Decor and staff and general standards represent the Japenese nature of this very well located Hotel.Small bar and relatively small dining room give it a comfortable almost "homely" feeling . The bedrooms are extremely well equipped with some rooms having cooking and microwave facilities . Bathroom good with more than adequate supply of towels toiletries etc The only one possible niggle is that its a bit dark for shaving .( something that many hotels suffer from ) That's the only downside to this otherwise pleasantly different Hotel . Breakfast is very comprehensive Western Scrambled Egg Bacon etc but complemented by a wide range of Japaneses items for the substantial Japanese clientele ( if you want an omelette just ask ). Take your pick of fresh" ground-bean-to-cup" coffee ,an impressive range of green and flavored teas or Miso soup . (Indeed a better breakfast offering than several UK based Hotel i can mentions !! ) Like many city hotels parking looked limited with only a few places on front . Overall my stay was a pleasant and comfortable experience in a Hotel representing the best of Japanese Hospitality standards.
Comfortable hotel in a great location for public transport. The hotel is basic but has the essentials. The room was big enough and comfortable for what I required. Easy access to transport. the reception staff where very helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel caters for the Asian Market. The breakfast was a Japanese breakfast @ 20 euro. I found the mini bar not to be overly priced either. The wifi was slow and not consistent.
For a smaller hotel it did have some amenities these other hotels do not seem to have in the rooms. First, it has a split air conditioner which is a must if you are here over he summer. Second, it had a phone in the room. Seems reasonable to assume every hotel should have phones in their rooms but that is not the case in many European hotels. Breakfast was ok, both Japanese and German. Service was quite friendly and efficient. Price was the best for that day which is how I ended up here in the first place. Otherwise, my go to hotel is "Me and All" hotel three blocks away.
Booked at short notice for a business trip, everywhere else was fully booked or exorbitantly priced. Room was quite large with two wide single beds. Free high speed WiFi. Efficient air conditioning. Buffet breakfast was a simple affair: continental and Asian options. Was also able to have a meeting in the lobby over several hours without charge. Based in the Japanese quarter of Dusseldorf it is also very close to the main train station. In summary nothing spectacular but ticks all the boxes for short business trip.
This would be an excellent business hotel. Everything was new and comfortable. Not much character or wow factor, but nor do they claim that. Staff were superb. Great location near city and train station.
Very good price performance hotel. Practical. In the Japanese area surrounded of Good Japanese restaurants. Very good and polite personnel. Will come back. The rooms are big and clean. The breakfast can be improved.
My visit to Hotel Asahi came as pretty much of a downer. The Hotel is at a walkable distance from the Dusseldorf Hbf station though if you have heavy bags with you, you might want to take the cab. My booking here was for a smoking room done via Booking.com. The Hotel had listed out smoking rooms on the website but when I reached there they informed me that they are a totally Non Smoking facility. They had no clue as to why they were listed wrongly on the Booking website. The Hotel is pretty basic and does not offer you a restaurant. The nearest restaurant is around a 10 minutes walk from there, which is fine if you have the time on hands. The Hotel is in the middle of a Japanese district of some sort and most of the restaurants there cater to that theme. They were closed during the day, when I was there. However, I did manage to find a burger joint. The rooms are pretty basic and I found them to slightly over priced based for the value they gave you. I must say that they have done a pretty good job at displaying the pictures on their website as in reality the Hotel doesnt really look anything like they want us to think it does. Perhaps the only saving grace of the Hotel is that its close to the Station, but then again there are lot of other such hotels in the same area which were cheaper (I had paid the extra price because it said it offered smoking rooms). That said, the staff was pleasant and the breakfast was quite good. I would probably look for some other place to stay when I am in Dusseldorf, next.
Reception staff very friendly, room was described as a suite, old fashioned, pokey bathroom, VERY VERY noisy with road traffic and no air conditioning. Breakfast was ok, train station just over the road, I would never stay at this hotel again and how it has received 4* is beyond me, I paid almost 500 euros a night to stay here (fair week)and feel totally ripped off.
We are staying tonight at this hotel. It is in need of refurbishment. The entrance to the room is very shabby - skirting boards missing, a socket falling off, badly painted. The bathroom is minuscule and there is not a lot of water coming from the shower head. The room is quite hot too. At a €234 room only is quite appalling. Will never come again
I personally liked the size of the rooms compare to other hotels in Germany and other parts of the Europe. Also, I was pleased to see the accessories like Microwave over, induction gas, along with bath-tub. So, overall I will say a good value for money. Hotel is slightly old, I mean room bed-sheets, cushions , mattresses etc. are kind of outdated. So I would recommend hotel to do little uplift and it will be really a good value for visitors.
