Iririki Island Resort & Spa

We travelled as a family over the New Year period for a week and stayed in two Island Fares. The rooms were comfortable but we had power blackouts and TV/Wi-Fi issues – I gave up requesting our TV to be fixed. The fridges in these rooms were hopeless and did not keep our drinks cold. Infinity Pool – the rule for no U12 children needs to be enforced. I witnessed two boys under 10, one with floaties on, play in the pool while their parents ate dinner in the restaurant leaving the guests around the pool to supervise their children! The resort is in a nice location but our visit the cost of the food and drinks was very expensive. Local beer is $10 (AUD) – roughly the same price as imported beers. Local beer off the island was 50% of the price. While we were there, the Azure restaurant was only offering buffet meals for dinner instead of the advertised a la carte menu on the website. At around $60 AUD per person, ($240 for the family per night) this was too expensive for dinner and we ate off the island at half the price. The New Year’s Eve dinner would have cost our family $800 AUD so we did not attend.

We have recently returned home after staying at Iririki Island Resort. We loved our stay! A very special thank you to Laxman, Dorina and Lily for their care and taking the time to look after us so well. The staff here are just fantastic. Everyone takes the time to greet you with a smile. The rooms were lovely, clean and the air-conditioning and fans were great. We staying in an ocean view apartment and the spa on the deck was great. The sunset view each evening was just gorgeous. There was some issues with the TV and WiFi in the room but the staff were wonderful and there is so many other things to do that we did not miss either. We went to the Melanesian Feast which had an excellent buffet and the live entertainment was great and they involved the audience which was a lot of fun. We also went to the sunset wine and cheese evening. The evening was lovely, and Laxman was fantastic! The Polynesian Banquet was delicious, all local foods turned into restaurant quality dishes. We tried many foods that we have never even heard of. The Banana Soup with Pumpkin rolls was delicious! I wish we have this made for us at home. The steak cooked on hot rocks was so tender that it melted in your mouth and the Manioc crepes were just divine. We also were lucky to go on the Iririki Splash tour. Thank you Lily! Freddie our tour guide was just the best. He was informative and fun. Harry the driver was also fun and informative. We had such a great time with them. We went to three water locations surrounding Port Vila... Eton Beach, Blue Lagoon (avoid if a cruise ship is in town, this was our least favourite place due to the crowd) and Rentapao River Waterfall. The BBQ and fire show was wonderful as well and not to be missed. Bonus we got a fantastic table on the deck with a view of the harbour! The breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and lots of fresh fruit and pastries! Enjoyable way to start the day. Overall, we loved our stay and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. --Please have a variety of pillow sizes in the room as they are all very high fluffy pillows (which most people probably like). I requested a smaller pillow and the staff were more than happy to help. --Please think about limiting the cruise ship visitors as the ones we encountered were rather loud and unpleasant.

WE stayed here about 3 years ago and had an excellent relaxing time. This time we were on a cruise and knew we could visit for the day. Previously it was A$15 which included ferry, use of facilities and water craft. The $15 was given back as a voucher which bought a good meal and a drink. Now it is A$20 and $10 is taken to visit, leaving A$10. A hamburger (served almost raw!?) cost A$20 and a local beer A$10. Then we were told we could not use the main wet edge pool but had to use the "one down the back". We used it anyway! What a disappointment this visit was! We were embarrassed to take fellow cruisers there as they felt "ripped off". Never again!

My partner and I recently stayed here for a little 1 week get-away. We were astound by the amazing views, facilities and the kindness and generosity of every staff member. All staff made our time visiting worthwhile. Lili was more than helpful, giving and made us feel at home, we could not have asked for a more pleasant stay. If you're lucky enough to do the Iririki Splash tour, you could not ask for a more enthusiastic and beautiful guide than Freddy. We have and will recommend friends and family to stay at this incredible resort. We will most definitely be back!

We stayed as a couple over the New Years period for a week. The island is lovely, snorkling available right off the coast, water sports equipment free to use, and just off the coast from Port Vila with a very quick 24 hour ferry service. The rooms were great, we had a Garden Fare, was lovely and spacious. However, there were numerous issues. During our stay there were constant power outages, this of course resulting in nil aircon, wifi, TV. This resort was picked over others due to wifi availability in the rooms, in order to conduct some business and leisure. Power outages were a major issue, it is very humid at this time of year we stayed and the Fare heated up very quick! The staff suggestion that we spend more time by the pool to cool down was not good enough, one can not be expected to spend all day by a pool and not use your room. Once the power returned, Wifi and TV could still not be used until someone came to the room, constant calls with constant replies stating someone would be there to fix it resulted in, nothing! There was very poor follow up from the reception staff. Food was average, the NYE party was fantastic, as were the food offerings, but from then on it was average/poor. We attended "Asian Night", over $50 AUD for some noodles and stir fry, complete rip off. Food offerings throughout day was on par with poor pub grub. After asian night we refused to spend anymore money with the resort for food and went elsewhere, expect for the time we ordered sweet potato fries and they were cold and needed to be returned. NYE and New years day no day visitors were allowed on the island, it was bliss and very civilised. Once the floodgates were open the pool areas were overcrowded and full of rowdy visitors wearing day pass wristbands, we had to leave the area as it was not relaxing despite requests to staff about the day guests being disrupting. Also children were constantly in the over 12 year old pool, staff did not act on requests to politely as them to use the other pool area that caters to children. The island needs much improvement to warrant the price being payed.

We stayed in an overwater bungalow with a stunning view of the harbour entrance. Saw magnificent cruise liners coming alongside. The staff were very helpful at all times and did try to solve issues e.g. Wifi, blackouts and sporadic TV... our only criticism is the food. We found the food very expensive, not good value for money and attention to detail is required... e.g. Candles around yoghurt and fruit at the breakfast are not a great idea as it did not keep the food cold...more covers are needed to protect food and drink orders at dinner need to be taken when people sit down not 45 mins later... egg station needs to be up and running at the start of breakfast... we tended to go across to the mainland to eat when we would rather have stayed at the resort ...this aside, we did have a very relaxing holiday...

We were looking forward to staying at Iririki for 9 nights, can't say I would come back. For a resort which is rated 4.5 stars it definitely is no way near this standard. Even the manager advised there are no 4.5-5 star resorts in Vanuatu. I appreciate this rating isn't given by the resort but by the scores left by previous guests. I can only imagine that the guests who rate this a 4 or higher either don't travel much or not to real 4.5-5 star hotels. We stayed in 2 of the fares which were of a good size and kept clean and tidy. Our air conditioner did not work effectively so we cleaned out the filthy filter but it did not perform any better. Our other fare worked brilliantly. By this time we had worked out that complaining to reception did nothing. The complimentary Wi-Fi rarely worked the entire 9 days we were there. Of course, we contacted reception to advise of Wi-Fi outage to be told they would have someone come fix which never happened! We have to run a business while away on holidays and require Wi-Fi to do this. The complimentary buffet breakfast never kept up with demand and people were left waiting for food to be replenished. There was only one person on the egg/omelette station which was in high demand, which left you waiting for up to 30 mins for your order to be brought to your table. My husband went to breakfast one morning and noticed that there was a lot of vacant tables on the balcony. He took a seat and noticed an awful stench to see just below they were emptying the septic! At breakfast time!! Other guests also noticed this and were far from impressed. When the ships come in, their passengers can purchase day passes to the island. Great revenue raiser for Iririki but unfortunately they do tend to take over the pool areas, to the detriment of the guests who have paid top dollar to stay here. No pool towels were available at any point on one day! One boat was full of a young crowd which were well on their way by the time they reached Iririki at lunchtime and were just obnoxious and swearing around the young kids in the pool. Our last night on the island we had ordered a room service meal. Forty minutes later we rang room service to see where it was, to be told they would check and call back. We phoned again 10 minutes later to be told the same. We then rang reception who were going to check. My husband then went to restaurant to get answers to be told they couldn’t find our order!! We went without. Very disappointing service as we had room service on another night and food was great. Snorkelers Cove is a peaceful haven to relax away from the pool areas. It is a great place for amateurs like me to try snorkelling before venturing out to other sites around Vanuatu. Vanuatu is a stunning place with such a friendly bunch of locals. Iririki Island has so much to offer and could be the 4.5 star if management really fixed the issues mentioned in the reviews given on TripAdvisor. You advertise you have Wi-Fi on your island when in fact you really don’t or rarely do. This needs to be addressed and fixed as if you go back through the reviews it dates back as an ongoing issue from before 2016. You can cross to the mainland and get Wi-Fi straight away so it is an Iririki Island issue not Vanuatu. Just because you call them complimentary doesn’t mean they don’t have to be of a working standard. We chose Iririki because you have these inclusions not because they are complimentary as we all know these are actually factored into your pricing. As mentioned Vanuatu is a beautiful holiday destination especially for those loving the outdoors and water activities.

My husband and I have just returned after staying 2 weeks at Iririki. This is our 4th stay here. I had my 40th there back in 2010 and our wedding in 2014 and we just love the place. I can't speak more highly of the beautiful staff, many of them have been there for years and they always have a big smile on their face when we return. They are the most accommodating and friendly staff we have ever experienced anywhere in the world. The resort itself is just beautiful. We have stayed in all accommodation types. My favourite being the apartments, my husband's favourite being the over water Fares where you can feed the fish off your blacony. All are more than great! There are a a lot of included activities on the island they range from Kayaking, Catamarans, Bikes and Snorkelling in Snorkelers cove being a favourite - it''s just beautiful down there. There are a variety of options for dinner on different nights ranging from a traditional Melanesian night, Seafood Buffet and more. We had Christmas at the resort this year and it was very special. We had carols by candlelight on Christmas Eve down on the front beach followed by and amazing 3 course dinner and Christmas Day was so much fun with a beautiful Gospel singer signing carols, amazing buffet lunch and a visit from Santa and Lily Santa's helper!!! There are two beautiful pools - the Infinity Pool which is quieter as no little ones under 12 and there is the Sunset pools which is huge and lots of fun for children. Management bend over backwards to make sure you have an amazing time. I can't speak more highly of this gem of a resort.

Stayed here for 10 days during the Xmas New years period. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We too had many issued with wifi and Television services during our stay. We had a pool view on ground floor which was great as thats what we asked for. Breakfast was very average. They have the facilities to do better. Having said all that they are small negatives. The place is very beautiful and tranquil and relaxing. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you for a great holiday Iririki.

Beautiful resort with staff that are heaven sent! Amazing amenities and activities, which will absolutely make your trip! Staff are ready to help out in an second and are always there with a smile! Rooms are clean and tidy with aircon and good clean working bathrooms! The lost point is for the wifi service. It almost never worked in our room and we had to find a secluded area on the island to get reception! We hated saying goodbye to his place- it was amazing!
