I recently visited Hotel Hermitage while on my Honeymoon in Italy. The Hotel is in an excellent location right next to the Ponte Vecchio Bridge with easy access to both the North and South Sides of Florence. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. My Italian is very rough and the staffs English is surprisingly excellent. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast of small pastries and meats and cheese with some price packages. The hotel lounge and roof deck are lovely places to spend the afternoon with a glass of wine overlooking the river. The rooms were smaller than expected with very small bathrooms, but overall I would recommend this hotel based on location and service.
Really liked this place. It's right by the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi-well located. Staff was very kind and happy to help with questions. Breakfast was great especially the cold cuts. They have a roof top patio. The jasmine was blooming and you have a view to a number of Florence's "sights." Would happily go back. I could hear my neighbor coughing a but thats the only bad thing I have to say.
We arrived by train from Florence, the hotel website suggests it’s a 15 minute walk from the station but we say ‘grab a taxi’ we wish we had... after a car free Venice we weren’t ready for Italian drivers in a city built for horses and pedestrians! This hotel as a perfect location and that was brilliant for our two days in this magical city. We were right at its heart. Once you get used to the top floor reception it works! The gorgeous breakfast room and the delightful residents lounge are great, the rooftop terrace cluttered and our bathroom tired but the friendly service and the lovely breakfast means we would stay again and encourage you to also.
We have stayed here many times over the last 25 years. The breakfast is delicious, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is unbeatable. Close to the Uffizi and Pitti Palace. A hidden gem!
Positives: This hotel is located right by the Ponte Vecchhio. It has a great, sunny, common area where breakfast is served. Breakfast is ok: scrambled eggs, pastries, some meats and cheese. There's also the roof which has a wonderful view of the Ponte Vecchio. Negatives: It was incredibly noisy at night while I stayed. There was a party or some event right over my room (#413), and until 2am I heard music, loud laughing/talking, and SO MANY HIGH HEELS CLUNKING. When I called the front desk to ask when the event would end, they hung up on me. I called again and they did not pick up. There are steps leading to the first floor, and no one helped with the luggage. The bed covers were very, very old (see pics attached) and scratchy. The bathroom was basically in two parts: one standing jacuzzi type 'shower' that was a contraption to figure out. It is see through and totally not conducive if you're traveling with someone you're not intimate with (see pics attached). Additionally, the whole room gets humid with a hot bath, and there's no real bath mat, so you're essentially walking out of your bath right onto the ground by your bed, meaning puddles. The second part of the bathroom was tiny: a two foot by one foot area with a toilet and sink. The rugs were super old and dusty (see pics). Room security: clunky keys (like really big) that are a little bit of a hassle to carry while sight-seeing if you're not carrying a bag. You also need to put the key into a sort of socket and leave it in there to 'turn on' the electricity of the room. I would not stay here again. Staff was not helpful and the hotel was overpriced for what it had to offer in terms of comfort.
The Hermitage is tucked away on a quiet little corner very near Ponte Vecchio, consequently could be difficult to spot at first glance. The entrance is at street level but then you take the elevator up to the 5th floor to register. Breakfast is included which is adequate, not stellar. What is shinning about this hotel is the staff---they make excellent recommendations for dinning and also very helpful with directions, more so than the 'luxury' hotel we stayed in in Rome. The assistance seemed quite personal and spontaneous. The room itself was small, oldish, with some things in need of TLC. But it all works and the price is right. And the location is in the hub of things.
Easy to find if youre making your way from the airport- just head for the Ponte Vecchio. Then you realise iits minutes away from everywhere else you have on your itinerary. Lovely roof garden with views of the cities sites. Varied breakfast and lovely helpful staff.
Wonderful location, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooftop terrace and comfortable rooms. I loved every aspect of this hotel which is located right at the Ponte Vecchio. The rooms make you feel like you are the house guest of a beloved Great Aunt (less hotel and more home). I would definitely return.
This old world hotel is charming and steps from the Ponte Vecchio. It was clean and comfortable, small rooms but we were not in the room but to sleep. You can easily reach all sites from this point. We only took a cab to the train station!
This central and adequate bed and breakfast hotel should reinvest in its rather sad state to reflect its true potential. Really convenient at the right end of the Ponte Vecchio, a an easy walk to all that most visit Florence to see, the decor in some rooms is tired and dilapidated, and the breakfast somewhat unimaginative. Will return, but hope things can be put right!
