I came here on a business trip with colleagues. It’s not easy to find from the train station if you don’t know - through the passage then down the stairs and round the corner. The check in staff are friendly - stairs right next to the lift make it easy to get up and down quickly. The room was quiet and comfortable although the bed was small. The appearance is dated, much like the general Duisburg area. The bar staff on both nights I was there had a ‘I really don’t want to be here’ attitude, I was waiting ages for service - this was a shame. The breakfast was good enough. Excellent value for money.
Location is excellent. Downsides. Do not have disabled parking. Have to park in a multi storey. A bit pricey. Would have expected a free space for disabled person Could do with a proper hotel luggage trolley. All they had was a small trolley which meant we had to make 3 trips. Also no real help available to help with the luggae Disabled room adequate though a bit tight for a wheel chair. Food was reasonable in the restaurant, however the serving staff were not well trained. Not to criticise but I could find at least 5 basic service points which were failed Also found the breakfast to be very expensive. Next we will consider going to an outside food outlet. Hotel is clean and convenient, though felt that the nightly rate was on the high side especially in relation to the service we received. we stay there again , yes because it is convenient but will negotiate a price or use an internet company, which the hotel will have to pay a fee to.
We stayed at the Mercure hotel because of the Spiel convention in Essen (Essen was fully booked so we went with Duisburg which was cheaper and had rooms available). We were on the 4th floor in a standard room with a queen sized bed. The nights were quiet. The room was a great size. We had breakfast which was very simple but nonetheless very good. The carpark is only 9 euro a day which I found very cheap. One comment though... the one elevator in the hotel is simply not enough. If there could one day be 2 that would be preferable! Mercure is a good hotel to stay!
Fine hotel! Its in the city. Food is not expensive he re. The only thing is..... Real small beds...160x200. Price of the room was also ok. No compains about the bathroom. Its better than average. What can i say more..
I have stayed at the Mercure Duisberg several times this year -Always 'Solo on business.' The first and lasting impression of this hotel is that the rooms are in desperate need of updating! I mean, when last did any self-respecting interioir decorator get up and say, "What we need to brighten up this place is a bit of woodchip wallpaper!" Don't get me wrong though, it's a nice hotel. The rooms are clean and well maintaintained, the beds are comfortable the restaurant serves a good breakfast... but it just isn't up to the standard if 'Modern German' hotels :-/ The hotel is within short walking dustance from the Duisberg Hauptbahnhof (Train station) and at the esge of the town centre where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Easy access to Dusseldorf by train ir road... pretty much everything you might need! -And if you're feeling a bit nostalgic, and dont mind a bit of woodchip... then this is the place to stay!
Room#232 No internet signal in room, the staff is not helpful and don't care for customers. I stayed three nights and asked art internet issue everyday and no solid response only lip talk. The front office staff was rubbish and had audacity to laugh at customer on being asked to change room or provide a signal booster. I spent more than 1 hr with internet provider on phone and even that didnt help. The rooms are average, no proper temperature control and cleanliness is average or poor.
We sleep very often here. Normally we are very happy. It has changed The staff was the last times not that friendly. Not at the reception, not at the bar, ... . The room was the last 2 times not that clean as you would espect. For example we found a shoe from someone else in the room, the showergel was not refiled, the cleaning plaid Turkish music very loud when cleaning the room, ... . We don't perceive that as a problem, but i can imagine someone else... . The airco in the room doesn't work at all. It is very dirty air. The elivator is a structrual problem. Capacity of the hotel. When checking out it has all been communicated to the staff. You can see in the past i was very happy with this hotel.
We stayed there just last Saturday for one night. The hotel is very conveniently located in the city centre, next to a shopping centre and the High Street. So it was very easy to find a place to eat out. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit dated but it didn't bother us at all. My son really enjoyed the swimming pool which is free to all guests. Breakfast in the morning was really delicious, and the hotel staff made us feel very welcomed. I can highly recommend it.
We stayed for a few days in that hotel in Duisburg. The location is good, close to the city center, close to the main train station and close to the motorway. It was surprisingly quiet. The breakfast is good average, typical business hotel breakfast with buffet style self service. The free internet is incredible slow. FaceTime video is impossible to use and even downloading mail is a challenge. Surfing the web will test your patience. Unacceptable for a four star hotel. Last not least the daily challenge of getting up/downstairs. Just one elevator for a 5 floor hotel to be used by guests and service staff. We waited up to 10 minutes to get in. Resume: it was still worth the money (because it was a special offer). Even though next time I would probably pay a bit more and stay in another hotel close by (better internet, better breakfast and 2 elevators)
This hotel is situated in a shopping location. The 4 star rating is correct however this hotel is very hot inside and has a ventilation system which has been switched off by night so rooms are hot. Open windows Will have lots of noice. The employees are very nice. During breakfast it was very busy however the employees did a great job to make the kids and myself happy, they made warm chocolate for them and cleaned a table when iT was ready. We had a great stay
