first the positives...this property is in a great location...the building is beautiful. The negatives are many.a)I called to inquire what floor this was on and told ssecond floor unfortunatelywhile tecnically true there are 71 stepsto get there and they offer no help whatsoever. b)the breakfast room is tiny and if everyone showed up at same time you would not be able to move around c) the food itself was minimal at best d) if you like wifi that is a problem here.
We informed the management of our time of arrival (outside of normal check-in time). They did not arrive when we said we would be there and a guest had to let us in to the hotel. Management said that there was traffic and they assumed our train would be late. This was an unfortunate start to our stay after traveling for many hours by train. The rest of our stay was adequate. The breakfast was okay with fresh juice, and the housekeepers were so kind and helpful. The rooms were pretty, but I think ours was not as nice as some of the pictures. The bathrooms could have been better equipped, but they were clean and nice. The location is fantastic and it is the best part of this hotel. This hotel does not have 24 hour service as many in Italy today. That is fine, but you should be aware of this. You should also be aware that there are a few floors to climb to get to the guest house floor, but it is handicap accessible.
N4U is a 6 room guesthouse on the third floor of an old Renaissance building, and is very well located in Via del Proconsolo close to the main attractions. The room was beautifully decorated and the bathrooms I take it from other reviews are relatively new and of course really great. In the afternoon the reception is open for 4 hours, and In the morning the housekeeper arranges the breakfast, as soon as we are in the breakfast room she is off making the beds. It seems the management are running the guesthouse on a tight budget. As soon as I booked 6 months ago rather than taking the first night's accommodation as a deposit they debited my card for our entire stay. Our room could of been a little more equipped with a kettle, tea and coffee, glasses for water. Maybe a couple of plates as we sometimes like to eat lunch in the room. I felt they management were lacking a few details. It is very noisy at night as the street is a main thoroughfare. There is double glazing on the window but you have to run the air conditioning as the room does warm up. My suggestion is to supply a fan in the room to circulate the air. Otherwise a very good location and a beautifully decorated room.
Excellent B&B right in the heart of the City. Recently re-vamped so all rooms are ensuite. Breakfast is now served in the hotel not down the road. Very helpful staff and excellent housekeeping. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the only downside is number of stairs to access the guest house.
Very comfortable, relaxing and cleaned room and bathroom! A great historical building located in the heart of Florence, I enjoyed the magnificent monuments as Palazzo Vecchio, Duomo and the main shopping street in few minutes by walk. Absolutely the best place and worth it!
The old building is amazing and the location is great but there are better hotels in Florence... The breakfast (you get a breakfast coupon at a nearby restaurant which include 1 hot drink, 1 juice and 1 toast or croissant) was not much to have as a breakfast. The description of the hotel at the bookingsite was not accurate: "private bathroom" says the description, but it does not tell you that the bathroom is located outside your room so you have to go into the common area to use bathroom/shower (but sure, you get your own key so the bathroom is private). It also says at the booking site that the reception is open until 6 pm and for checkin after 6 pm you should contact the hotel, but they do not state the fact that for check in after 6 pm you have an extra fee! (Sure it is not that much, 10 euro, but I think you should still get that info when you book the hotel!). The water pressure in the shower is also the worst I have ever experienced!! Even I f the water is put on max the pressure is so low that it drips straight to the floor after leaving the shower nozzle!
Centrally located in a 700 year old building N4U offers single bedrooms (double beds) with private toilets in the hallway. A common living room is also available. Limited minibar available in the rooms. Parking available (32 euro/day) ~300 meters away.
A warm welcome, nice room as usual. Just a note be careful if you are sensitive to noise, I don't care as sleep with ear plugs and also some rooms have off suite bathroom, but for me it's not an issue...I just mention in case some travellers would mind.
A unique place that is very close to many of the attractions. The stairs were rough, but should be expected as we encountered many of them in our 2 weeks in Italy. Why couldn't DaVinci invent the elevator? Lol. We stayed in the 'New York' room, which was great to have the bathroom in the room along with two extra beds for the kids. Florence was definitely my favorite and I would stay here again. Ensure you know approximately what time you will be arriving, as if its it in the window stated on their web site, you will need to notify them. We didn't pay attention and was an hour earlier, which was ok...we just went around the corner for some lunch. We just had to tote our luggage with us.
We stayed in the room "Paris", beds were very comfortable, room was very clean and our "Paris" bathroom along the hallway was also very clean with a good shower. Bathrobes provided for privacy were welcome. Guiseppe was very kind, carrying our bags up the last four flights of stairs and was very helpful and welcoming. Yes there are a lot of stairs, but the guest house is so central and the room very large, with high ceilings ( and in Paris a lovely mural on the ceiling). Breakfast was along the street the first day and at Reverse Bar the second and third. All good and close by. We had a really comfortable stay at N4U and I would stay there again.
