We chose Mangoes because it is adults only and ten minutes from town, but it doesn’t say it’s very hilly so we caught a bus every day cause it’s only 3 dollars return or 5 by taxi. Buses and taxis run frequently passed mangoes and you just have to wave them down. There are 3 things you can choose for breakfast if you are having a light breakfast or you just pay the difference for a full breakfast. Air conditioning is not included there is a payment of 15 dollars a day if you want it and extra for wifi in your room, wifi is free in the restaurant. The power went out when we were there and there is no generator for back up. Apparently the management will not give them one, which is very frustrating when your paying for a service but don’t receive it. The meals are nice. Staff is great. Be careful of the taxi drivers as they will try to rip you off also some of the bus drivers. The massagers are amazing ask for Lucy. Would stay here again.
Room: Was clean and had a couch, tv and beds. Maid didn't restock our finished toiletries until we requested it at reception. Location: 10 minutes bus ride from Port Vila so that was handy. Otherwise nothing special. Amenities: Kitchen sink, fridge and microwave which was awesome. Pool filter behind the wall right next to your bed so good luck in having a good nights sleep. Wizz wizzz wizz. BEST PART: after all the good money that you pay for this resort, you have to pay friken $30!! for room wifi. WILL NOT STAY EVER AGAIN, that really pissed me right off.
We stayed next door at The Terraces Apartments. We are at mangoes a few times and the scrambled eggs was a great breakfast, as was the poached eggs, pancakes and the French toast. Only dined their one night, but that was also pretty good.
Staff could not do enough for you and were always upbeat and pleasant without being obtrusive. The bungalows were well appointed, spacious and clean. Was nice having a choice of pools and the breakfast was very nice.
Word of advice! Dont stay at mangoes! Rooms are filthy! We were supposed to stay 5 nights, checked out after 1 night! Spoke to the manager she informed us we would get some sort of a refund! We checked out asking our travel agent to source a refund of some sort, only to be told nothing would be given to us. Disgusted!!!
Mangoes is great. The vibe is grown up and sophisticated. Rooms are huge, bright, and well appointed. The grounds are colourful and full of flowers. The resort is a little oasis of calm, and you usually have one of the three/four pools to yourself. Wifi (available for free in the lobby and restaurant, but not the rooms) is fast, easy to use and reliable. But by far the best thing about Mangoes is the food. The chef really knows what they are doing, with interesting/unusual flavours and local ingredients used in an innovative way. We ended up changing our original plans and eating at Mangoes every night, just because it was so good. The quality extended to breakfast too.
We chose Mangoes for the last two days of our Vanuatu holiday and were pleased with stay. Clean and well appointed Bungalow accommodation but perhaps some tea and coffee sachets in the room would have been nice. We had one meal in their restaurant and whilst really good was not exception although very good value for money. The staff were all very attentive but it would be nice not to always get hassled by the taxi drivers as you leave the hotel, If you like cats Spike the resident cat is very attentive and looking for love.
This is an amazing place to stay. Fresh breeze overnight into your Bungalow. 3 great pools and a great place to receive a massage. Good view from Bungalow. Highly recommend this to anyone. Great value.
We stayed at Mangoes for the first time in April 2017. The resort, facilitates and staff were wonderful! As we had been to Vanuatu previously and stayed at other resorts, we were surprised how well priced this resort was. The layout of the resort is great as there are 3 different pool areas so guests can spread out and not be on top of each other. Mangoes is close to town however we optioned to have a quad bike for most of our stay as we like to get out and about. When we needed taxi's the reception desk happily organized this for us. We have already booked again at Mangoes for our next holiday!
Mangoes is a short walk from the city centre Has great staff working in the restaurant Friendly reception staff Management were excellent when there was a medical emergency Looked after our bags while we went to Tanna and were then welcomed back for a second stay Quiet and peaceful as it's adults only Able to use gym/tennis facilities from property next door Had a fan cooled bungalow which was more than adequate but would need aircon if staying in summer
