O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel

Staff helped me get flight boarding passes printed. Just across the street from The Ginger Man a nice pub for locals, wonderful atmosphere.

Hotel Very. Old. Not maintained. Really for low. Level bus groups only!

Great location next to Trinity College and within walking distance of Temple Bar. Friendly staff had great recommendations for services and dinning, including Kennedy's Bar and Restaurant right next to the hotel. Nice breakfast was included. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Overall exceeded our expectations.

Unlike many big cities, Dublin does not feature a good subway system, so we wanted a good hotel at a decent price near our points of interest, which included Trinity College and the museums. And we got what we wanted in the O'Callaghan Davenport -- a grand older hotel with class and character, in a great location, and at a good price. It's interesting and a bit confusing online that the O'Callaghan company has several properties within a couple of blocks, but the Davenport was the closest to our destinations, and the lowest price. Check out Kennedy's Tavern, just outside the door, for a great meal, and O'Donohue's, just a few blocks straight south, for authentic Irish music. We especially liked that we could check in early, as our flight arrived in mid morning, and we were able to have our room as soon as we arrived -- a REAL PLUS for travelers from the States! We would definitely recommend the Davenport to anyone!

We wanted a hotel that was within walking distance of major attractions but was in a quieter neighborhood, and this fit the bill. The rooms are good; the hotel bar area was nice but service was mixed, too many people and they are quickly overwhelmed. Food can be ordered in the bar but there is not a restaurant.

No air conditioning in the entire building, room decor was old and mismatched. Staff was very friendly and attentitive

Perfect location, staff extremely helpful and pleasant.

Friendly staff, room a little tired. Bar's Guinness tap was broken on a Friday night (just poor timing), and coordination amongst the bar staff was a bit loose. Decent breakfast, sorry we missed out on Afternoon Tea for lack of reservations. One block away from a stop for the citysightseeing hop-on/hop-off tour buses, which worked out great. Ginger Man pub across the street was a nice place to duck in for a bite and a pint.

It's clean, the workers are nice and it's in a decent location, what else can you ask for?

quiet area but close to city center. Excellent breakfast. Room ready when we arrived jet-lagged at 10 AM!

Our window looked on a metal building, we expected better based on the cost of the room.

Nice hotel. Staff good. Room clean but carpet a little date. Shower could use some re-grouting. Worst part of the room was a flashing light on the smoke detector over the bed. Truly annoying.

Nice hotel. A bit out of the way. Quiet at night.

The hotel is very well located, very clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bar would benefit from an update. Overall I would be glad to stay there again.

This is a quaint, old style hotel off Merrion Square. Very well located for visiting all the museums and Grafton Street and directly across from The Ginger Man, a friendly pub serving up some delicious food. The reasons it was not a perfect stay: no washcloths, no hair conditioner, the bathtubs are weirdly very narrow on the side away from the tap making for a very uncomfortable soak if you are any thing larger than average. They say they have 24 hour room service but if you want anything past 10:30pm when the restaurant kitchen closes, you will have the choice of a very sad ham or chicken sandwich and that's it. The fish and chips from room service were good but the mushy peas seemed to be from canned. Also, dual taps and beware the VERY hot water. Overall, I enjoyed my stay despite the minor bumps. The staff were friendly and helpful I was able to check-in early from my flight that arrived at 5am. I think if you come prepared and know these limitations it is a very nice place to stay.

I was extremely impressed by everything about the O'Callaghan Davenport. A beautiful exterior a modern, spacious, clean, and comfortable room with many amenities and a simply incredible location. I would highly recommend it.

Nice hotel at a good location. Reasonable priced. Clean and excellent customer services.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. the room was larger than expected, clean, comfortable bed, and quiet.

Lovely hotel for a couple. Quiet area but in walking distance to great restaurants and central town. Big room (compared to European hotels at least) and a comfy bed. We loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book there again.

This hotel was the first "railway" hotel and is supposed to be haunted--no ghosts for me but it was really great to stay in the historic property in such a comfortable bed. If you are coming from the London area and taking the train to catch the ferry to Dublin, I highly recommend staying here and exploring Chester as a side trip.
