This is a hotel situated in the middle of the sightseeing points in Florence. In fact, you can see the cathedral, Palazzo Pitti with gardens, the famous Vecchio bridge and Uffizi galleries from the terrace. The breakfast is ok but don't drink the "American coffee". Tell in advance if you need glutenfree bread. We had bad luck and got the room next to the machinery of the elevator. If you're not a very good sleeper, you will wake about six o'clock in the morning when the staff arrives to prepare breakfast. After that all the guests will start using the elevator. On the other hand, we never asked to change room. We already had been helped a lot to be able to upgrade from a single to a double room with very short notice so we felt we didn't want to complain about it. The room was also lovely situated on the top floor. But six o'clock is a bit early when you are on vacation. Though I would have rated the hotel with "a three" because of bad sleeping, I still give it a four, because I never gave the staff any chance to help, as I didn't complain. Besides, the beds were nice and not too hard and that's a rare condition in Italy.
We stayed 4 nights here recently and had a wonderful time. Location is superb, next the Pont Vecchio bridge. Ten minutes from the famous Duomo and tower. Galileio museum and Uffusio museums withing a stones throw, 2 minutes. Excellent breakfast everyday, This rooftop breakfast area sets you up for the day, with the view and the lovely decore. Rooms are European in size, snug for us North Americans but beds are comfortable and deliver everything you expect from a well located older hotel. They keep is very clean and tidy, run well. Staff were eager to help and quick to tell you about their wonderful city. We would stay here anytime.
Perfect location overlooking the Arno River. Steps to the Uffizi Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Piazza della Signoria; an easy 10 minute walk to the Duomo and a few more to the Accademia Gallery (home of Michelangelo's David). Shops and restaurants close by. We enjoyed two great dinners within walking distance: Coquinarius near the Duomo and Trattoria Antico Fattore just a couple of minutes from the hotel. Our room, on the 1st floor, had an amazing view of the Ponte Vecchio. It was nicely decorated with a fully equipped bathroom (bathroom is tight, but fine for one person at a time). To be able to sit on your bed and see the Ponte Vecchio is well worth a smaller bathroom in my opinion! We closed our windows to sleep and had no issues with noise. Beautiful rooftop terrace with views of both the Arno and the Palazzo Vecchio--perfect for picture taking day or night. Lovely sitting room/lounge on the 5th floor for drinks or relaxing as well. Breakfast offered a nice variety and the service was excellent. Sunny and well appointed breakfast room with, again, beautiful views. Check-in was easy and our bags were delivered to our room. We also had an easy check-out and the staff arranged a taxi to take us to the airport without hesitation. Would love to return on our next trip to Florence.
Great location just off North end of the Ponte Vecchio. Minutes from Uffizi Gallery and other attractions. Excellent rooftop garden setting for a European breakfast. Only negative is climbing a flight of stairs to reach the elevator. The elevator is very small. (Will hold two people or one person and a large suitcase). I would definitely stay at the Hermitage again when returning to Florence.
We were only there for one night but it is in a good location overlooking the river, with an easy walk to everything. Small room but a very good value. Friendly helpful staff and nice rooftop patio. Easy cab ride to the train station.
This little hotel is in an incredible location just steps from the Ponte Vecchio, and minutes away from practically all of Florence. Monica and Yolanda were extremely helpful prior to our arrival making various dinner reservations for us, as well as finding some stores close by that were needed for completing business documents. During our 4 day stay other staff members were also very helpful. The hotel is very simple, and some of the rooms should be considered for an update by management. We did enjoy the breakfast room with the view of the Florence rooftops, and the morning staff was very attentive to our needs. A small terrace with a wonderful view of the Arno, Ponte Vecchio, and Palazzo Vecchio, is located one floor above the reception area (which is on the 5th floor), and this space was lovely for relaxing and having an aperitivo after a long day of walking in this incredible city. We would recommend rooms higher than the second floor as they will be less noisy if they face the Ponte Vecchio. Note that if people have mobility problems there are 10 steps at the entrance of the hotel to reach the area where the small elevator is. One other comment is related to services offered at the hotel, and on their website is listed "Sky channels". and from what we saw, there are no Sky channels available. Frankly not a problem for us, but these should not be advertised.
Lovely Quaint hotel with an amazing staff! Spacious room with great view of courtyard. Widow shutters opened to let in a beautiful breeze! Breakfast buffet served on rooftop terrace. Staff will make anything extra you request. Such a great location! Easy walk to all major attractions! Would definitely stay here again!
This is a lovely hotel and Monica was great, very welcoming. I had asked for a pre-packed breakfast as I had a very early morning tour the next day. She told me that they were unable to have it ready that early, but it would be brought up later that day, which it was. The location is just perfect, a few steps to the Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery. Some reviewers had mentioned noise from the street outside. However, the room I had was very quiet. The breakfast was good, but would have liked some more options. This is a "no frills" hotel without a formal lobby, but in no way did this disappoint. All in all I enjoyed my stay there very much and would book it again if and when I return to Florence.
A pleasant hotel with a great location, however one thing I hadn't read before booking is that there is a restaurant/bar on the corner playing loud music until late at night and lots of people smoking and shouting outside. We were only there two nights but would have really spoilt a longer break. Otherwise the hotel was very clean and fine for a short break.
Pros: friendly staff. Small but comfortable rooms. Great location, of course. The terrace is the whole reason for staying there! Cons: fan in bathroom can't be turned off. No view from some of the rooms. VERY noisy building (old house, creaking floor boards) and noisy alley/street outside. Staff accidentally walked into our room early in the morning waking us up; no apology afterwards. Breakfast is short (only until 10am) and medicre; apparently they make coffee and eggs etc to order but we were not told or offered this.
