Awful place. Did not get the room that I paid for. Was put in a room that has no outside windows, the one window it had was frosted and behind it was the hotel laundry. People standing outside your window throughout the day. Talking loud. Machines running at all hours. Then they refuse to move us nor to compensate us for giving a room I did not book. Awfully rude staff too. Absolute disaster. Avoid. And if you can’t avoid then definitely double check before you go that you’re getting the room you paid for because they literally don’t care

Good place to stay before a flight - No contact checkout allowed me to leave the building by 6:01am, walk 1 minute to the bus stop, and make it to the airport by 6:15am. One thing i really did not like was their baggage storage. The bag storage room was bascially in a hallway that anyone in the hotel could walk through. If you are travelling with any valuable gear, and you arrive before your 3pm check-in time, I would not plan to store your bags, since they wont store it behind a locked door, or give you a tag/receipt for holding it. They had 3 office rooms on the ground floor, which seems like alot for a small hotel - I would recommend to management that they create some space for secure baggage storage in the future. Otherwise, this is a solid spot for a breif stay in EDI, and perfect if you're about to fly.

Quaint and clean with courteous Staff

Quaint, clean and reasonably priced on the bus line to the Center of Edinburgh . The staff were pleasant, courteous and helpful. Beds were uncomfortable. Furniture in the lounge area could use a refresh-but overall a lovely place to stay with the local shops offering choices for breakfast and lunch.

The property was reasonably priced and in a good location. We had good night’s sleep on both nights of our stay and were comfortable. Breakfast was not included but reasonable for the price of £9.95 (continental). The porridge was excellent! The decor was quite tired and it was quite dark inside. The dining room had an aroma of fried food. The staff were flexible and we were able to change rooms as the original room was at the top of quite a steep staircase and very hot and airless. Our second room was larger, more airy and had a seating area which looked out onto the garden and was pleasant.

This hotel needs a major renovation. The conversion from a house to a hotel is very poor and not up to modern standards. The bathroom finishes are very messy, the toilet has been wedged into a tight corner and the bath itself is dangerous and slippery when wet from the shower. The soap shelf was also broken. The only positive point was that it was close to the friend we were visiting.

The lodge staff were kind and helpful however the room felt dark and musty. I could hear people talking and moving around in adjoining areas. Shower small. Probably would not suit anyone over 150 lbs. or 5'10'. For the price it seemed below average. It was close to bus service and grocery stores. Kind of a weird check-in process.

The hotel is a short 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop with buses leaving regularly to and from the city center (a 30-minute bus ride). It is also only 2-3 stops from the Edinburgh Zoo. Breakfast is available, but not included, and is a little pricey, even for the cheapest- the 'continental style' breakfast.

We were greeted by a lovely staff member close to 9:00pm. Easy check in. Very quiet area. If stairs are an issue you will need to request a downstairs room. No elevator. Our room was pleasant and clean. Perfect location only 3 stops from the airport.

Unpleasant stay

The mattress was had springs sticking up and uncomfortable. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs… one flight of stairs was a small spiral narrow winding stairs and it was almost impossible to get your luggage up it. There was no elevator. There was also suppose to be WiFi and it did not work for our entire stay.
