We had such a wonderful stay, unfortunately it wasn't long enough. The two nights we did stay we had such a great time, from sitting on our private balcony over the lagoon watching the array of starfish and jelly fish, at night its amazing! To the seriously delicious meals we had, from very talented chef Joe!! Gladys is such a delightful Concierge and Elizabeth you will always have a special place in my heart, your an angel and you all made our time with you so special, I'm already saving to come back soon!! Beautiful people, breathtaking views, comfort, relaxation, great cocktails and seriously delicious food, perfection!
Total relaxation, spoilt by wonderful staff members wanting to make our stay wonderful and memorable. Extra teabags for strong tea at breakfast - wonderful. Lovely romantic dinner on our balcony overlooking the water to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.
Jen, Ann, Debbie, Anna & Harry. Our stay at the Sunset Bungalows was the best holiday experience imaginable. A huge 10 stars plus to all the staff, starting on arrival with Audry and Greg, all their exceptional staff with special mention to Elizabeth, Angela, Gladys and the lovely Gilbert and Joe. Nothing was too much trouble, the menu offered a wide choice, and the meals were delicious. Our bungalow was great, and the balcony with the superb views and our own array of starfish was just perfect for an afternoon drink or two. We will never forget our time at Sunset and are planning a return trip. Thank you ALL
Let me start by saying a BIG THANK YOU to all the Sunset team! Audry and Greg made me right at home! Angela was soooo helpful and Gladys is the most happy, welcoming, sweet person I met in Vanuatu.. Everyone there made me feel like nothing was too much of an effort, (i don't remember everyones names though) The food was delicious and there was plenty to choose from.. The setting for this place is something out of a fairy tale... To wake up in the morning and open big french doors and see 20+ large starfish within reaching distance is nothing short of awesome... I was here for 10 glorious days by myself and it really did feel like home.. A few small things that I'm not writing about to complain, but just to give other travelers a heads up... The studio's are smoking rooms, (i wasn't aware of that prior to arrival) so the smell of smoke took some getting used to.. Even though the resort is on a tranquil lagoon with BEAUTIFUL views, it is also on a main road, so can be noisy at certain times of the day.. And last of all, sometimes the drains would smell in the bathroom.. Nothing too bad, but maybe something that might get to some people unless it's fixed.. With all that said, I would definitely go back if I knew the team were still there.. They really made my trip worth while... GO TEAM SUNSET! THANK YOU!! 😀
First I want to start by saying a huge thankyou to Greg. When I came down with the worst headache I've ever experienced in my life, Greg (the manager) gave me some of his own stronger painkillers after the panadol at the front desk didn't help which allowed me to get to sleep. The next morning when I felt worse, he booked me a doctor's app in town and even drove me and my boyfriend there and picked us up when I was done. Now that's service! Emergency illnesses asside, this was a fab ulous place to stay and we had a wonderful time. Other staff were also very friendly. Facilities were great. The dining deck and room from out standard suite room were amazing. The food was great too and room service for the full menu was no extra charge! Staff recomendations were plentiful and helpful. We didn't need to book any tours but we heard other guests doing so and it sounded easy. The property is a 10-15 min bus ride out of town, but the buses are so easy to catch and so regular, so don't let that stop you booking. Couldn't recommend this place enough.
We stayed a few nights at Sunset Bungalows and there was nothing to complain about. In fact the staff were really lovely, and so was the room. The included breakfast was good, not a buffet like many other places but table service from set menu. The restaurant was good the one evening we ate there too. It's a bit out of Port Vila but it's easy enough to get in to town in one of the local buses. Audrey came and had a chat when she saw us, at breakfast for example, and shared some handy hints about things to do and how to get there, which is useful. The lagoon was a disappointment as it was very dirty looking. We were told it's because of storms, but I'm not convinced. We had one of the hotel type rooms and one night our neighbours were very noisy. From this point of view the freestanding bure's are likely to be a better option.
My husband and I stayed at Sunset Bungalows for our honeymoon in Vanuatu and it was simply incredible. The location was great and the view from our bungalow was perfection. A special thank you to Edna, Gladys and Angela who were such a joy! They were so helpful and a lot of fun - definitely added to the whole experience.
Great bungalows right over the lagoon, very friendly staff always helpful. Audrey & Greg are fantastic hosts and can organise ant trips you want cheaper than you can. Restaurant if fantastic with great cheifs and the food is always very fresh.
This was a nice place with great hosts in Greg & Audrey. The rooms were clean, air-conditioned, had TV & very spacious with fabulous decks over the water. The fishing off the deck was disappointing - they give you meat as bait & some pretty ordinary fishing gear. If you are serious about this, there are fish to be caught, but bring your own gear & get your own bait - something fish will actually eat. The girls working in the restaurant & bar were wonderful (big shout out to Elizabeth!) & the food was ok. The steaks were admittedly disappointing after we enjoyed Santo beef in Luganville, but you can't have it all. Note that this place is a good 45 minutes by local bus to the airport & at least 30 minutes to town. I would happily stay here again.
If you are looking for real value for money, a resort that offers first class service and excellent accommodation, then look no further than Sunset Resort. My wife and I have just spent a week at Sunset and we will go back there without hesitation on our next visit to the island. The resort is not on the beach but it is on the very waters edge of second lagoon offering plenty of privacy and uninterrupted water views. The resort is about 10 minutes drive from the center of Port Vila and easily accessible by one of the ever present mini buses that will charge you less than a dollar to get you there. We really had a very enjoyable stay, the staff are just awesome and will go out of their way to make you feel at home and like one of the family. The food is very good and we had a sumptuous breakfast every morning to get us going for the day (included in our rate). We also enjoyed a few good happy hours and cocktails on the deck and we ate at the restaurant most nights as the food is first class - can highly recommend their lobster mornay. The room was really great, quiet and private in every respect and a comfortable four posted bed with full mosquito netting, which we did not really need but it added to the ambiance. We also had no idea of what to do when we arrived on the island but Sunset has a full on info tourist desk and the team there went out of their way to explain everything and make all the necessary bookings. In all we loved it and I have never written such a long review before but I felt compelled to take the time and to give credit where real credit is due. Thanks to all the Sunset team, you guys are awesome :)
