Good looking hotel. Very clean and comfortable but I got a very small room. Good size bathroom but the room was small and I got a single bed. Breakfast offers a larger variety than normal breakfast buffet including champagne.
Stayed in this hotel as a base for Dusseldorf trade fair, location was great for me as Hbf is just across the street, Essen pedestrian commercial area is also just near by. The property is a beautiful old building which seems to be very well maintained, though it's design is not modern it seems the hotel had been refurbished only few years ago. Room was comfortable and very very clean, Wifi was OK. Breakfast was also very satisfying and dining room staff is very attentive. Minuses for the hotel were hotel bar which was quite empty as I was looking for other options in the evening and washroom appearance which is more of a 3 stars hotel.
The hotel is very well located near one of the main commercial streets of de town. It is provided by all the services you can need, though my trip was for holidays. Staff is very kind and helpful. The nice small bar is good for relaxing and talk.. We did not use the restaurant which is nice too.
Nice hotel in great location in the heart of the shopping district of Essen. Spend 1 night here for business and was a bit surpised to find the hotel didnt provide any of the following: fridge/mini bar, any drinks on the room (not even bottled water), slippers (I dont like to walk barefoot in hotel rooms), toothbrush and shavers (lucky I brought all that, but usually I rely that hotels provide such ammenities), soap in the shower cabin (there is a soap dispenser at the bathroom sink, but not within the shower cabin). Had it features all the abovem I would have given a "very good" since Wifi was free and the breakfast buffet was nice. Will probably try another location for my next trip to Essen.
The Essener Hof is a family run hotel and it's obvious from the moment you walk into reception. The welcome is warm, friendly and professional. We have visited at Christmas for several years and many of the staff have been there since our first visit. We are treated as old friends despite only visiting once a year. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, with ample toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast choice is extensive and delicious. The location is central and convenient for shopping, transport links and the Weihnactsmarkt starts right beside the hotel
I was there from 28 October to 31 October It has been a grand hotel at one time in the past. the bar was closed all weekend. The restaurant was closed all weekend despite an impressive menu in the lobby. The location was excellent, near the station, and a the top of the pedestrianised main road. Everything was immaculately clean but probably because the cleaners start banging around at 0630 in the morning. Towels were mean - one small hand towel and a medium towel - no bath towel. Staff polite and breakfast excellent. Wouldn't stay here again, I'd go back to Motel One where I stayed last year.
I stayed there ten days in a row in a business trip. The service is impressively good. Very responsive, pro active, organized, sensitive! Just positive things to say! The top experience was when they started calling me by my name/surname, then the bar man already new I preferred Sauvignon blank grape the most. As I was not often up for a drink I did not expect him to remember but he did. Finally one night I was super tired and decided to eat at the hotel restaurant... Wow! Soooooo delicious!!! But the creme brûlée is no way the best in town... It can be further improved! Also the pillows and the mattress...;) Shower is excellent!! Would definitely recommend!
This hotel is a decent business hotel in Essen, conveniently located near the Hauptbahnhof if you are travelling by train (but away far enough so no annoying train noise) . It is also near the pedestrian area of Essen My single room was definitely a bit older and darker than the rooms shown on the website. Breakfast and WiFi were OK I booked the room via Amoma and it worked well , The price including breakfast was 76GBP. So when looking at this hotel at the last minute , make sure you check rates on Trivago and Amoma
Classic hotel in the middle of city center of Essen. Next to train station. I'm not sure if there is a possibility to park your car. The hotel is old fashion and basic. The rooms are also basic but enough space and bed is ok. The quality is good for this price. Enough choice for breakfast, quality is good.
This hotel has an excellent location if you arrive Essen by train, only small five minutes away. The hotel is a bit "old fashion" the room is big and dark. If you have a room to the main street there can be some traffic noise. However the room are clean, and if you choose to take breakfast at the hotel you get served a good German breakfast.
