This hotel has a great central location. The staff are very friendly and bilingual. Top mark's to the staff. However on arrival, the hotel was a filthy building site. Buildings materials out in the public pathway. Also, obstructing entrance to hotel car park. Level 3 of the hotel was an unattended hazardous building site mess. I was disgusted. My room on level 6 was adequate inside and very clean. Sadly the room had no air conditioning. It was way too hot to be without air conditioning.

Being honest I created more expectations for the hotel. The location is not bad: 15/20 min walk to the Train Station, has some supermarkets and restaurants nearby; The reception staff was not really nice, some seemed really tired and everytime I would speak to them they would answer me and I always felt like they were just doing it as an obligation. The only reason I gave an average classification to the service was considering the only person who was really nice to me and my family and always greeted us with a real smile and helped us when needed: The Breakfast service man, which name unfortunately I did not memorize, but worked during the breakfast on the 18th and 19th of August. He was literally the only person in the staff that even being really early in the morning (around 6am) was there to welcome us and make the place feel like home. About the bedrooms I think they were functional. They had the 4 beds we needed, a bathroom, the windows had a medium isolation from the outside noise. But, for some reason, the shower had hair in the wall left in there. It's not really the cleaning staff fault's but the previous room guest but I still wonder if the bathroom was cleaned after the last person checked-out or if the person decided to ignore that hairy presence in the wall. Anyway, nothing that some toilet paper to grab it and throw in the bin couldn't solve. Overall, my experience was average, it did not attend the expectations I created, maybe for the lack of empathy from the staff (except the breakfast guy) or the hair episode.

15 minutes walk from the train station, 20 minutes up to the shopping district. Supermarkets nearby. You can reach most of central Dusseldorf by foot from this hostel. The spacious kitchen/dining area could use some more utensils, but it's got the basics. The lounge is also spacious with a kids play area. As it's an A&O you know the bathrooms are decent. A proper enclosed shower is a treat when you're hostelling. The only bad part is the noise- drunk people arguing on the street right outside the lounge, and the noise in the lounge itself carries right into the rooms. Same as the smell of whatever is cooking in the kitchen. A few of the guests spent most of their time hanging out in the entrance and spitting all over the door step. I hope for the cleaner's sake that isn't typical! Altogether, nothing fantastic but it does the job.

Today I got my cash stolen from a locker which i had secured with a LOCK... so someone had picked my lock and took 900EUR and 150GBP from my bag.. went to the receptionist.. asked her if she could help me check her fellow workers (cleaners) that go in and out of our room to clean but she said she can't do that.. she doesnt seem to care or is concerned that there is a thief going around stealing backpacker's money.. me being an idiot.. I should have not brought so much cash with me.. Lesson learnt.. the least she could do is help me check.. I dont know if it's an insider thing or fellow backpacker going around stealing people's cash.. receptionist didn't offer to help in any way.. I was the one who had asked her for the address of the nearby police.. AVOID this hostel and dont use their lockers! Unless you want the same thing to happen to you.. and yes even when you need a card to access your room.. cleaners are able to go in and out.. I dont know how the person(s) is/are able to go into my locker and steal my cash.. and then have it locked again.. the key is with me constantly

The hotel/hostel room was dirty with stains on the furniture and flooring, the room service consisted of emptying the bins, sam towels for 3 days. The area outside the hotel was extremely dirty with copious amounts of rubbish and cigarette ends scattered all over the front of the hotel. Also the windows where stained with liquid spillage of an unknown origin. And a complete failure on there site to inform guests that rooms to the rear of the building face onto an active building site who start work at 7am grinding drilling and all the noises you get on a building site. Also there is no air conditioning so the rooms resembled a sauna

My friend and I stayed at the a&O Duesseldorf Hauptbahnhof for one night as we were attending the Dortmund v Tottenham Champions league match on 05.03.2019. The hostel was perfect for our needs. Centrally located, close to the HBF train station, clean, comfortable and the receptionist that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a six bed dorm. Room was clean and spacious and the bunks were very comfortable (Additional €3.50 charge for bedsheets). Shower was a good temperature and power. We were probably only in the room for about 4-5 hours and just needed a good, albeit brief, sleep and a good shower. We got both for a very reasonable price. Will return if Spurs ever draw Dortmund again.

3 stars but only just. VERY basic...used for a stag do whereby we simply needed a bed for the weekend. Woken up at 7am by the building site at the back. This won't be finished anytime soon. Breakfast terrible. Nothing hot except soup(!). Ideal for large parties and fairly near (15-20 mins) the old town where all the nightlife is. Staff friendly.

When comparing its cheap price (a room for 50 euro), to its facilities, then this hotel is good. Room size and facilities are fair enough. We stayed in the hotel section. They have billiard table and baby foot in their wide reception, where you can meet and chit chat with other travelers. Breakfast is with extra cost, 7 euro per person, of course its quality is average with limited options, but come on, it is for only 7 euro, so fair enough. The hotel is 10 minutes walking from the city center and the famous beautiful street "Konigallee". I noticed there was only one guy preparing the breakfast's contents, preparing the food, presenting it, filling the milk, everything, I felt pity for him, it was too much work on one person, and of course leads to things take time to be re-filled, although the guy was working super fast!

Although it comes up in searches for hotels, this is a hostel, and not a very good one. The individual rooms are overpriced for what they are: very small and cheaply outfitted. It was around €90 a night. The building doesn't feel secure – anyone can walk in and get to the rooms. When I arrived (Friday evening) there were a lot of drunk people in the halls to the rooms, including two who were falling-down drunk, one of whom was aggressive. I could hear loud arguments from two rooms. The staff didn't seem to notice and certainly couldn't see who was coming in and out. The lifts are very small – too small for a wheelchair – and they're difficult to operate with a bag. The floor of the single room that I had was dusty. The shower and toilet hadn't been properly cleaned. There was rubbish, including soiled underwear and tissues, in the bin in the bathroom. The bed was very uncomfortable and the towels were very cheap and rough. The fan in the bathroom wouldn't shut off so there was a constant loud buzzing noise. When I complained, the first response at the desk was "you have a guaranteed booking so I can't refund your room." That's all he cared about. I don't think anyone should stay here at that price; and I'd even think carefully if it was a third of the price. There are better hotels with fairer prices and much better customer service.

I stayed two days, they are good-humoured and helpful. Its not close to train station i think you should walk 15 min. Breakfast was week but functional for me. The rooms are airless but not all of them.
