This is truly a jungle lodge. It's inside the park, so you hear the wildlife. It's like other wilderness lodges I've seen, limited hours of electricity (bring a flashlight), some unique quirks, but all very nice. The restaurant is quite good too.
Quiet and great location for tours We was having and alacrán in our bathroom
Amazing wildlife just outside your door. Shared bathrooms are a bit of an adjustment, but are clean and comfortable, and the water is hot! The restaurant was a bit expensive, so I mostly ate at the Cafe in the visitors center, and the wifi is not great, but this is the middle of the jungle and I was there for the Ruins, so it wasn't expected and didn't really matter. Overall, a great stay.
The room was beautiful - very clean and comfortable. It was wonderful to wake up in the jungle. The food is a bit expensive, compared to other areas in Guatemala, but that will be the case anywhere in Tikal.
It is not that far from Flores so make Tikal a day trip instead. At least in Flores you have some choices on lodging quality, food, and cocktails that actually have liquor in them. Jungle Lodge only has electricity a few hours per day. The rooms are like saunas they have a very cheap ceiling fan that does you no good because 1-it hardly moves the air and 2-you usually don't have electricity! There is no way to cool your room down even if there is a breeze because the window is to small and you can't open the door because of all the bugs. I mean a lot of bugs of all kinds. You are highly over charged for the food which is poor quality and all taste the same. There are hardly any people yet staff is standing around not providing service. The only place people are is by the pool yet apparently that is just too far away for the staff to bother providing service.
