Sandman Signature Edmonton South Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

One of my favorite places to stay in South Edmonton. The rooms are spacious which is uncommon in newer hotels and the location is top notch for getting around the city. The beds and pillows are perfect.
Stayed at the hotel over a weekend. Check in was quick and easy. Modern lobby, great room on the third floor. A bowl of apples was on the reception desk and they had ice cold water available near the elevators. In the morning we noticed hot coffee available. Gym was clean and good machines. Didn't use the pool. Parking was ample and there were 3 restaurants next door. No view as you are just off the highway, yet the rooms were quiet and had black out curtains. Would definitely stay again.
First the good things: Easy parking, great lobby and restaurants attached to the property and several restaurants closeby. The negatives: Room 453 should NEVER be rented out to paying customers. it's located next to the ice machine and drinks machine which wouldn't be much of a issue. However it's also located next to the hotel's staff laundry room & room cleaning stock room. Ever want to feel how it's like to be in a earthquake? Stay in this room. you will start shaking from 10AM until 5PM. It's like your walking on a ship with the floor shaking below you. Another bad thing? The wifi! Speedtest gave a 0.32MB download.. Might aswell bring your dialup modems from the 90's because they will give you better speeds. The hotel itself isn't that bad but for these reasons alone I will never return.
The beds are very comfortable! The pillows are perfect! Excellent front desk service and the hotel was clean and well taken care of. I slept like I was in a coma. Woke up refreshed and had a hot shower and then walked to Dennys for breakfast which is attached to the hotel. That evening I walked to Chop (attached as well) and had an AMAZING dinner. Ask for Cat to be your server. She is the best server in North America. This is now my favourite place to stay and eat. Thank you for the experience.
This is my second time at this hotel, and there have been problems both times. Both TV's, the one in the living room, and the bedroom, didn't work. I didn't discover this until after 10 at night, so I didn't want maintenance coming in and waking up my son. Also, all of the interior doors lock, with a simple push button. And there is NO safety release on the outside of the door. That means that a child could easily lock themselves in either the bedroom, or the bathroom, and there would be no way to access the room unless you took part of the doorknob off!!!! When I told the front desk this, the Agent told me there's a "Master Key".....um...nope! there is not!!! This is a huge safety risk and I would never stay here again with my son.
Our family has decided on Edmonton as our back to school shopping destination and has made a little trip of it two years in a row. Each time we have booked with the Sandman Signature and been glad for it. Making the reservation was easy and the representative worked with me and the hotel manager to ease out a kink in the room price due to a simple miscommunication on an earlier call. We stayed five nights in total, adding an additional night mid way through the week with no hassle. We were able to use the loyalty program to book the additional night at no cost which was a fantastic way to extend our vacation. As members of the program we also had access to the Starlounge. The coffee machine was new from last year when we stayed, it brewed us up rather tasty French vanillas, cappuccino, and hot drinks for the kids. For us this was really appreciated and meant one less stop to make in the morning on the way to our destination, a real time saver when nothing is familiar. We also took advantage of the book exchange and in the lobby the daily newspapers gave us a flavour of the local scene. The commissary was well stocked which was great as there didn't seem to be a corner store within walking distance. The front end staff were always pleasant and helpful, and I heard them giving the same quality attention to other guests when I happened to be in the lobby. The daily room turn down kept us well stocked and tidy and always felt respectful. The kids used the pool and we all ate several times at the attached Denny's which accommodated our tables various food predilections with no questions asked substitutions, again making family travel that much easier. We booked the family suite with bunkbeds again and brought an extra kid this time. They both loved it and we had the privacy of the bedroom with king bed. The kitchenette was great and the fridge big enough for more than some beverages. I wasn't able to get the wifi on my laptop but I suspect user error as all our other devices connected easily. Two separate TVs made down time in the room hassle free; black out blinds and great AC made sleep easy. We've stayed at several Sandman Signature properties including the one in our hometown and it looks like each features photography from the local area. If so it would be great to have a little caption somewhere to tell travellers where the photos depict. Finally, parking was great and never a problem, the Prince George and Kamloops locations can both feel a little crowded in the lot. All in all it was great stay. What we had hoped for and met our expectations from last time. Really can't think of better value for the money. Very likely we'll be back next year.
Stayed here this last weekend as we were in town for an anniversary trip. Found this hotel after looking at dozens more trying to find a suite with a jacuzzi. We ended up booking this room strictly due to the price difference compared to other hotels. We were shocked at what we got for the price, large sitting area, kitchen, amazing shower and separate jacuzzi. Our room even came complete with a dishwasher. Shower door didn't seem to close quite right which made for some pooling on the bathroom floor and resulting in a slight milldewey smell but very minor. We will be staying here next time we're in town without a doubt.
Sandman hotels are great. This one is no exception. Comfy rooms, wifi available, good restaurants at the hotel and around. Location isn't perfect but there are more restaurants and amenities a short walk away. Staff is always friendly. I enjoy staying here.
We stayed here when we attended our niece's wedding. It was very nice. The room was quiet and comfortable. It was decorated nice. The amenities are good and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would have stayed longer if it was possible.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights this week when I was in Edmonton on business. Very spacious rooms with plenty of amenities- seating area, desk, kitchenette?robe etc. Overall my stay was a positive experience. Denny's and another restaurant right in the lobby and other restaurant options nearby. Detractors: it is a bit of a distance from downtown and if you just want a light continental breakfast you have no option but to get in your car or go to one of the restaurants. That having been said, from a value perspective this hotel is a very good option if you don't mind being a bit out of town.
