This hotel is not only in an amazing location, it has great staff too. It is advertised as being very close to the train station, and that's true - it is. What it doesn't advertise, however, is just how close it is to the Duomo, and therefore pretty much all of the main attractions (Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, San Lorenzo, Basillica di Santa Croce etc). To those people complaining about the stairs and the lack of "luggage assistance" - it is crystal clear in the hotel information that the reception is on the first floor and then the rooms can potentially be another couple of floors up again (we were up on the third floor). Do not complain when the hotel has been open and honest about the practicalities! Also, to those who have complained about the staff, I genuinely struggle to understand where you're coming from. The staff have all been absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful to us. I can only assume that it has been your attitude that has lead to your perception of "unhelpful" staff. With regard to the complaints about shared bathrooms and their locations, why book a shared bathroom at all if you're then going to complain about it?! We booked an ensuite double room and it was great - had all the things we needed, including towels, a fan, heating, toiletries and a lovely double bed. Our room was spacious, and everything was totally quiet and peaceful. No noise disturbances at all, despite the proximity to busy areas. We looked on Trip Advisor for ages before booking, and that's taking into account that we'd been to Florence twice previously. We have finally found our "return hotel". It was such a great price for such a fantastic location and welcoming hotel (we also had a lovely breakfast, hosted by a very lovely lady). We wouldn't hesitate to return. Hotel Ferretti - you deserve more than one star!
We were shocked from the whole city because of this hotel! The lady who met us was not nice at all, & it was in the first floor which was really difficult as we had a lot of luggage. Then, we found it was a shared bathroom (maybe that was our mistake that we hadn’t noticed during the reservation but we were really upset anyway), however we tried to upgrade the room but it was full. So, we tried to spend most of the day outside this place. The room was too small & the bed was very small as well although it is a double room! & the smell of the room was really strange too. Later on, The other staff appeared to be better than the old lady. The only 2 good things were the location & the WiFi.
We are really satisfied with this hotel. We have booked a double room with private bathroom and with breakfast included for quite a reasonable price! The hotel is situated in the heart of Florence. All attractions can easily be reached by foot. Despite this, the hotel is situated in a quiet street. It is also close to Florence's Train Station (Santa Maria Novella). The room was nice and always cleaned up. We were also satisfied with the breakfast which included croissants, biscuits, cakes, bread, cereals, coffee machine, juices, butter, cheese, fruit, ham paste , honey, jam and our favorite of all.....Spreadable Chocolate :D. The staff was always very helpful and did their best to help us with our queries. The hotel also kept our luggage after check out in order to continue our trip to Florence till the very end without the hassle of carrying all of our luggage with us! Thank you for your hospitality...we really enjoyed meeting you during our trip to Florence!
This is unquestionably a true budget Pensione. No elevator to reception which is on level 2 and whilst they appear as gracious management face-to-face (heard them chatting to Asian guests and they were most disrespectable when chatted amongst themselves in Italian) they obviously are insular and arrogant by way of their actions. They disregard the smoking laws set be the Italian government, and fail to consider the comfort of their paying guests as upon opening the door you are hit, no sorry punched in the face, with this foul disgusting odour of cigarette smoke - simply unacceptable in this day and age! Granted this dissipated once their shift ends but for us, as our room was just off the reception area, after we stopped with the coughing we then had to use towels to wedge the door preventing second hand smoke coming through the bottom of the door. Room was basic - king made byway of two singles placed together. mattress uncomfortable and pillows thin. They claim that in accordance to Italian health regulations (oh this rule they respect!), towels are only changed every THIRD day . PS hey are not cotton brush towels but linen and waffle cotton towels. ...yuk. Bathroom was old and tired. A Bidet was provided however. All this aside the location is excellent. So in summation if your a healthy, athletic type that doesn't mind second hand Cigarette smoke and scratchy tea towels to dry yourself with then this is an ideal place. Its a One star establishment in an excellent location so go for it!
On the average, hotels in Europe are not cheap. Therefore for that kind of price, we got a room with bathroom in this hotel is consider reasonable. Only thing is we did not even have a small kettle in our room to cater for hot drinks. Anyway we got ourselves a small kettle at a nearby shop. The room is considered quite spacious, but it only has a fan. It is okay during the cool and cold weather, but i cannot imagine how is it going to be in summer time. Another thing is for young people is okay, not advisable for people who has weak leg or old age people, as the hotel lobby is on the 2nd floor and after check in, one has to climb onto the 3rd floor where all rooms and restaurant are located. Owners are friendly, breakfast we did not try so no comments. Location is great, near to public transports and train station, and also there are many restaurants and shops nearby. Great place to shop and dine. Overall, is good for a short stay, giving the location.
A clean hotel. I paid extra and had my own bathroom. There were other family members in 2 other rooms. There was a fan in my room. I enjoyed the breakfast with my family. Great value and location in Florence.
The location is easy to catch, it takes only 10 minutes walking from the station. The room is tiny with fare amenities and fan only, lots mosquitoes and sharing bathroom with others. The wall is thin that we could hear our neighbour's noise.
Really well situated and easy to get to everything in Florence. Bedrooms are basic but clean and the staff's local knowledge is so helpful. Definitely a place to stay if you want to see all the sights but it isn't a romantic hotel t spend time languishing in your room, the walls are thin and the rooms are small!
The best part about this hotel is it's location. Easy to walk to all the places a tourist would like to see, and only a few minutes away from the railway station. The staff were friendly, the continental breakfast was simple but perfectly adequate, the bedroom and ensuite bathroom were basic but clean, in fact everything you would expect from a budget priced hotel. On the negative side, The breakfast room is dated and drab. There was a smell of drains in our room, and it overlooked the back yard of another building with several ventilation shafts. These were really noisy all night, making it difficult to sleep.
Even though the location of this hotel is great , the rooms are very cosy and the linens and towels smells. Hospitality is ok. The hanger came out of the wall at midnight. I could hear people watching TV all night making noise. I thought even if it's one star hotel it would be ok to stay just one night, but I was wrong. I will never book this hotel again.
