I read previous reviews after I booked which scared the life out of me (whores outside, toilets not working, dirty bed linen, mosquitos etc). But the receptionist was really nice and booked me an extra night when my flight got cancelled later in the stay. It messed my key card up though twice which meant 2 trips from 6th floor to ground. It is very dated -1970s style. It is very close to the airport (but so is the Ibis which I'll stay again next time I'm here). I was in a back facing room - only noise was the train track but they don't run late/early. Had a balcony but no furniture. Nothing in the mini bar so I got beer and food from LIDL (15 min walk away) to fill it with. The breakfast is OK - all you can eat for €7.50 which works out cheaper than local places (I got a sandwich, OJ and coffee for €7 down the street) and the local McDs doesn't open til 10am. I failed to take heed of the mosquito warnings and got bit 4 times on 1st night. On 2nd night I hunted down and killed 4 of them (see pics). On 3rd day I asked maid for fly spray just in case and got another one (tip - do not leave balcony door open and bring repellent). Don't know why they are there - hardly sub Saharan Africa! Not a 4 star hotel - more a 2/3. Not cheap either - Mon and Tues were €120 each plus rip off city tax of €4.5 (double that of Rome), but extra night was €160 (maybe as she knew I was in need). It gets inundated with coaches of tourists who clog up reception and the (painfully slow) lifts so avoid them.some good restaurants nearby are Aliosous and Ossetia Della Bistecca - cheaper than hotel dinner (€30) which I didn't try. In summary the Mosquitos ruined it for me - hence the warning to others .
The staff really makes up for a number of deficiencies in the physical property. While everything worked in the room and the beds and linens were good, the overall property is showing a lot of wear. The property is close to the airport and an easy walk from nearby restaurants. It is a good choice for a cheap place to stay when you are catching an early morning flight and just need to get some rest. Again, a lot of credit goes to the front desk staff in making the stay a good experience.
Two friends and myself were flying out of Florence in the early morning and needed a place to stay for the night. This place was perfect. They let our friends who drove us to the hotel park there for the day while we explored. They also were very helpful when we first arrived getting us bus tickets and printing off a voucher to use at one of our stops. They also helped us set up a shuttle to take to the airport the next morning. They met our needs quite well. Nothing fancy, but a great place to sleep for the night.
I spent a night here mainly because of the hotel's proximity to the airport. The room was a bit small but comfortable enough. Breakfast had a decent choice as well. Not the best hotel I've stayed at, but not the worst either.
As others have said, this hotel is not 4 stars. My father-in-law booked this hotel for us and we were a bit disappointed when we got to our room as we were expecting more. The lobby is nice but the rooms are very outdated. The bed was decent but the pillows were flat and hard. The location was pretty bad too. I am giving 3 stars because the service was friendly and the buffet breakfast at 6.50 was pretty good. Also, for the price it's not bad.
The property was absolutely filthy. Dirty bed linen with blood stains. Dusty phones. All the rooms were in a poor state of disrepair. There were oil stains on the walls. We were forced to leave the hotel on the same night. The toilets were not working. The restaurant was closed on the day of our arrival and we were not informed. As a result there was also no room service. No airport shuttle for our flight next day. The mini bar was empty. If you need anything from the minibar, you need to go to the reception. The vending machine was not working. No tea coffee facilities in any of the standard rooms, which is something basic you expect from a 4 star hotel. The pictures are a 100% deceptive. We had to leave the hotel at 10pm and had find another hotel after having driven from Pisa. There was No manager on duty at the hotel. The staff was rude. Despite telling them, we were not going to be staying and the fact we left even before completion of our time there, they charged my card for the money. This was after I made an official written complaint to the management. This is an absolutely pathetic hotel. It is so dirty every where, it is just bizarre. I have visited so many countries and stayed at so many hotels. This was the worst experience of my life.
My stay at the place has been not so great. To start with, the wife here is terrible. Toilet kit was never supplied when checked in. Water and tea bags not kept after the first day. To make matters worse, the refrigerator didn’t work. The rooms are a little clumsy with no cupboards or closets. Instead there are these weird high rise desk cabinet system with shakes a lot. The only positive here is the closeness to the airport and the rooms are tidy.
This is the worst hotel we've ever stayed. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Poor service, people are rude, NO air conditioning, noisy rooms, terrible location. Rooms a renovated and look nice but they are very uncomfortable 25 Euros by taxi to Florence center!! We paid for 2 nights and left after one!!! (Would not refund us - was worth it to leave). Worst experience!!! Even if this is the last resort do not stay at this hotel!! Isn't even worth 1 star.
I booked this on my corporate web site. big mistake, did not review online. the corporate rate is more than double the available rates. Everything about this place is bad, horrible outdated, decrepit room, ripped carpet, stains, bugs, horrible internet (I am using my phone personal hot spot). The bed is the most uncomfortable i have stayed in to memory. i have traveled literally globally and the only worst hotel i can recall is in rural Ethiopia, which was a room out of a bad Steven King novel. DO NOT STAY HERE!
We stayed here before an early morning flight out of Florence. The hotel was already noisy--you could hear trains, plans and cars. Then hoards of people arrived--3 bus loads, apparently. They talked at full volume in the hall, making incredible noise. Don't stay here if you want a quiet night's sleep
