Hotel Villa Dei Bosconi3.0 out of 5.0

Attended a family wedding in Fiesole in June and stayed at Villa dei Bosconi for 2 nights. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the breakfast had a good variety and we had a lovely room on the ground floor that opened out straight onto the swimming pool area which was stunning. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning on my next trip.
I arrived at Villa Bosconi after 2 nights in a very lacking hotel in Florence. What a difference. Villa Bosconi is run by a "team", someone is always on hand to help you whether it is providing a bus ticket, calling a cab or giving advice. The room and bath were clean and well supplied. The buffet breakfast more American than European in all that if offered. The pool as lovely as it looks in the picture. Such a beautiful location and Fiesole such a relief after the busyness of Florence. Best to stay in the Fiesole area and take the bus which runs often into Florence. One caveat. You do need a car as the little bus that goes into Fiesole from the villa area runs infrequently.
At first sight it looks pretty and the pool is a welcome facility after a long hot day. The room was private , comfortable and clean - more than adequate for our needs. The staff are all helpful and helped us to book taxis and a restaurant. The young chap who cleaned our room each day was charming. Sad to say that the breakfast is the most spartan we've ever had anywhere in Italy - it really was a joyless experience. But I also should mention that you're completely stuffed if you don't have a car. It's a 20 minutes steep walk in and out of town and when you do reach Fiesole, there really isn't much there at all. A very limited bus service and no taxis to hand mean you will struggle to go anywhere. We took the local buses into Florence whenever we could as a means of escaping the sheer tedium of the place. Although there's nothing badly wrong with the hotel, we'd never go again without a car and, pretty though it is, I'm not sure Fiesole is a town I'd ever want to return to.
The location is great, a little outside the cute town of Fiesole, this is a great place to base yourself while exploring the area and the city of Florence. The Hotel is spotless, provide a great continental breakfast with the usual cold meats and cheese etc. The facilities are basic but more than adequate. My favourite was the pool, I enjoyed using it after a days sight seeing around Florence. It's easy to walk into Fiesole in the evening, if you take the camping road it's well lit and has a footpath, also it's quieter than the main road, though it does have a steep incline, but great to work up an appetite for some of the great restaurants in the town.
This is a quiet, nicely appointed 3 star hotel with a nice swimming pool, in a cool spot in otherwise hot Florence region. Highly recommended for staying away from Florentine pollution. The ownership is friendly and breakfast good. I recommend getting an upgrade, for a few extra euros it is worth the better room.
We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Florence. An easy bus ride for €1,20 from the center of Fiesole to San Marco Square in Florence in about 20 minutes. The hotel itself is good. Very friendly and helpful staff/owners. The room is simple and the beds are good. The only downside is that you could see that previous residents had troubles with the mosquitos. A nice swimming pool in a quit athmosphere and a decent breakfast made it a recommendable stay for us.
We stayed at this hotel during our 4 days visit of Florence. We were looking for a peaceful and restful place. This hotel was a perfect match. Situated on the top of the mountains, with a nice view on tuscany landscapes and a great swimming pool. The breakfast was also nice, not a very large choice but was enough for us (prosciutto, cheese, fresh youghurt, fruits, cereals, fresh bakery, etc). The hotel is situated in 20 minutes walking (7min by car) to the center of Fiesole, from where a bus goes to Florence (every 15 minutes) which is very comfortable.
we liked the hotel: people were friendly, breakfast was good, room clean, and of course a great view. We did not use the pool, but it also looked clean and was beautifully located. Unfortunately, you have to go to the village for dinner, but they have some advice, we went to an osteria quite at the beginning of the village on the right side (a very small one) who offered own pasta etc. - which was also great then.
I had a rental car and was out and about for most of my six night stay so the car park & quiet location were brilliant. The swimming pool is a definite 5* on hot summers' evenings to cool down from the 30+ degree heat. Stunning views of Florence & the Tuscan countryside as well made this a great spot to chill. The hotel is a mere 1.6km from the town centre (4min drive). The bus system worked very well for when drinking or merely to avoid having to find a park in town. Staff were excellent on the two nights I came back after 12am & opened the gates once I found the intercom. I have seen lots of negative comments about breakfast which surprise me as I found the range of fresh fruit, ham, provolone cheese & cherry tomatoes and toast or croissants to be simple but certainly more than adequate. They also had modern dispensers which kept the yoghurt, cereal, jams & honey fresh in very cool stainless steel self-serve dispensers (kids would love these!). My room next to the pool (downstairs) was very clean and well maintained. Whilst I carried my luggage down myself & yes... There is no lift, but this is the case with many Tuscan hotels I have found. All in all a great hotel choice as it allowed me to be in peace and quiet away from Florence whilst still having easy bus access from Fiesole. Would def stay again if in the area.
We were not impressed by this hotel. When we arrived we were ignored by the receptionist while she talked to another member of staff. When questioned about space for baby bed (previously arranged via phone) we were told there "may" be space. We had to rearrange the room in order for it to fit. The room was not clean, black marks in bath, dead bugs on wall and cobwebs on windows. Bed sheets were cheap and bed uncomfortable. Swimming pool was nice. Breakfast was terrible, very basic and cheap quality. Told there was no way of heating baby food,(previously asked via phone before booking) then later that there was. When checking out we were told there was an extra 4€ charge on top of agreed rate which we were not told about. When questioned about this the man was quite rude staying "everyone knows there was an extra charge." Paying €120 for a cheap, dirty room was a dampner on our weekend away. I would have said €60-80 would have been reasonable, and it should be cleaned. Certainly wouldn't recommend.
