The hotel was our base of operations for exploring the nearby area, to include Eureka, Ferndale, and parts of the Redwood forest. It was conveniently located off the highway and surrounded by stores and restaurants. The staff seemed especially welcoming and the facility was very good. Breakfast was great.

We recently stayed three nights at the Howard Johnsons in Arcata, CA. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. The breakfast was good, and the young man who served it, Steven, always had a ready smile. The housekeeping staff was very helpful, too. It was an enjoyable experience.

Couldn't sleep on the super hard beds and noise in the hallways until after 1:30 am. We checked out and forfeited our last nights stay.

Enjoyed the hotel for the most part. The room was large and the bed big and comfy. The only issue we had was the swimming pool and hot tub were down, before we checked in, and they gave us no warning or make up for that fact despite the fact that we specifically chose the hotel for its indoor pool and spa that we could not use. Overall a great hotel and well worth the money.

This hotel is in a great location close to everything. The hotel staff were wonderful as we stayed for 11 days sometimes with our granddaughter. The pool was great although the hot tub was used as a baby pool occasionally and that kept us just to the pool. The hot breakfast was good although they could use a bigger room. We would consider staying again.

We were amazed at how nice our stay was. The staff was very friendly and the hotel clean. It was quiet and the breakfast was perfect. We will stay at this hotel from now on.

Nice hotel close to the highway but not right next to it. Several fast food options nearby after a long time on the road. Very comfortable and I wouldn't hesitate staying there again.

It was adequate and was clean. Good parking, friendly staff and easy to find.

This is my second time staying at this HoJo's. The rooms are clean, and the beds are pillowtop and super comfortable. There is free wifi, free parking, free breakfast, and they have a free gym, spa, and pool. The location is easily accessible to Arcata and Eureka for food and drinks, and to Redwood National Park for outdoors adventures. For $60 a night, what more could you ask for?

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was a great value.

Everyone was very. Helpful. Our plane was late and we arrived very late. Person at desk was great in helping us find a close by place for dinner! Parking very convenient and walking distance to restaurants outstanding.

I didn't spend much time here as I was on a road trip and literally just had enough time to get 8 hours sleep and hit the road again, but the room was clean, comfortable, quiet and affordable. I would stay here again.

When I walked in, I was the only guest standing at the desk but the young clerk didn't acknowledge me due to him being on the phone. The manager came in and instead of helping me, she helped the worker with the phone order. I stood there for fifteen minutes waiting while listening to them complete a reservation. Also, our reservation was for three people but when we arrived, I wanted to change it to two people and they said it was too late. There was also a large tax of $15 a night, which was not listed at the check out.

The breakfast needs help, there are no restaurants nearby for breakfast. It should be a full breakfast with eggs, sausage or bacon ect, and there is nothing like that available, also no creamer for the coffee or even a selection of fruit.

I Looked at a lot of hotel reviews before booking this one online . Amanda greeted us at checked in with a great smile and answer all of our questions . The Room was nice and clean . My only complaint was the room was a bit musty smelling . We just opened up the window and aired the room out .The breakfast was good . Waffles, bagels, cold and hot cereal and fresh fruit .

For a Howard Johnson we really expected better than what It was. Especially since the price wasn't as low as places we stayed that were cheaper but much nicer. So, just an okay rating.

Everything was perfect. Friendly staff in a quiet location.

This was a pleasant place to stay. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Room size was excellent. .. King bed, sofa, microwave, 'fridge . . The furniture is a little dated and cheap looking, but functional. I checked the room on arrival and it seemed quite clean. Breakfast looked good (but we decided to eat in town).

The room was very clean and comfortable, although a little stuffy when the window was closed. The free breakfast was delicious: Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc. The pool and spa were clean and well cared for. Staff were very helpful and always had a smile.

This hotel fit the bill very well for an overnight stop on a road trip. A big plus was discovering a fridge with a small freezer in the room! We were traveling with some things we wanted to remain frozen and expected to have to restock our cooler with ice. But we were able to keep our food & blue ice blocks frozen! Very spacious room, and adequate breakfast offerings.
