Hotel, well situated for all attractions. Able to walk everywhere. We had a view over the Ponte Vecchio Roof garden pretty. Evening a good place to have a late drink, or you morning breakfast. Rooms quaint, unpretentious. Staff friendly and very helpful. They even provided me with extra gluten free food for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel in a very central location. We were able to walk everywhere and pop in to freshen up if we got too hot. Very cosy room. Very friendly and hospitable staff. Good breakfast in the small airy restaurant. Rooftop terrace was ideal to relax in the evening with a drink.
Hotel nice, staff is polite and helpful, breakfast is good, and can having breakfast in the roof terrace with beautiful view of Ponte Vecchio. Location is excellent. Overally very good 😊 Surely will return!
We spent part of our honeymoon here 20 years ago and returned with our children this year. We were so happy to see that it is every bit as lovely as it ever was! We even found our entry in the old guest book and showed it to our kids! The rooms are small but well appointed, clean and comfortable and the location can't be beat (overlooking the river, the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi). The breakfast room, lounge and outdoor terrace add to the allure of the Hermitage. They are great spaces to relax and unwind with a drink, read a book or talk with fellow guests, or just gaze at the rooftops.
For first time visitors to Florence, you can't beat the location: the Ponte Vecchio is right there and the Uffizi Gallery is around the corner. That's great for first time tourists, but it also means you are surrounded by tourists all the time. The Hermitage is a great oasis from the hordes, however. There is a beautiful roof top garden with views of the Arno River and of the Duomo and that romantic Florence skyline. After a day seeing the sights, it's nice to relax up there amidst the flowers and grapevines. If that gets too hot, there's also a nicely air conditioned sitting room. The dining room is also very nice with good views. The breakfast offerings are fine, if unmemorable by Italian standards (and I have high standards for Italian food!) Our room on the fourth floor was fine, although small with dated decor. All part of the shabby-quaint vibe. The bathroom was nice and big. The staff were very nice and helpful. Our train didn't leave until late, but the concierge told us we could use the sitting room, bathroom, and terrace all we wanted after we'd checked out. I'd certainly recommend the Hermitage!
My husband and I stayed here 4 nights and didn't want to leave. Yolanda and Monica were absolutely wonderful, along with all staff members. Excellent, spacious immaculate room, modern bathroom, outstanding elegant breakfast room and buffet, beautiful terrace and well appointed, inviting lounge to meet friends. Excellent location, steps from Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Truly the most enjoyable stay we had on our entire trip through Italy. The Hermitage Hotel is one of the reasons we want to return to Florence in the Fall. Thank you Hermitage! We'll be back! B. Fitch
Lovely hotel, perfectly situated for all attractions. Typical italian style rooms, breakfast was good and service was excellent. Roof top bar was a nice feature. Can recommend and will stay here again.
Don C's review was spot on! We found ALL the reception staff extremely helpful. We stayed for 5 nights in May and could not have made a better choice (2 couples). The terrace was amazing, the sitting room/bar area by the reception was relaxing, and the breakfast room was a cheery delight each morning. Yes, the elevator was extremely small, but common for Europe. Yes, there were a lot of stairs (again, common and to be expected). If we could have changed one thing it would have been the mattress (much too firm), but we managed.
I've been trying to come up with things to dislike about this hotel but I simply haven't found any. The location and staff were stellar and the room and furnishings were beautiful. Monica at reception was who we dealt with the most and she was amazing. From suggestions on where to eat to setting up our taxi for the day we left she did it all while being friendly and easy to talk to. Breakfast was standard but always fresh, the rooftop garden terrace was peaceful and by far the most beautiful rooftop within sight with direct views of the river. The air conditioning worked great and was very helpful after long hot mornings of sightseeing. the beds were firm but comfortable and hard to stay awake in. The only negative type things I can think of are that you do need to go up a flight of stairs to enter the hotel so it is not wheelchair friendly and the lift is on the smaller side which is standard for older hotels in Europe. All in all its one of the nicest hotels with one of the best staff that I have ever stayed in.
We stayed here for 4 nights as the first leg of our honeymoon and overall we were very pleased with the hotel. The location is great, everything you want to see/visit in Florence is walking distance and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit on the small side, but thats to be expected as its in the historic/tourist district. We had low water pressure in our shower, only real complaint we have.
