Good Hotel with Very Good Location in Essen City !!! Located well around just 50 meters nearby Metro Station. Just 7-10 minutes by Metro from City Centre and Central Railway Station in Essen. The room was clean and the bed was enough comfortable. Very Friendly and Very Helpful people working there. There are many shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs around the Hotel. I have been staying in this Hotel just for 1 night in the end of December 2018 before Christmas during my business trip to Essen city with a Great Pleasure. Could be recommended for all types of Travellers looking not very expensive Hotel, not far from the Centre of Essen City.
I Essen is relatively small industrial town and since i came for two intensive meeting i did not have enough time to explore the area as i always like. the hotel was one of the hotel that was recommended by the meeting committee. it is 3 star hotel with very small room and not very comfortable. the room was clean and the room service was decent but all in all this is not the level of hotel i used to get in my trips and i am very simple and modest turist. the elevator did not work well it is old and slow. the room was noisy and i could not sleep well at night.
The location of the hotel is excellent, good walking distance the the messe, good restaurants near by and bakeries for breakfast. I was once told location is everything, if only that was true. I have stayed in worse places, hostels and overseas army barracks. But for actual hotels, this is there at the bottom of the list. Tiny rooms, tiny bathroom, thin dirty towels, everything needed a good clean. Somebody wrote it's like sleeping in a corridor. Frankly there is more room in the corridors. And i was lucky enough to be in the recently renovated rooms on the first floor. My colleagues on the 4th floor enjoyed the luxury of each other's waste water seeping in to the neighbouring room. Yeah, won't be going here again!
The hotel is not provided with AC! The breakfast and location( on the boulevard) was very nice, reception good. The parking you have to take care because you can not pay for one day, maximum is 2 hours.
This hotel is located within walking distance of the messe, and one gets the impression that they know they have a captive audience so don't need to do too much to get business. The hotel is very basic and run down. The reception staff are by and large apathetic (although there was one one very friendly and smiling lady as I was checking out :-)), and all in all it's not very welcoming. I would also be concerned about safety. The rooms (or at least the one I was in) have polystyrene ceiling tiles. I could hate to think what would happen if there was a fire... That said, if you just need a place to stay that is warm and reasonably clean, and IF you can get a reasonable price (less than €100), then this hotel is fine. It is within walking distance of the messe, is surrounded by so many excellent bars, and restaurants, and right beside the underground. It also has proper double beds, a rarity in German hotels.
We were visiting friends there and booked a queen size room. The rooms are very dated and i can only describe our room as sleeping in a corridor. Very dark odd pannelling on walls and lights that remind me of a very old english pub. Our room was on the front which was extremely noisy all night with only single pane glass and it was also very light. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Who books a double bed and one person has to sleep against a wall? The room all over was filthy and needed a full refurb. Horrible stains on the carpet, even carpet was on the shelves?? The shower needed a good scrub. Actual toilet and sink very clean. The key access was hard to understand and we had to fetch the receptionist to come show us. Our friends had stayed week before and also had problems. There was a sewerage smell in corridor and stairwell. If you are of a larger build I would not recommend the bathroom. The shower door was extremely tiny and could barely fit through. One plus though was the temperature and power were really good. On the desk were randomly two small packets of Haribo sweets. Bottle of water that you had to pay 4 euros for if drank. There are no coffee making facilities which for the money charged why are there none? Even the basic of hotels in the UK provide tea and coffee facilities. We didn't used the television. The room in the morning smelt of cigarette smoke, do they still have smoking rooms? As some times it was a much stronger smell than other times A referb was meant to be happening? And has been for years from what reviews on here say. There was Only One lift working. Not disabled friendly at the moment as the entrance hall lift not working so had to go up 4 steps to another level for lift. Reception desk was up 4 flights of stairs. Lift entrance was very small, could not of fit wheelchair or pushchair in. If you just literally want to sleep then would be ok but not comfortable or welcoming enough to spend anytime in the room. We didn't sample breakfast as plenty of places around that were cheaper. We will say excellent location as right by the tube station and also surrounded by shops and restaurants. They need to though either reduce their rate or get on with a refurbishment. Receptionists were very welcoming and spoke excellent English which was helpful as our German was Only very basic
The hotel is located in between Essen city center and close to the exhibition area (Messe Essen) at a lively road with plenty of restaurants and shops. There is a subway station in front of the hotel. The hotel has quite some tradition, what also means it’s a bit old. Partially it has been refurbished though. In particular the breakfast room is nice and so is the breakfast buffet! The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the rooms are tidy and clean. The windows isolate very well against the noise from the main road not far away. It’s a good choice for a business stay, and when lucky one can get a pretty good price.
If you are travelling to Essen and you want a very basic room only hotel.. then this hotel is that. Non smokers be care as the rooms smell of cigarette. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, pharmacy, grocery and underground trams.
Centrally located along a road with shops and plenty of bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. Parking places behind the hotel. Double room for me alone was € 62,50 including a decent breakfast. Room was small but ok, bathroom with shower. Don't expect a 3 star hotel, but for this price at this convenient location, it does the job. I can recommend for one/two nights.
