Strozzi Palace Hotel

I booked another hotel; Orbitz switched us to this place due to "overbooking". Definitely NOT 4-star quality, rather disappointing. Felt like a 2-star. Breakfast marginal, only amenity in bath was bad shampoo/shower gel. Nice to have bath robe, though. TV small and marginal service. Most employees helpful and nice. Room furnishings very old and tired. This place needs SERIOUS remodeling. Styrofoam water cup in room was dirty inside on arrival. One of the receptionists smoking in the lounge area but cigarette hanging out of window. Also, outside front door with door open. Italy is bad enough with smokers everywhere, but when you book a non-smoking room, smoke should not be leaking in! Although the location is very central to tourist attractions, it's difficult to get a good night's sleep because of the street noise at night - all night. Too many loud drunks yelling. And we are sound sleepers. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, at least not as anything above 2-star quality.

It is good value for the price. The staffs are friendly. The furnitures in the room can be improved.

Our GPS got lost on the way to find this hotel :), however once we got there, staff was very helpful, they got our car parked and provided us with rooms. large rooms at the center of the city, all attractions less than 15 min walk. Brakefast is basic, but more than sufficient, wifi works, rooms are clean. We would stay here again. It can be noisy outside the hotel in morning, this is the center of the city. We would stay here again.

When I walked in the door to check in the front desk immediately explained to me, in very good English, that they had been having computer problems and they actually didn't have a room for me, but they had already mad a reservation for me at another hotel of the same standing, in the same area, were calling a taxi to take me there on them...and was there anything else they could help me with? So even though I didn't actually get to stay there, I would still say this is a wonderful, well run hotel!

The location was great. We were close to most of the museums and cathedrals as we as to the shopping. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom was huge for Europe and was very nice. I am a world traveler and other then Japan I have never got any toothpaste in any other hotels other then this one. Another huge plus was there was free wireless internet. Breakfast was decent. There was no curtain or walls for the showers so when you showered water got everywhere. Compared to the other services the towels were not great. Also the elevator was sort of small. All in all though I would highly recommend this hotel and on my next visit to Florence I will stay here again.

I am not too sure how this is a 4-Star hotel. Compared to the other hotels I stayed at during my travels through Italy, this would be a 2-Star or possibly 3-Star at best. The rooms were dingy, and the service was terrible. What really turned me off is that we were in a room on the top floor, and it was very warm and humid that day. The hotel claimed to have air conditioning in all of the rooms, but when we inquired about it, they said that their system can either be turned to heat or cooling for the whole building. Their excuse for not turning on the cooling was because they claimed they had lot of older people staying there and they like the heat on when they get out of the showers. Obviously a lie because they did not want to turn their system on. They also claimed they did not have a different room on a lower floor, but since you can tell if someone is in the room just by walking down the hall way and looking at the room's power system outside of the doors. It was obvious the building was half empty. On the plus side, it is located in a great location. I would just recommend any of the other dozen plus hotels within a couple blocks of it.

The room was very comfortable and the staff very helpful. They spoke enough English to communicate about anything that I might need.

We really enjoyed the Strozzi.
