After first night there I was bitten all over my body. First I thought it was mosquitos but later turned out it was bed bugs. I had 50 bites just on one hand. I had to go to doctor and spent 25 euros for medications. I had to take antibiotics for a week. I looked like a diseaster. I coulnd't stop myself from scratching and now Im gonna have scars for probably at least one year. My friend had worse because the bed bugs traveled with her to her home and she had to spend around 120 euros for disinfection of her apartment. We wrote complaint to the hotel and they didnt even replay. The perfectly know about the problem and they don't do nothing about it. They pretend to be nice but the truth is that they are cheaters, never ever stay there.
Rooms are not clean, very bad smell from the toilet , toilet in general(bowl, shower...) are old. The linen on the bed are clean but the mattres are uncomfortable. No Ac so u will wake up the next day with red skin from the mosquitos. No elevator so it was so difficult for us to carry the luggage and the stroller. When u enter u will feel directly how dirty this place is specially if u have baby.
I rented this hotel for my daughter for one night, June 2015. She rang the bell when arriving but no one answered the bell. The hotel was loud, TV played in the lobby all night. The shower curtain was full of mold. They insisted she pay for breakfast, although the room was supposed to include breakfast for 2. She skipped this and ate somewhere else. When I contacted the hotel with my concerns I did not receive a response. My daughter was afraid to get into the bed and slept on top the bed for the night. I would not stay here.
We got this room through Hot Wire, so we did not know what the hotel was before we paid... and it was our worst hotel experience ever. The service was very poor and the breakfast more than disappointing, but the worst was our bedroom. 3 single beds : one uncomfortable, one very uncomfortable and one extremely uncomfortable. Plus, the drain of the shower was jammed, so the WHOLE floor in the bathroom was flooded everytime we shower. We complained but nothing was done. DO NOT GO THERE.
The positives first: the location of this hotel is great, within walking distance of the city centre and the train station. The staff was friendly and spoke well enough English. But there is a huge negative here: bedbugs and lots of them. Found them on the bottom and top of the matress and on the floor. Locally bought bugspray helped with this problem but sadly all other reviews of bedbugs are true.
I generally don't write bad reviews but in this instance I feel like I must warn fellow travellers. Pros * Good location Cons * Dirty * poor WiFi connection, basically unusable from room * shower shared with toilet * BED BUGS!!! I woke up and I literally found 3 live bed bugs on my bed and lots of bite marks on my legs. I reported to reception and they gave me a new room. In the middle of the night at 1 am when my partner woke up to go to the toilet, we saw more bed bugs. There was no 24 hour concierge and could not find any contact number to call them. We basically spent the next 7 hours trying to sleep on the chairs leaning against the wall. Worst experience ever! We complained the next morning but reception was not very helpful and didn't seem to empathise with us. All they offered was a 'sorry' which quite frankly isn't good enough. Thankfully it was my day there.
As soon as we walked into the lobby our heats sank. The place is filthy, it's basically a dump. Our room was awful! I broke out in some sort of rash from the bed (it wasn't bed bugs), we found a pair of OLD MOLDY socks in the nightstand, and the bathroom...oh man! We didn't shower our entire stay there because of the 'shower' which is right beside the toilet with a moldy shower curtain dividing it. There was a chipped up stool under the shower head with a used, dirty shower mat sitting on it. She has the nerve to charge you 5E a day for air conditioning which you will use because the air in the room is stuffy and musty. There are BARS ON THE WINDOWS! and construction will wake you up in the wee morning. Need an extra towel? You pay Euros for that. Need an extra pillow? You pay Euros for that. Need another blanket? You pay extra Euros for that too. The hotel is very loud too; if it's not people shouting first thing in the morning then it's her tv that is blaring in the lobby. She cleaned our room every second day we stayed there and by cleaning I mean making the bed. Worst part of our holidays.
Stayed there for two nights. The first inconvenient we encountered was the check in. I find it unbelieable that in such a visited city as Florence, check in time in a hotel is only for a couple of hours until 7pm. If you contact them to check in at a later time, they dont know what to do. I have to call twice to see if we could arrange a later time, they wanted a specific hour but travelling is very difficult to calculate, so we arrived half an hour late that the hour we told them and the receptionist phoned us fuming... For the rest, nothing to highlight, the place was cleaned, a bit expensive for the type of hotel... For this price I would go to a hostel with a 24hrs reception.
I must admit that I let my boyfriend to book the hotel this time and when we arrived it was a nice surprise. The room was very cheap what was definitely convenient. I didn’t read any reviews, especially here, and this was my big mistake. It’s all true what people write here. Bathroom is small, toilet shared with shower, but that’s ok for the price. Indeed there is a charge for everyday of 4E, air tax or however it is call. All the hotels do that. Wi-fi is not great; the room is just very basic. It was fine for me as it was only for one night. The worst though was the next day. I got home without any problems; however, I had this itchy spots on my skin. The next day when I woke up, half of my face grew up due to the bites; one hand was doubled sized due to the bites and the other hand only one finger fortunately grew bigger. I have been severely bitten during the night. I had to go to the doctor and stayed for 3 days at home. The pain was horrible, the appearance even worse. My all skin got really red. I am a budget traveler but I must admit never before something like that happened to me. If you decide to stay in this place, prepare some insects spray or something to protect you! And yes, it’s close to the center, the only convenient thing about this place. Around the corner is a nice place to have a breakfast so I cannot say how it is in the hotel, but def overprized (they want 5 E per person).
We booked this Hotel for a 4-night stay online. Since the Piccolo advertises having a special agreement with a parking garage and we rented a car, this was one of our decision taking points to choose this hotel. After an exhausting search for the hotel, which is located in a small street, accessable for pedestrians or residential cars, we finally found the hotel. We made the wise decision to first leave our luggage in the car. Entering the hotel, you think you are on a construction site, everything looks old, damaged and empty. A small and unsecrure circular staircase (without elevator!) later, we reached the front desk where we found nobody. The hotel person was smoking on the stairs and - of course - before attending her new guests, she absolutely wanted to finish enjoying her cigarette. We asked for a parking space to leave the car. Her answer: Parking in Florence is very expensive, you will pay around 15-10 € a day. On the question of this special contract they advertise on their website, she answered: "Yes, it is true, you just go to street xx and tell them you would come from us and you pay: 25 € a day". This was the first bomb. But the real touristic Nagasaki was dropped when we first checked out our room. Everything was sooooo filthy, disgusting. The balcony was covered by dove/bird excrements (which is a big health risk) and the nightmare in person was the bathroom. Over and over covered with mould, toilet & shower had a yellow-brown pattina of urine stains and propably also excrement stains. We showed this to the woman and she said: You can of course go to another hotel, I don't mind! We left the hotel 10 min later and have only been refunded 50 % of our payment (without using the room or any amenities!). This was our worst experience EVER!
