Spent 14 days here and loved it. Had a private room with a bath (ensuite) and a very large balcony over looking the beach. We witnessed the most beautiful sunsets daily with air conditioning and fan. It came with a refrigerator and king size bed. Free breakfast to get you started and the public bus even stoped at the front door. Extremely clean and the staff was great. There were several entertaining shows during the week like fire dancing by the pool during dinner and hula dancers. I liked it better than Hawaii as it was much cheaper and far less crowded. They even had an incredible laundry service where they would do a LARGE bag of clothes for $5 US./$10 Fijin. US currency goes twice as far here. We came here to be in paradise on secluded beaches and do lots of Boating and swimming. You can't please everyone all the time but they hit a home run with us. It might be a little pricey for Back packers but you get what you pay for, On the other hand if you want to spend a lot of money at one of the other big resorts they'll be more than happy to take your money. We came here to escape places like Disney and avoid crowds. And we certainly did not come here to sit and waste all our time with WIFI. There was also an activity director to help suggest and schedule tours, and excursions if you so desired. This is a good place to rekindle a little romance in your life. I highly reccomend this place for couples. All the water sports and Horse back riding are available at their beach. We'll be back again sometime in the future. It's also very close to the airport.
OK, first the positives. The overwhelming majority of the staff are absolutely wonderful, giving you as friendly a welcome as you would get anywhere. The exception to this was the surly manageress / supervisor, but more on that in a bit. The hotel itself is nice enough, the rooms are fairly nice with most things that you would need. The food in the restaurant, including breakfast, was tasty and arrived fairly quickly. The waitresses and bar staff were lovely. There are nice views of the ocean from the restaurant and pool areas and the atmosphere in the public areas of the hotel is relaxed and welcoming. Now the negatives. Having said that the majority of the staff were simply delightful, the same can most definitely not be said about the manageress, the lady who sits in the little office next to reception. This lady needs a new job because she clearly does not enjoy this one and her surliness is in sharp contrast to everybody else working at the hotel. On our first morning in the hotel (the morning of my birthday), I stood up next to the bed and started to change my shirt. WIthout raising my arm to a height that would be unusual in any other hotel room I have ever stayed in (I am 6'1" not 8'), I felt an impact, noticed a lot of blood on the floor and a deep cut in one of my fingers, from catching my fingers in the end of the rusty fan that was far too large and too low for the size of the room. I spent the next two hours in the local medical centre having three stitches in my finger and a tetanus injection. On our return to the hotel I talked to the young lady on reception, explaining what had happened, warning her that the fan wasn't safe and that although we would have been within our rights to have presented the medical bill (FJ$330) to the hotel we were not going to do that. The receptionist, although appearing sympathetic, clearly didn't have the authority to do anything, and the manageress did not react at all. We left that situation there and enjoyed the rest of the day. The following day we wanted to extend our stay, mainly due to the fact that driving would have been difficult for me, but there were no standard rooms left so this would have meant moving to one of the more expensive ocean view rooms. The manageress, despite the fact that we could have taken action against this hotel for an injury caused by their unsafe fan, made us expend a lot of time and energy arguing with them, before eventually offering a slight discount on the ocean view room just as we were about to leave the hotel. Not only did her behavior show appalling customer service but it is cowardly to leave more junior staff to deal with complaints from customers, especially when she was ten feet away and could hear every word. The ocean view room we were moved to (room 5) was otherwise pleasant and clean, except for the bedbugs that kept my partner awake for half the night. In the morning, we showed three of the bedbugs my partner had caught to the young lady on reception who just laughed and put them straight in the bin. At no stage did we ever get a word of apology from the management of this hotel for anything that happened during our stay here. This hotel is pleasant (if not spectacular) in so many ways but there is a real feeling that the management do not care about genuine complaints from their guest and take them seriously. That is a real shame.
Hubby and I stayed here for one night before heading to another island. The people working here are great. The room is clean and does have AC. Breakfast is okay. The beach is a bit rocky. Again we didn't spend a whole of time here. It served its purpose of providing a decent place before taking a flight on turtle airways (which is down the road) the next day. I would stay here another night if we had to, but don't see myself doing it for multiple nights. Nothing really bad to say about it. Great for those who are wanting a more economic option in Fiji.
This place was perfect for us upon arrival to nadi, we took a 15 minute taxi costing $15 to Aquarius. The hotel staff were so friendly and welcoming we couldn't have felt more at home. Our room was really comfortable with air con and a fridge. Hotel was quiet and the pool beach area were just lovely. Please be aware that the beach here isn't what you see in visit Fiji brochures, if you want that you need to go to the islands, but the beach is lovely, warm ocean and long stretch of sand perfect for a sunset walk. The food here is delicious!!! And so so reasonable, drinks too. I would recommend to anyone needing somewhere close to the airport in Fiji. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable!
I really don't like to leave bad reviews, but when something is dangerous (or when bedbugs are involved) I think it's important other travelers are warned. First let me say that the staff (aside from the management) were lovely - we really liked the wait-staff and the receptionists. The food was great too. Our problems started when my partner hit his hand on the ceiling fan in our Standard Double room. He's 6'1", so he's tall, but not unusually so. The ceiling fan was very low, and it had thin, rusty blades, and he hit his fingers while putting a shirt on. We rushed to a doctor who said he was very lucky to still have his fingers, and gave him stitches. They gave us a receipt and said to warn the hotel, and to ask them to pay for the bill. We didn't do that, even though the doctor's bill was more than the cost of our 2 nights at the hotel. We just politely warned them about their fan. The next day we decided we wanted to extend our stay by one night, but all of their standard doubles were taken. We asked if we could pay the same price for a slightly upgraded double considering what happened to my partner (on the morning of his Birthday, no less!) and they said they couldn't, the best they could do was 15% off their deluxe room. We went up to our room to pack because there are cheaper options on Booking.com and the management at Aquarius was awful - the woman didn't say anything to us. The manager then came up to our room to tell us (jn a rude and reluctant manner) that we could have an ocean view double for the same price we were paying, which seemed like a fair compromise to us. We moved into room 5, and we thought it was a nice room. However, that night I was kept awake from around 2am onward because of bedbugs. I brought the bedbugs that I had killed down to the receptionist in the morning and she just laughed, so watch out for room 5!
Great little 3 star accomodation. Family style and the staff are so so friendly and welcoming. My husband, 9 month old and I stayed here twice on extended transit to L.A. there and back and were very happy. They were very accomodating and endeavored to check us in as early as they could manage as our flights came in super early. The rooms were clean and comfortable and perfect for an overnight stay. The second room we stayed in on our return trip was a bit older than the first we stayed in and the hot water was abit touch and go in this particular room but on the plus side they let us check in 7 hours early and the room was very big with couch area, so definitely no complaints! The beach in front of the accomadation was the cleanest part of the beach and nicely maintained. The pool was also clean and maintained and baby enjoyed the dip to cool down. Food was nice and reasonably priced. We ate pretty much all our meals here. Would definitely stop here again on transit if only for the lovely staff.
Its quite a little distance from the main road (5 mins) but has a nice beachfront so its worth the drive in! Staff are very very helpful and the accommodation is nice and clean :-) We were over for 2 nights and had a room overlooking the pool which was pretty nice. The rooms are not too spacious but if you're looking for fresh air, you can open up your sliding door to the balcony for the nice breeze to come in (considering your in Nadi and the weather is sunny). Food is cheap and tasty but you can always drive into Martintar (5 mins away) for cheaper food. It was also very easy to get through to the resort when we tried to booking which also helped us with confirming our accommodation for that weekend.
Aquarius on the Beach is a mix between a hotel and upmarket backpackers. It is exceptionally clean, spacious and professionally managed. I visit Fiji whilst transiting between Vanuatu and New Zealand quite often and this was the first, and certainly not the last, time I stayed at Aquarius on the Beach instead of the neighbouring Bamboo Backpackers where I usually stay. The rooms are clean, have good beds, are spacious and comfortable. My room, an ocean view king, had a private bathroom however I did look at the shared bathrooms and they too were exceptionally clean and modern. The few dollars extra you'd pay to stay at Aquarius on the Beach is certainly well worth it.
The Aquarius is a great place to stay in the Nadi area. It is close to the airport and right on the beach. I booked their airport transfer service, which was well organized, the driver was waiting for me when I arrived. Staff was wonderful, helpful, efficient and very friendly, I cannot thank them enough for the great time I had. The room was spacious and clean, there's a good restaurant and a bar. The grounds were small but well kept, the beach was a bit of a disappointment, a lot of debris and grayish sea, but it may have been due to the weather, as I visited in a very rainy week. There's a great selection of activities bookable through reception and a convenience store is on site. Supermarkets, local bus stop are also nearby, and tour operators all offer complimentary pickups from the hotel when you book with them. A good choice to stay at before or after visiting outer islands or one may use it as a base and do various day trips and/or discover Viti Levu. I would not hesitate to return.
The front desk man was wonderful, kind and professional. The place was very nice, clean and breakfast was very good. The hotel is on the ocean with a clean pool, lounge area under bamboo umbrellas, 24 hour front desk services. My cell phone was not working and they let me use the front lobby hotel phone a couple of times as a courtesy. I could not have asked for a better place to stay while in Fiji.
