This was my second stay. The first time went fairly well, as I wasn’t expecting much to begin with. The second stay was not so good. The rooms were clean, but that’s the only good thing I can say. The chairs in the room were borderline dangerous. The desk chair tipped to the side, the first time I sat in it I nearly tipped over. The other chair had zero spring. As you sat down, you just kept going. The beds are not young, and nine to comfortable. The door to the room was the big issue. The only way to get it to latch was to slam it, which I’m sure the neighbors appreciated. The safety chain appeared to have been well tested and may not have made it through another test. Unless it’s just me, and no wife or kid, we won’t be back.
We stayed here hoping to swim in their indoor pool but it was closed. It seemed like a nice pool, but they were working on it. Our room was plenty large with a microwave and refrigerator. There was a sink in the bathroom and an additional one outside the bathroom. The beds were reasonably comfortable with the cheaper bedding you'd expect in a budget place. Breakfast included two types of cereal, bread/bagels to toast, or prepackaged sweet rolls, a waffle iron and some apples and oranges, along with drinks - nothing fancy. The price was so cheap though that we were content with the place.
Once a year, there's a show that I attend in Emporia. This year, I picked the Rodeway Inn to stay at. It's set behind another hotel, but they have lighted signs and markings painted on the driveway to lead you in, so it wasn't hard to get to overall. I would say that this is a modernized property overall. And, overall, it's just fine for my needs. I took a "accessable" room. The bathroom had odd rails on the toilet, but it didn't get in the way. The water temp and pressure were both decent and far better than a number of places that I've stayed. Towels and such were in good supply. The beds looked kind of short, but slept well enough that I got a good sleep both nights I stayed here. There were plenty of power outlets, scattered around the room, but I was able to work with it. Two story building, no elevator spotted. Since it's two buildings that I saw, I doubt that there is one. The ice machine was older, but produced decent ice, if a bit slowly. Push the button and get a little spray of ice. I had to push the button about 4 times to fill a 32oz cup with ice. Still, though, it worked, the ice was decent, and there were no annoying signs on the machine. Good enough. One thing that I liked, the ice machine was just outside of my door. Very convenient for me. An odd note about the room was that it was longer than a typical room, and the AC/heat was waaay back from the beds. However, this didn't prove to be a real issue, as the room was comfortable anyway. The hotel offers free WiFi, but I don't really use it so long as I have a decent data signal anyway. The price was good, the room worked out just fine. I would book this location again, but I just don't stay in Emporia all that often.
I had a decent stay here but be aware this is an old hotel that has been "modernized." It was very quiet, being set back from the highway. The bed was comfortable but by no means new. I thought the linens were a little thin and worn. I would like to see table lamps with outlets so I can use my CPAP machine bedside and computer on the desk. At least they supplied power strips so that wasn't too much of an issue. The room I had (109) suffered from a terrible internet connection and was very slow and nearly unusable. I didn't have breakfast so I can't speak to the quality. Foreign-owned.
We got into town about 11:00, and just for kicks stopped in at the hotel so we knew where it was. They had actually had an early departure so we were able to check in! The staff was great, and the front lobby and pool area were quite nice. The rest of the hotel is a bit dated, but it is kept up well. Or room was clean, and mostly comfortable. The chair could use replacing, there is very little spring left in the seat so you sink quite a ways into it. The bathroom door didn't quite shut all the way, but with just me and the wife does that really matter? I did like the fact that we were able to park right outside the door like the old days. For the price we paid, this was a four star hotel. Will I come back? Maybe. If it's just me I'll be sure to come back, if it's more than that we'll move a little higher in the quality chain.
A decent motel. Outside entrance to room. Indoor pool closed. Very nice staff went out of their way to help us. The fan in the bathroom of room 100 needs repair or replacement as it is very noisy. The bed was comfortable. Everything in the room was clean. We did lose cable for the tv for a while. Refrigerator and microwave in room. For the price is was great A 10$ fee for animal, however I did not see that when we made reservation. A sign at check in made that clear.
We are just concluding a two-week stay. My husband is here for a class, and I came along just to be with him. We originally had a reservation at a neighboring discount hotel. We made that reservation several months ago, but they conveniently lost it...so, we ended up here. We paid a weekly rate in advance, and that rate would be hard to beat. The hotel is very dated, but mostly clean. There are a few "grimy" areas, but that didn't bother me. We had a room facing the pool, which was nice. The pool is clean and refreshing. I did a lot of coming and going while my husband was in class, and felt very safe. The owners here are amazing. We had a problem with our card reader key entry..permanently locked out. They came immediately with a solution and changed out the card reader by the end of the day. They were very friendly and accommodating, and I felt like they were always watching out for me. The housekeeping crew was unobtrusive, and always seemed to know when I wasn't in the room (that is when they came). The room itself was good...comfortable beds and a hot shower. There was a continental breakfast every morning, which was mostly pastries, waffles, and cereal. It was sufficient for us, and there were places to get breakfast within easy drive. The only down side was the room was very dark, even with all the lights on. Maybe updating the lighting would help. There were two sinks in our room, which was nice, but the fluorescent light above it never did work. There are a washer/dryer available, as well as snack and ice machines. The hotel was basically very quiet and worth the discounted weekly price. If you are looking for fancy and plush, this isn't it. However, we will definitely tag here again.
Clean. Usual kind of breakfast with waffles! The person at the registration desk was very help full. Gave us some tips on how to save money while traveling. Would recommend to anyone. The pool looked very nice but did not have time to swim.
Our room had built up dirt in corners, small holes in bathroom walls, damaged door in bathroom, tv remote could not change channels. Probably would not have stayed but needed to get some rest because we had another long day ahead of us
I was traveling across country, picking up various family members for a family reunion of sorts. My trip was long and I was looking for hotels around a certain price point. The first one I stayed in was a horror and I cancelled all my reservations at every hotel around that price point save one, this one. And I'm glad I kept this reservation!! My brother and my son were with me at this point, and we weren't looking for extras we wouldn't use. We were looking for clean, comfortable, and everything functioned -WE GOT ALL OF IT. We all said that this hotel is one of the best we've stayed in during this trip (including one that was, without discount, 4x more expensive ) . The room was huge! They even had a rollaway bed for my son (the 4x more expensive hotel near Denver, CO did not have one). The stairs up to our 2nd floor room were not high, which my knees appreciated greatly. It was quiet. We will be staying here again!
