Hotel Mirage4.0 out of 5.0

My family and I was on vacations, and we stay just one night in this “hotel”. Was a nightmare, the shower of the room was veeryy small and the air condition don't work. The night was long and hot. One of my family members a room in other part of the hotel. There was terrible, looks like a wagon. We don't have any complains about the food or the staff. The lobby was the only nice part of the hotel. Very disappointed.
I'm someone who doesn't typically write reviews unless moved to write. We stayed at Hotel Mirage last Saturday evening. It was one of only a handful of options available to us because the town was full due to Firenze Rocks. Bathroom was ridiculously small. There were no outlets near the beds. The breakfast hours on a Sunday are a bit tight for my taste - we got to the restaurant at 10.10 and they were already closing up shop because they serve breakfast up until 10am. Mah. The server was very sweet though and brought us 2 cappuccini without being too fiscal about the hours so hats off to him. But the worst part is that I'm 99.9% sure I got lice there because I'm very allergic to them and that night started itching terribly. Last night I checked and sure enough, found an adult louse on my head. The staff at the desk were very professional and prompt, so no complaints there. I think it's a general management issue, not an issue with the young staff who are trying their best. Place needs renovation and possibly a fumigation for bugs.
We were robbed!!! They stealed our credit cards when we were away, but they didnt succeed because we received messages fron the bank on our phones. They denied their employees did it even though they knew it wasnt the first time. Thieves!!!! The ladies at the reception were rude and they called us liars. They laughed when we called the police. This is a disgrace. Im disgusted. Do not go to this hotel!
We stayed here overnight after having had to fond accomodation at short notice. We chose Mirage as it was near to where we needed to be. The hotel advertises itself as 4 star but this, in my opinion, is not the case, even by the standards of Italian hotel ratings. The pluses- the hotel has free secure parking, the bed was large and the bed linen was good quality. There was also a kettle in the room and a selection of tea and coffee as well as slippers and a range of toiletries. The bathroom was a good size and the room was reasonably clean. Breakfast was nice. The negatives? The generale condition of the hotel is grubby and neglected. For example, the carpet in the lifts was dirty and worn and hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. Windows and doors are dirty and the entrance and lifts are in need of a wash. We were apparently given an upgraded room but this had no space for normal sized luggage. Really the air of neglect was overwhelming. Generally, a good two star but nowhere near 4. A reasonable price and standard for a last minute stop gap near the airport.
Groups of school kids up all night, a platform in the shower which slips and slides and is an accident waiting to happen. We were supposed to have a room with a shower/tub. It was supposed to be a smoke-free hotel but they allowed smoking which came into my room. They said they couldn't do anything about it unless they saw damage! The room was hot since they can't turn the A/C on until after March. Having the door open allowed mosquitos to come in. Between the mosquitos and the school kids up and down the halls and outside late at night, we didn't get much sleep. We booked this through Travelocity. Don't use Travelocity. You don't have any leverage once you have a problem. It took many overseas phone calls to try to get the smoking and shower/tub situation reconciled. The best they could do was move us to another room. That wouldn't help the smoking situation since the smoke seeps through the ventilation system. Don't stay here.
We were driving around Italy camping but had booked a couple of nights in hotel’s for some home comforts. DO NOT STAY HERE. Unless you want to be eaten alive and boiled to death! You can’t have the air conditioning on in March due to the Florence environment rules however it must be ok to have the heating on full blast which you cannot turn off. You can’t use the toilet properly as it feels like you are eating out of the sink. Spent the night being bitten by mosquitoes after making the mistake of opening the door to avoid heat stroke. WiFi doesn’t work properly. The window shutters hitting the windows. Groups of school kids shouting off of balcony’s and running up and down the hallway from midnight onwards. The hotel is so overpriced we feel robbed! We could hear the trains go passed. The receptionist was ignorant and didn’t ask us how our stay was which you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The lifts are slow and tiny it’s quicker to walk. This establishment is not even worth 2 stars for the facilities etc. We are deeply saddened and disappointed.
This is a very outdated hotel. Carpet is gross. Bathrooms are very small, the lobby stinks and the elevator is extra small. For a hotel with an average to high price looks a lot like a motel. Photos are deceiving. I wanted to leave the very moment I stepped in. DO NOT STAY HERE Only positive note front receptionist is amazing. BARBARA was so kind professional and helpful.
Hotel Mirage must have gotten a facelift since the last string of bad reviews, because I didn’t experience anything close to the problems of what many other guests have described. I visited on a school trip and stayed in the main section of the hotel, on the ground floor. I had 3 roommates; our room was spacious enough to accommodate us with room to spare, containing decent beds, a modern TV, and clean bathroom. The hotel provided us dinner on a particularly late night and the meal was filling and authentic. Breakfast was provided but minimalistic; however, the hotel’s proximity to cafes would allow guests to leave in the morning for a more satisfying experience. The staff was quite friendly and the environment felt secure. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews! Mirage may not have met the typical American expectation of a 4-star hotel, but it will give you a pleasant place to stay in Florence.
Absolutely abysmal! It says 4stars :-))))) Even the flags outside the hotel have given up the ghost! Shabby, dirty, old, filthy, grime...what else? I was given a single room, bed was short, bumpy damp, smelled dirty. The wall around the bed had black grime(!!!wtf?!!!) Carpet was worn. Got reception to move me to another room. A double room at least. Slightly cleaner. I never understand hoteliers who have no shame hosting guests in filthy dirty dilapidated rooms. This is Florence, not somewhere in Timbuktu!! Haven’t had breakfast here yet... Now i need to go and wash!
A friend and I chose to stay the night due to proximity to the airport since we had early morning flights out of Florence. The hotel carpet was not one you would want to be barefoot on - sticky and dirty. The restaurant served the single bad meal we had in 2 weeks in Italy - salty, not fresh, and very strange mirrored decor throughout the dining room. The elevator barely fit two people with suitcases - and the garage door style terrace door was extremely difficult to open or close. The bed was terribly firm and u comfortable. If you have another option - try elsewhere
