The staff was really courteous & the hotel location was good..

My friend and I only had a few hours to spend sight seeing in the city, so we booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express in the City Centre since it was close to the main streets (Princes Street and the Royal Mile). The staff was very welcoming and understanding! After traveling for two days with no showers or beds, they said they would make the room available to us as soon as possible, which they did. The room itself was small (think quaint dorm), but there was no reason for anything bigger since there is much to do just a few blocks away from the hotel. Additionally, the bus station was right down the street, about a five minute walk, which was perfect for our bus in the morning. Also, this hotel had a free, continental breakfast, which was both tasty and filling. Overall, I would definitely stay in this hotel again!

Central location, clean rooms, and the free breakfast made this hotel worhwhile

The location on Leith Walk is great, as it puts you in easy walking range of the train station, museums, the Royal Mile, and even the castle. My room, however, was exceptionally noisy, as any vehicular traffic noise resonates in the windows. This noise is out of proportion to what would be expected for that road. Additionally, the room was drafty, and overall not conducive to a good sleep. The Internet connection is abysmal. Like it or not, a good Internet connection is now frequently expected in hotels (especially ones costing this much). The verdict: Good location, but otherwise mediocre.

very centrally located, a bit of construction going on in front, which made for a difficult delivery. Seem to book many tour groups through this hotel, which they handle very well. A plentiful breakfast served daily and nice bar for beverages. Staff was very kind and helpful when needed. I was a single traveler and would definitely return to this hotel in the future. Price was right and location couldn't have been better!

The Holiday Inn marque didnt hold up so well this time. The majoriity of the desk staff needed more training on Customer Service. Basically unconcerned. We found only 1 ice maker on the ground floor. It had what I would call 18 oz cups for your ice. We were seniors and my friend with a knee handicap, and stayed on the 4th floor. Room was small and no closets or dresser drawers. We were there for 6 days. What was there appeared to be a an open Media Center against the wall with nothing but offset shelves!!! (better not be taking your woman !) ...that was absurd. It was an attic room...basically a closet, with one window that appeared non-opening until we had to go down and ask them to open it. We certainly wont stay there again, nor recommend and will review any Holiday Inn very carefully, if at all.

nicely renovated from big old building, very comfortable to stay. Inconvenience, if any, would be a little bit distant from the castle and the royal miles...but still can get there on foot in 10 min ... rather quiet at night which could be advavntage over those hotels near busy street

Pleasant stay.

The hotel was excellent. It was withing 10 minutes walking distance from the Royal Mile, shopping centers, and Edinburgh Castle. The staff was helpful in every way and we were never put out by them. We will be going back.

Great location - close to Princess street, bus station and rail station. Breakfast is included in the price - it was great, but it closes at 9:30 AM on week day, so missed it once. Rooms are spacious, there is TV, hair dryer and most importantly FREE Internet

Hotel location was unbeatable malls restaurants movies and sight seeing were all within walking distance of the hotel! The contential breakfast was amazing! Satff was very friendly and always willing to help!

This was a terrific location for us, close to the center of everything, very reasonable prices, well-appointed modern rooms, great front-desk staff and housekeeping. The first place I'll check for availability when I go back to Edinborough.
