The close proximity of the hotel from Firenze SM Novella train station is ACE! As you walk out from the train platform, exit on the right and you will see the tramline, cross the tram line, walk about 20-30m, your hotel is right there! So near and that's really convenient especially on a cold, wet December day! The hotel is also very near the Bus Station, Sita Autostazione Firenze, at Via Santa Caterina da Siena 15-17 (2 mins walk). We took a bus to Siena from here. There's also the bus to The Mall Shopping Outlet leaving from this station too. There's a Carrefour Express very near the bus station too. There is a great restaurant called Trattoria Dall'Oste a few doors from the hotel. The front desk will give you a 10% discount card. Go try the food, the food and the service is impeccable! We booked a room for 3 and the size is ok. The bathroom is clean and modern (refer photos). Our room comes with free breakfast. The spread is almost the same every morning but adequate. The shower gel/shampoo comes in 10ml sachets (refer photo) which is hardly enough especially if you have long hair and 'huge body" and you have to use 2-3 packets :( each time you shower. Would be nice to have more hooks to hang clothes and towels in the bathroom. The Wi-fi signal is weak on our Level 3 room (not sure about other rooms) Front desk is friendly. No issue with the staff. A pleasant stay, overall. Will stay in this hotel when we go back again :)

We chose this hotel for a one night stay because it was close to the train station, it had free wifi and it seemed nice from the website. They reception staff was friendly and let us check in early. From what I could tell, the hotel was quiet, seemed clean and well kept however I knocked off a few stars because of the following issues: We were put on the ground floor (I think it was Rm #101) and when we walked in there was an overwhelming odd smell. I'm not sure what it was but if I had to describe it, it would be air freshener covering up mildew smell. If you are looking to relax with the TV, there were no English channels. We were only there one night so we were willing to over look the smell and no English channels because we weren't there to watch TV. The bed was terribly lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom is updated with a roomy shower but there was a learning curve to working the "modern" shower. There was also bug repellent stashed away in one of the nightstands. Breakfast was nothing to write home about and it would have been nice for the server to ask us if we wanted coffee. Instead, we had to chase him down and ask for coffee. I was willing to over look all of that but I was not willing to look past the no wifi. For some reason, our specific room did not get wifi. (Odd, considering I was able to get the neighboring hotels wifi if I had the password). We complained to the front desk because we wanted to skype to our families and check emails. They didn't offer us another room or remedy the situation. Instead they said we could use their lobby or the hallway for wifi. This wasn't an ideal solution because their lobby isn't the most comfortable and I didn't want to disturb the other guests by skype-ing in the hallway. In conclusion, if it's a short stay, and you don't plan on actually being in the hotel long, it's just ok. If you are going to stay longer, don't stay on the ground floor. The top floors seem nicer....and probably get wifi.

If you are transiting by train and have large luggage, this is the hotel for you. Once in the building, you have to take a few steps to reach the reception. The staff is great, will show you outright the city map and the important sites to visit. The room is clean. There is a lift that can carry 2 persons and 2 large luggages. The breakfast and the breakfast area is good.

If you are arriving in Florence by train, the location of Hotel Aurora is perfect as you do not need to walk far. The elevator of the hotel is quite spacious compared with other small hotels. Breakfast was tasty enough (there were cheeses, ham, different breads and jams, as well as cheese omelette, which is a treat as it was newly cooked). Coffee was freshly brewed. The room was quite spacious. There was a safe but the key need to be borrowed from reception and was not the digital type so we decided not to use it anymore. There was a highly-rated restaurant a few meters from the hotel and the hotel gave a card with a 10% discount there but we were not able to try it was it was always full at night. Maybe we can try it the next time we are there. Overall, this hotel was a good choice for us.

I come to Florence twice a year from Japan and always stay at Aurora. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great location. Spacious room. Keeps improving. I feel very at home here. Quiet at night. Coffee and croissant are tasty. I will come back in winter.

This hotel was one of the best ones I've been to so far. I've been to around 5 hotels on my trip and this one has been one of my favourites. The staff there are so friendly, and will help you with anything, the train station is so close, and the hotel has a beautiful garden. Although the rooms aren't that big, for the price I payed it was excellent. They take a 20 Euro deposit for the safe but once you return the key, they give it back to you. I loved staying at this hotel and will definitely go again.

This quaint hotel is nestled not far from stunning historic buildings in the heart of Florence. Across from the train station and regular bus services. It is a quaint hotel with spacious rooms and modern clean bathrooms. Breakfast is good although basic. The wifi connection can be slow as well. The staff are attentive and helpful especially Raffaele who has excellent interpersonal skills. Thank you Raffaele for your assistance and friendship. You are an asset to this hotel. We enjoyed our stay here and have fond memories to cherish.

The room was big but with no facility, small bathroom and our room had no view, it had a view to the pipe duct. It was not like the pictures in the website at all. All the facilities mentioned like iron, safe and ... was on demand and they got 20 euros of deposit for each which was annoying. The breakfast was good but the service was poor.

Stayed here for one night in July. Our room was very quiet despite the hotel being along a busy street across from the train station. Breakfast was very good. They held our bags after checkout. Front desk staff were welcoming and spoke great English. Would consider returning here if I were to return to Florence and wanted easy access to the train station.

I have now stayed in four different hotels along this road across from the train station; Aurora is not the fanciest of them, but it's probably my marginal favorite for a few reasons. They all have location as a plus, so that's a given for all of them. Here are the best things that make Aurora the winner among those hotels- small and cozy, with a friendly and helpful desk staff. Breakfast buffet is pretty good! It lacks the variety of some others nearby, but the basics are tasty enough for me. It also has a nice little walled courtyard in back that is absolutely delightful- I wound up enjoying being out there in the morning for breakfast more than I thought I would! I was there with 2 family members, and the room was quite spacious and comfortable; air conditioning could have been a little more efficient, but given the outside temperature and humidity, it was acceptable in the room. Bathroom was nice, spacious, two showerheads for "rain" or power-showering and water pressure was good. Here are the things that move it down from a higher rating- none of them made the stay utterly unpleasant, but forewarned is forearmed: it's a couple of floors in a multi-story building, and the elevator is a small, slow add-on. If you get a higher floor, be mindful of this (the staircase is beautiful, but not when you've just finished walking around Firenze all day). The walls are pretty thin; we had a boisterous family across from us and could hear them making noise in their room at night with the doors closed! Also, my daughter who slept in the spare bed by the window (which faced the street) reported that the sound of trains kept her awake for a good bit of the night. Toiletries in bathroom are pretty basic, and trying to get a few spare towels from the front desk was apparently deemed a security risk; it took a little fighting and negotiating to get some (note to hotel: they're not worth stealing, and we wouldn't even if they were on principle). I wouldn't mind staying at Aurora again if the rates were good enough to warrant it. It is comfortable enough and reasonably pleasant. There's a lot of competition in that part of the city, however, so I'd definitely research everything to ensure I was getting a good deal before I booked it (be mindful of their cancellation policy, which has a longer lock-in period than major chains tend to have. On the other hand, you don't have a lot of major chains in Firenze with good prices AND this kind of convenient location).
