I had a business meeting in Dublin on a Saturday morning so decided to stay down the night before. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and very easily accessible from the motorway, it was also good for a city centre meeting at the weekend, it only took 25 minutes to drive into town. The bedroom was well appointed and clean. The bed was comfortable and warm, but the mattress did sag a bit in the middle. The shower was very powerful and warm! Breakfast was served in a lovely morning room overlooking the gardens and fountain and it was all rather idyllic. The breakfast was served from a buffet though I only took cereal, tea and toast. Would definitely recommend the hotel and would use it again.

We were at a wedding and it was just brilliant. The staff were excellent and friendly. The rooms were big and spacious. The food was out of this world and plenty of it. The location is great with beautiful gardens and animals in the fields. Everybody commented on the brilliant food and the wonderful staff, really want to go back again and enjoy the wonderful food and service, cannot compliment this place enough. We done to everyone on the great job you are all doing.

The hotel is nice and charming the breakfast and dinner is good. The leisure centre is big but it is not opened all day. The rooms are big and everything works as it should. So we can truly recommend to stay here!

Our daughter took us to Finnstown Castle hotel in Lucan, for afternoon tea last Friday. I've experienced many afternoon teas, to the extent that I'm a bit tired of them. However, last Friday in Finnstown restored my faith in it! The sandwich selection was excellent and I had one of each, despite not being a sandwich lover. The scones & jam were delicious. If I have one small negative comment, it's that we the tiny dish of cream was a little miserable for three people. However, I'm sure we'd have received another if we had asked, as staff was very helpful. The tiny pastries were first class, both in selection and flavour. Top marks, Finnstown Castle Hotel!

My aunt got married here last Tuesday and from start to finish everything was AMAZING. We checked in the night before to a big spacious room over in the Studio which for 4 people plus a hair dresser & makeup artist needed to be in. We got a lovey full Irish breakfast to the room the next morning & the breakfast staff couldn't of been nicer! We then needed water etc brought and this was all done within minutes for us. A big special thank you to Elaine ( Wedding Co-Or) & Jason who looked after my aunt & uncle for the day until we all left the next day, they were so good them & were by there side through it all. From the ceremony outside to the meal to the DJ to the set up of the room & most of all to the staff who we dealt with that day thanks so much for making my aunt & uncle's wedding perfect for them :)

I attended a wedding at the hotel in the middle of July and stayed for three nights. I made the reservation directly with the hotel and their replies were quick and welcoming. I had bed and breakfast and the price was very reasonable. My arrival was Saturday evening and the hotel was busy. There is ample car parking. Check in was courteous and efficient. It was my first trip to Ireland and the hotel has a large selection of brochures of places to visit in the area and throughout the country. There is good and free WiFi throughout the hotel. I really liked the room. The furniture blended in perfectly. The bathroom was well equipped and good shower pressure and nice fluffy white towels. The room overlooked the front of the hotel. There is a tea and coffee tray. The bed was very comfy. I had the buffet breakfast every morning. There us a wide choice of hot and cold items and the server bring a pot of coffee or tea to the table. With a nice Irish breakfast you don't need lunch! The bar was always busy and you can order drinks and food from a server or directly from the bar. The room next to the bar has the style of a country house. Old photographs on the wall, sofas and comfortable chairs with small tables for drinks and food. There was always a lively and happy ambience. I was there for a wedding and the bride and groom arrived by helicopter which was very impressive. The helicopter belongs to the hotel and lands close to it. The wedding reception was superb and the food excellent. The hotel is setback from the road. The road from the gate to the hotel entrance is about 500 yards (meters) with field on both sides. The hotel has some peacocks, a donkey, a pony, some lamas and an ostrich, all living happily together! Although I had hired a car it was easier to take the local bus to and from Dublin. The bus stop is at the end of the hotel road and buses go every 20 minutes. It is a great way to see the surroundings from the top deck. The buses also have free WiFi. I was very fortunate that during my three days the weather was perfect. Clear skies and very warm. Not many people return from Ireland with a sun tan but I did! So all in all, a great three nights at a welcoming hotel that offered a relaxing stay and value for money. I'll definitely be back!

There is a lot of negatives but little positive about this stay on 6th August 2017. We arrived at the hotel at 3pm and our first impression was that the receptionist was wearing a dirty blouse which was not ironed. She told us the room was not ready and give it 5 minutes and she would come and get us from the bar area. 45 minutes later we went to reception and she was gone, another girl who was better presented gave us our key. We were put in Studio room 120 in an outbuilding opposite the main part of the Hotel. We entered the room and heard a noise coming from the sink which was like a dripping noise apparently caused by trapped air in the pipes. The Maintenance man was called by the cleaner and he came 20 minutes later for fix it. My wife then found out when going to the toilet the seat was almost completely detached and I noted the TV had voice description on UTV and being from NI this would be our channel of choice no one could turn it off. We booked this hotel because of the advertised pool and Gym facilities which was not actually more than a plunge pool. The gym was over cramped and very poor as well and the equipment seemed very old as well. Unfortunately due to the delays getting repairs done and the 45min delay checking in we would only have a maximum time of 45 minutes for the gym and pool. it closes at 6pm on Sundays. The changing rooms were terrible and dirty with lockers no bigger than a small handbag size so we could not get everything in. Also the key they gave us was equipped with any band you could wear to swim with it so had to be left on the side of the pool, We got into the pool only to find green slime on the top edges of the pool so we got out. This is a major health hazard and the pool was in a major state of decay. The girl looking after the gym was informed about this and said it does not come off, I informed her I ran my finger over the pool and it was slime as it came off all over my finger. O i reported all the problems after this to the receptionist again who moved us to the main hotel room 43 which was a slight improvement. The rooms were badly designed and very dated not what we expected from the photo's on the site. We did have a Dinner deal so we went to dinner the first course was overcooked brie, the main course was good and desserts were good. Breakfast the next morning was the worse I have ever had in any 4 star hotel. The Finnstown Breakfast was a greasy spoon quality breakfast with poor quality ingredients good in poor quality grease. I have had better in my life from a road side trailer. All of it was overcooked, Hard Eggs, what appeared to be deep fried sausages, Needless to say we will not stay again. On booking out I said it was not a good stay to the receptionist who said she could not discount anything and that the manager had been informed and would phone me. This never happened and was not a surprise. We stopped primarily for the pool and gym which was the worst part about the stay and due to the delays could not enjoy these facilities even if they were usable. the food was not worth the money either. The staff in the bar were abrupt and sometimes rude with their attitudes. Most staff were quite scruffy looking and did not know how to serve people in anyway whatsoever leaving customers to chase them down to get served. Take this as a warning and pay no attention to the reviews on their site I believe they only put on those which show a positive light on the hotel and omit the negative ones.

Check in at reception was a pleasure lovely to see an Irish person front of house I don't care what you say but you can't beat an Irish welcome. Our room was fresh clean and a nice bit of old school. All in all I would put this hotel and a country house hotel comfortable with an old world charm the staff were so good just there to please. The dining room is charming the food was perfect my steak was one of the best I had in a long time my wife's hake cooked to perfection. Room service was prompt with one of the best room served breakfast I ever had. We stayed two nights and could not fault anything. Finnstown castle top marks .

amazing food and service as always!! the steak is second to none. The garden is great for photos! myself and my wife hope to get married here. The menu has a great choice. This is a very classic hotel

Great hotel in a manor with additional oubuildings. Grounds include many amenities in a royal setting. Set up for weddings, but accommodates all, including families, at a very reasonable price! The room we had overlooked the tennis court. Windows were partially covered in vines creating a very carefree view. (Just know that the high, bright lights beyond shined into the bedroom at night. The roller blinds did not cover the lights unless you blackened the room completely. If another set of roller shades were installed half height, then you can still have the evening sky without blinding lights.) Otherwise, the room was oversized and clean. There was unlimited internet, without any access issues, available throughout the site. The beds were ok, but not as soft as I expected. They did the job and i slept well. The windows have no screens, which was great for the view! Oddly, there were no bugs. (I'm not sure how they trained the mosquitoes from entering the room!! Awesome!) The bathroom was very clean and modern, but i found the shower head to be extra sensitive. I thought the walls were paper thin, but I believe that's how they all are. (Sorry if my kids woke you up, but the newlyweds could have kept us awake during the evening!) The site staff were fantastic, although a bit slow serving our drinks. Then again, in all fairness, there was a wedding and I'm sure they catered well to the newlyweds.) Maintenance staff quickly addressed a thrown power breaker (sorry!) and the quickly arranged for a cab. The on site restaurant with no added charge hot breakfast buffet was grand. Everything was available. Finally, the site was gorgeous! Old growth, trimmed bushes, flowers, and several water fountains. There was also an ostrich, pair of peacocks, horses, and a very friendly cat. The site had a yoga studio, gym and tennis court. Oddly, no swimming pool like most chain hotels. (For the kids, the friendly cat made up for it!) There was even a helicopter on its heliport on the grounds! Posh! It was a very quiet location (no urban traffic.) I would definitely come back again, either with or without our children. Full score from me.
