The worst hotel we have ever been. Location good, but hotel is totaly old, damaged furnishing, unclean, only cold water ... Please read reviews before booking it. Big disappointment - absolutely no 3 stars!!!

This hotel is total disaster and only benefits from its location. The guy at front desk was very rude and didnt speak much english. He didnt tell us where is the breakfast and on all our questions he just said something italian that meant he doesnt understand and then he just refused to communicate with us. When I asked for a manager or someone who speaks english he said that no manager or anyone else is present and he cant help me. When I get in the room I was totally shocked how it looked like and how dirty it was. 1) There was mold in the bathroom which is big health hazard and room full of dust and dirty. Most of the things were broken in there. 2) The was still housekeeping lady in the room who talked to us italian so we didnt have a clue what she was talking about, and same problem is with other hotel staff, they barely speak english. 3) The safe in the room is not fixed in the wardrobe so anyone can take it 4)There is no hot water!!! 5)The Wi-Fi connection is not available so we had to surf via our mobile data because the network they provide is not accessible 6) Later in the afternoon I told all these problems to the other front desk lady and asked for a manager again she also said that there is no manager. So I said that I want a clean room.Later some lady knocked on our room and told us something in italian language which we didnt understand! So she took us to other room where wasnt an AC, so I refused to move there because without AC in 38C people cant sleep. That was all action they made no one was bothered to deal with our issue and the front desk lady didnt even say an appology or had any intension to come upstairs and inform us!! This absolutely doesnt equal to 3star hotel service. This is like a hostel. No one will care about you, unless you are italian. With italian guests they communicate. They said that this is absolutely normal and hotel is in perfect condition - see my pictures which I took there , absolutely disgusting. In the end I refused to pay my reservation and walked away and stayed in another hotel Mercure which is nearby.

Our friends reserved this for us. The online price could not be beat (85 euros for 2 rooms for one night). I wish I would have checked tripadvisor first. You get what you pay for! Positive: Great front desk service. Clean. Nice breakfast variety (pastries, eggs, cereal, fruit), free wifi Negative: window did not shut properly. The place is so dated. It is beaten up. The new laminate floors were badly installed with gaps everywhere. No hot water for the shower. It's a shame because with a make-over, this place has the potential to become a beautiful hotel.

We stayed 4 nights. The location was great: Within 5 to 10 minutes walk, there was outside market which sold the leather products and some souvenirs, the city market (it had a food court at 2nd fl), and you can see the Duomo just there from the market. There is a coin-operated laundry store near the hotel and it was helpful that there was an ATM machine at the entrance of the hotel. The room was facing to the street so it was a bit noisy. I think the room on the garden side must be quieter. We couldn't find an open table at the breakfast and not so much food were left (the breakfast started 7:30am but we were there after 8am) since the group of high school students in Europe were also staying at this hotel. You can have your own coffee and juice from the machine. There were ham, cheese, toast, sweet pastry, kiwi. Wifi was limited to the area near the elevator in 2nd floor or reception area. The people working the desk were very kind and helpful.

A hotel with 3 stars maybe in 1980, now is destroyed. The furniture is broken, the windows does not closed very good, the heating sistem does not function. We stayed 4 nights and permanent were checked group of students who made the rest imposibil.

Very good location - 10-15min away from everything. The hotel itself is not the best - it's a bit shabby but there are clean sheets and towels everyday. Breakfast quality could be better as well but you can compromise if you are on a budget

I loved this hotel! It's wonderful! Location (very short walk from Duomo, Uffizi, Galleria dell'Academia), rooms, staff, the view from room... I loved it. The breakfast on the terrace, with doves and cats on the roof. the view from our room was spectacular: the Duomo in the background! Loved it, loved it, loved it!

This is a relatively small hotel located at about five-minute walk from the tourist district and at about ten-minute walk from the Florence Conference Center. The entrance to the hotel is on a quiet side street, the hotel lobby is open 24 hours and is staffed with nice and helpful attendants. Very good and hearty breakfast kept me going for more than half a day. I stayed there for a week. During the first three days of my stay, the hotel was full because of a school trip from Japan. Yet, despite many young people devouring breakfast, there was still plenty for me to year. Actually, the breakfast and occasionally slow Internet were the only evidence that those students were in the hotel. Otherwise, it was still quiet. Rooms, the breakfast area, and the lobby are clean but the stairway was only average. Occasionally when too many young people were connected to the Internet I had to use it in the lobby. However, on the remaining days, it was never a problem. I will definitely stay there again when visiting the town again.

This trip was a present for a friend and I can't tell you how disgusted I am. Although the hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the train station and central to everything, the street outside is filthy and there are several a trash bins right by the entrance door. Our room on the first floor was little bigger than a broom cupboard, no window to speak of and the shower was hardly big enough to stand in. There was no hot.water when we arrived and this situation cocntinues for an in there 24 hours. It was 4 degrees outside and showering was a real challenge. The room was clean and clean sheets and towels were provided each day. The breafast buffet was adequate but the first morning the fresh fruit consisted of a shrivelled apple and two rotten kiwi fruit. Coffee was from a machine as was the fruit juice. The whole place needs completely refurbishing although I am sure the Italian guests got much better rooms and service. Don't ever go there.

Hotel Basilea was by far the worst hotel we've ever stayed. We did not have heating on the first night of our staying (in December) and the only window of the room couldn't be entirely closed. The breakfast was poor and on the second morning they gave us expired ham (it smelled and tasted bad). On the third evening, the entire hotel had a blackout that lasted two and a half hours and when we asked the receptionist about it, the concierge was disrespectful to us and yelled at us. I don't know what else to say, our experience in this hotel was so bad that I needed to write a review about it. The only good thing about hotel Basilea was the location and the spectacularly beautiful city of Florence, but for visiting the city I strongly recommend you another hotel.
