Stayed two nights middle of September. The room was spotless with a great view of the lake. Radfords is centrally located a five minute walk & you will be in the local town centre. Kerri is extremely friendly warm & caring & takes the time to explain the local area & places to eat, nothing is too much trouble including when she helped recover our passports we left behind, she quickly put our minds at rest & was very reassuring. I would definitely recommend the Radfords you will not be disappointed.
We stayed at Radfords for 2 nights in September 2017. Our room was very spacious with a view of the lake - living room area with TV, dining area, kitchenette, bathroom, bedroom with king bed and TV. The room was spotless and bed very comfortable. Kerri took very good care of us and also booked us with a top notch tour, Trips and Tramps, to see Milford Sound. Her recommendations for restaurants - The Sandfly, Distinction Hotel, and Redcliff - were excellent. Kerri will take good care of you, so make your booking now!
We were arriving late to Radfords (check out closes at 8pm). Called in to advise, and the receptionist was extremely extremely reassuring. We managed to make it in time (arriving at 8:01 ha!) and was greeted by a warm, friendly face. The receptionist (sorry, I forgot her name as we were in and out so quickly!) was awesome, advised where we shld be going for dinner and made last minute dinner reservations for us, left the heater and lights on in the room for us so we would return to a warm, cozy apartment. All in all, absolute great experience. Radfords is right infront of the lake but we didn't get the fortune to enjoy the view as we departed extremely early as well. Only tiny gripe we had was that there was only one bathroom to be shared amongst 5 people, which was a big squeeze for time considering we arrived and left pretty early. But no matter, we made it to Milford Sound with plenty of time to spare! :)
Kerri was incredible from check-in to check-out. Kerri took the time to give me recommendations of things to do, places to go etc and I was not disappointed with any of the recommendations. I was able to pack a fair bit into my ~ 2 days, just wishing I could have stayed longer. The accommodation itself was everything I could have wanted. It was clean and comfortable, with lovely views over the lakefront. It is also well situated - a short walk into town. I hope to go back to Te Anau one day, and will definitely be booking with Radfords on the Lake (and recommending it to family and friends)!
We had the pleasure of staying at Radfords on the Lake in Te Anau and are quite sad to leave this magic place, we enjoyed it so much. The care and attention taken to ensure their guests comfort is obvious and very much appreciated. We highly recommend this beautiful property and all it has to offer, you won't be disappointed. We are leaving feeling relaxed, well rested and spoiled, will be back. Michelle and Kim - Body Audit NZ
I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Radfords on the Lake. The rooms are perfectly appointed with great views. You will find everything you need at Radfords, and maybe even some things you didn't know you would need. If you need a doctor, the owners know where to send you. If you need an quick unexpected bite to eat before leaving on an excursion that you didn't plan to be going on, the owners will have a solution. If they don't know the answer to any question you have, they will find out! For any obstacle that could arise, they can come up with a solution or alternate plan for you, and will not rest until they make sure you're happy. The bedding is superb, the rooms are clean, and bathrooms have plenty of hot water. This lodging establishment would be suitable for business, families, friends, couples or solo's. The owners live nearby and have connections with everyone in the community from the pharmacy, to the cinema, to the restaurants, to the best tourist guides! This is the place in Te Anau to stay!
We stayed at Radfords with our wee girl and found the facilities top class, it was no issue to get a cot put in the room and all the bedding was provided without an extra charge. Rooms are very clean and tidy and so comfortable. The beds are some of the most comfortable i have ever slept it. It was a nice touch to have the lavender bag on the bedside table to use. It was also nice to come back to a warm unit. Great heating for a winters day. easy access car parking and alot of suggestions for things to do in the area and in milford sound. We booked a cruise via reception and it was fantastic. we got a discount and did not have to wait in line when we got to milford and it was the best. We were worried about having a crying baby, but we did not hear any of the other guests, and apparently they did not hear us. Fantastic lake views from ALL of the rooms. Nothing was a problem. Friendly staff. We will be back.
bog standard modern motel. parking in the yard, limited reception opening opening times, rooms with big floor to ceiling windows facing the parking lot. third bed was an utterly uncomfortable sofa bed with a wafer thin blanket - extra blanket had to be asked for. no breakfast. kitchen had a single small pot, impossible to cook anything. passive-aggressive signs saying not to cook curry in the room. cherry on the cake: as a welcome, the receptionist pushed a hard sell of milford sound group tour, trying to scare me into booking via them with unfounded arguments (road is dangerous and chains needed, chains are very difficult to put on. turns out chains are needed on special days only and those are announced on the traffic nz website. the gas station would've rented out the chains and helped to put them on). fail to see how this could possibly have 5 stars. not really worth what they charge. this place's position as #1 in te anau is probably due to other hotels having not enough reviews. the road by the lake seemed to be full of other, equally motel-y places, and there was a proper hotel with a restaurant a few blocks away.
WE had the most amazing week in Te Anau, a fantastic conference and a wonderful room to come back to and enjoy. Views that are peaceful right over the lake. Our room was warm and well appointed. We were made to feel welcome by Kerri and offered great ideas of places to eat. Thanks for a great week and all your help.
Spent a wonderful few days in the area and Radford's was the perfect base Spacious 2 bed apartment, spotlessly clean and well equipped Right on the lake road and easy walking distance to the centre of town Bus to doubtful sound picked and dropped us right outside Lovely and helpful hosts Great value
