This hotel is perfectly located and within an easy walk of most things. We did not upgrade at this hotel and our room was shabby at best, with a view of pipes/drains from our window, a very noise bathroom fan, BUT the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower had loads of hot water, so it was all good. The breakfast room and patio was lovely and the breakfast itself was very nice.
Stayed in this hotel for a night and expected to be average but i was positively surprised, very nice service by the manager and the receptionist, the opposite of some reviews, room was a good surprise too, good working ac,comfy beds, good breakfast etc shower on the other hand was special since the blue color ment hot and red was cold which made it hard to understand at first, but it was new and we had a good laugh about it with the receptionist, other than that everything was very good, so thanks for having us.
On arrival to the hotel I was impressed by its character and historic feel. When we checked in we were shown to our room (room 111). It was a bit disappointing for a 4 star hotel. Two of the railings were loose on the bathroom wall. We only wanted to put on the tv for a few minutes that night while getting ready but that was a struggle with the remote held together by sellotape. The light from the hall outside came in through the vent/grille on the top of the bedroom door. The AC only came on intermittently and while this happens in other hotels it seemed to stay off a long time. Breakfast however was lovely with a good variety of food and it was lovely eating it out on the terrace. However when we arrived back in the afternoon to collect our bags, have a drink and freshen up before travelling home we were told that we could not sit in the "bar"area of sofas and chairs as this was not a station. We had no intention of staying a long length of time, just enough to have a drink after being out in the heat all day and freshen up. There were no other visitors there either. This has never been a problem in any of the hotels we stayed in over the years. I have never been greeted with such a response or made feel so unwelcome.
The good thing about the hotel is location across from train station. And next to a plaza/landmark makes it easy to locate when touring. The gelato place opposite corner of plaza is very good. The bad parts: we were in room 111. Poor ventilation at night. Small bathroom with very small shower. Bad beds. Very small breakfast room unless you want to be on terrace with the smokers. Not a lot of variety for breakfast foods.
Awesome location, near to railway station, walking distance to all major attractions, coffee, pizza, currency change, all at doorsteps, overall a great place to stay for solo travelers. Staff is extremely friendly and speak fluent English,
This hotel is a good choice if you do not want to tote luggage very far. The room was basic but very clean. The windows are not sound proof so there was some noise as the room overlooked the SMN piazza but it was not to loud. Enzo and staff were kind and helpful. Would stay here again but maybe upgrade.
I stayed here for two nights. The room was small but comfortable. I could here some street noise late at night, but once I put the earplugs in, all was silent. The staff was amazing. The breakfast is a typical European breakfast. The location was absolutely perfect. When I come back to Florence, I would stay here again, and will probably upgrade from the basic room.
we booked a different hotel, same management, but they didn't have rooms available, we got place in this hotel, and it was great! breakfast was excellent, rooms are spacious and updated. the staff always willing to help.
Of all the hotels we stay at during our recent trip to Italy, this was the least favorite. It was close to the train station which was a plus. However the room left much to desire. The view out the windows was a wall both out of the bedroom and bathroom. The hotel lost power twice during our stay for a bout 20 minutes each time. Shower was awkward with moveable plastic walls for sides and no place to put the soap or shampoo. It was an easy walk to all the sites in Florence with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.
We checked in and were greeted with a smile. The front desk even upgraded us to a better room. The location is walking distance from the main train station and in a central location to multiple attractions. I would definitely recommend this hotel !!
