Max Brown Midtown3.0 out of 5.0

I booked Max Brown because I'd passed it on a previous visit to Düsseldorf and it looked supercute and fun. It was, but with some distinct problems. First of all, rooms are tiny. TINY. I was staying by myself so I had no problem, but had I brought a friend or partner we would have had trouble getting comfortable. Next time I'll either book a bigger room or make sure I don't spend too much time at the hotel. Walls are paper thin. I heard TVs, bathrooms being used, and yes, some intimate behavior as well. What's more, I was booked in the '03' line, which was right next to the elevator shaft. It took me about a day to realize what those constant metallic clanking noises were, but they kept me up at night AND woke me up in the morning. Internet, although free, was unreliable. It worked, but since you had to click a "Terms and Conditions" button and physically connect through a separate pop-up window each time, if you left your computer or device alone for 10 seconds it disconnected and you had to go through the process again. A bit ridiculous. Lastly, I was rudely awakened on my final morning at 8:15am by housekeeping. I've stayed in hotels my entire life and have never EVER had this happen. I mean, wouldn't you at least wait until after breakfast? In any decent hotel, housekeeping would have a list of those checking out every day and of course would wait until those people had left. I was checking out at 11 and had consequently set my alarm for 9. Why were they so desperate to clean my room at 8:15, when even most business travelers might not have left the hotel for the day yet? All the same, I thought the bed was exceptionally comfortable and bathroom large. I liked the bath products and the shower pressure was excellent.
Max Brown is a small "family type" hotel in downtown Dusseldorf. The rooms are small (though not smaller than average in large European cities), but very well equipped and maintained. The bartender is also the receptionist, and was very nice. The beds are wonderful and the shower is great. Good old German hospitality reasonably priced.
We stayed at "Max Brown" hotel in Dusseldorf for 1 night and it was an amazing experience, first at all the location is excellent , only 10 minutes walking from the central station ; the atmosphere and the design of the hotel and the rooms are fantastic and the breakfast was delicious , abundant and healthy. In addition , the room rate was very convenient, so when I have to go back to Dusseldorf, "Max Brown will be my choice, without hesitate.
Stayed here one night for business reasons, easy acces, parking next door. Friendly staff, enourmous breakfast. City center. Quiet, nice (small) clean room. Coffee bar and nice Seats to work a little. Very nice location, will recommand this one for 100%
Great place to explore Dusseldorf old town and quite close to the main station. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the decor is quite cute and quirky. Breakfast service is decent too. Loved how big and cozy the bed was! Though my stay was mostly enjoyable, there are some downslides. I got a really small room which was hardly bigger than the actual bed. There was very little space to open my suitcase (and I had brought a medium-sized 24" one) and no matter how careful I was when showering, the bathroom floor got super wet. If ever, there are bigger rooms, so I am thinking they'd be much more comfortable if you could pick that, especially if you're more than 1 person. Lastly, the walls were quite thin, which means I could hear toilets flushing, neighbors chattering at night, so if you're a light sleeper - this might be a problem.
Max Brown Midtown is a fantastic hotel and a place I would highly recommend. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and also speak English very well. The night manager, Tim, was especially enjoyable chatting with late night over a few drinks at their lobby bar. The rooms are small but efficiently arranged in classic German fashion. There is even a little vinyl player with some records, which I thought was very cool! The bed was also extremely comfortable and made for a great night sleep. This hotel is an excellent value and right in the middle of where everything is in the central of Düsseldorf. Looking forward to next time!
After touring art shows in Germany for 2 weeks, Dusseldorf was our last stop for one night only. We hesitated to book Max Brown because its "concept" seemed to be too much for a hotel. And actually it was great surprise: the large room(302) is super comfy, bed, linen and towels are great, bathroom products are excellent. The staff is professional and friendly, check in took less than 5mn and check out was happy! The breakfast was varied and rich! A really attractive place, if you want to change from impersonal hotels.
Hotel has a US East Coast/surfer vibe in an attempt to appear relaxing and chilled - its different but doesnt really work. Room was reasonable size but lots of unnecessary stuff in it (eg record player) - bed was big and hugely comfortable. Rooms clean and comfortable. Reception staff very friendly & helpful, breakfast staff tended to 'hide' in the kitchen. Located close to numerous restaurants and the main shopping area. Tea/coffee facilities in room + safe.
Over priced teeny tiny in every way imaginable "boutique" hotel with absent minded staff and over hyped products! We had to call 3 times for a fan as there is no air conditioning. Original room booked was a larger category then received and had to wait to be moved. Nice pleasant seemingly attentive twenty somethings in charge but little experience. Ridiculously small rooms. For the price stay at.m Hotel Nikki.
Firstly the staff were amazing. Professional, friendly and helpful (two ladies on front desk 20/06/2017 one dark hair one blonde). The room was funky but totally useless for business, here's why: 1. There was approx. a foot between the bed and the wall. 2. Shower is tiny, but amazing pressure which means you flood the bathroom. 3. The safe is tiny and my surface would not fit. 4. No fridge - it was 32 degrees. 5. No air con (as above) 6. 30+ channels but only BBC news and CNBC for those English speakers. 7. Couldn't open the windows as they hit the headboard. 8. No chair to sit on. 9. No lock on door. It did have a basketball hoop, colourful kettle and a record player but would prefer to have air con, a fridge and some English tv channels.
