaning was sketchy. Bed not made properly . Host was unaware of my room request for a single and the rebate I had been offered. Please remove me from membership in club. I do not travel enough to make it worth the cost.

My room smelled terrible. I kept the windows open. Also had spiders. Hair dryer was broken. There was garbage in my room from previous occupants. Lots of noise.
