This hotel is well maintained and has good facilities including Gym, Pool, Bars etc as well as well maintained gardens ideal for weddings. it also has a newer section with very good rooms. Their is within walking distance a few shops and a local pub if you wish to get something to eat elsewhere, also their is good parking in front of the hotel

Okay I really really tried to give this Hotel an Average. The setting is beautiful and, as it does look like a manor house, I wasn't expecting ultra modern or anything. But there are some shortcomings here that I feel I should mention in fairness to the other hotels I have rated as Average: The staff are okay but certainly not friendly. The person at Reception was pleasant but I had to ask her for breakfast times and that was the sum total of information she gave me. The waitress in the Bar was okay but again not as friendly as most of the waitresses we have had in Ireland. No elevator but we were on the first floor in the annex so not so bad. The room (111) was spacious and very nice looking. However it only had a roller blind on the window, no curtains whatsoever. Which meant that, as it faces the leisure center and we could see people standing outside the center, they could see us. And at night the lights in the parking lot blazed in. So the blind had to come down completely blocking any light or view. And when we wanted the blind up, it didn't go back up easily, we had to roll it up. Beds are spring mattresses, no topper. Still they were comfortable so that was okay despite beginning doubts. No top sheet so you have to have the complete duvet on if you want to be covered. It was warm (cooled down in the night) and there is no a/c (not really a problem for us but just an observation) so I would pull the duvet up and then push it down--all night. But the BIG complaint was when I went to take a shower. The bathroom is very nice looking but when I turned the shower on before I got in to the tub) the shower swiveled on its stand (see photo) and hit me full force, drenching me, my nightgown and most of the bathroom. I tried to tighten the shower but it is broken. I am glad we are traveling by car because my nightgown is drenched--will try to dry it out in the boot. I could say more but I think that's enough. This hotel would be okay for tour groups (just check that the shower stand is tight!) or if you realize this is more like a 3 star hotel.

This hotel is on the outskirts of Dublin. It's a short ride to the airport but close to everything. It's a nice hotel but the elevator was broken so we had to carry our suitcases up and down some flights of stairs. The bathroom fan didn't work but the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The food we had in the in the restaurant was very good. Everyone we dealt with was nice. It's a non smoking hotel but there was a strong smell of smoke in some of the hallways. The grounds were pretty. We had a good stay there.

Good food . Not much gluten-free available-I'm coeliac not a faddy! Daughter (23)had chowder- nice but said mine is better- creamier and more fish!!I had Sticky toffee pudding- not gluten free. I knew this but only option was pavlova- sick of that. Breaking diet was worth it as it was delicious . Coffee nice- black no sugar so better than many hotels - not burnt. Quick service- staff might have assisted door opening for me as I am currently on crutches. Not easy to get to the toilets.

I cannot even explain how beautiful this place is. We arrived several hours before check-in, so we walked the grounds and discovered the menagerie of animals who live there: Alpacas, donkeys, a pony, an ostrich, and peacocks. We decided to do afternoon tea in an exquisite, dated room that was just perfect for afternoon tea. Sandwiches, scones, and cakes were included and it was just really enjoyable. This area and its two adjoining rooms also served as bar and restaurant. There is also another restaurant across the hall. The grounds and first floor were what really blew me away, but the room itself was lovely. Breakfast was delicious. Staying in this hotel was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland and the decision to spent a night in a castle was one of the greatest I've made regarding this vacation. I would love to visit again!

A party of four of us had booked Sunday dinner. The waiting staff were all friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly I had the beef which was nice and tender. Lemon tart also nice for desert and raspberry cheesecake. The dinning room is particularly lovely decor. Would visit again.

6 of us who meet up a couple of times a year for lunch visited Finnstown Castle Hotel at the end of May. We had a lunch in the bar at 12.15p.m. which was all set up and tables reserved for Afternoon Tea!!??? Between the six of us there were 4 different dishes ordered off a very indifferent menu. I only wanted a salad and there was only one which was the Chef's Special Salad of Goat's Cheese...perfect I thought! It was the last lunch to be served in our group, basically a bowl of gem lettuce leaves, a few slices of cucumber and some soggy crumbly goats cheese all of which had popped under the grill to give a tinge of brown on the cheese which subsequently cooked the lettuce & cucumber. I ate the goats cheese only, which did not taste like goat's cheese and left the rest. When the lady took my plate away she never asked if everything was alright even though went back almost the same as it came. The turkey and ham came stacked on a huge pile of mashed potato with a horrible brown gravy, but served with nice vegetables. There were two burgers ordered one with bacon and one with blue cheese, they both came with bacon and the chips order never arrived. The service was absolutely appalling, we waited ages for everything including the drinks which came with wrong drinks too. This place is in beatuiful surroundings, and is popular for weddings but Oh my goodness never again for lunch.

We spent 2 nights in finnstown last weekend. the hotel is lovely and the rooms great quite big with tea-making and a large on suite the bed was really comfortable the breakfast was lovely and you could eat as much as you liked and then the gardens are out of this worldwith plenty of seating with a large fountain great for photos we will return there again

The setting is very impressive on arrival. I had dinner in the restaurant. There was 4 very drunk, middle aged men at another table. They propositioned the waitress inappropriately on a number of occasions and used foul language throughout. Though the establishment is not directly responsible for their behaviour, they should have been asked to leave. The room was clean but dated and in a separate building. I left some toiletries behind so tried to contact housekeeping on a number of occasions to get them back. I also left a message with reception to return my call but was unsuccessful. I won't be returning.

Was very busy with lots of different parties & not prepared felt it was over booked & some of the staff needed training. We got wrong menus an item of food previously ordered not included on the 2nd menus. Children's high chairs requested well in advance of the day not available. Service poor. We got large pot of tea with one tea bag to serve table. Asked in Bar 2 get hot water 2 heat baby's bottle & nothing to put water into I felt anxious wit hot water but not concerned for broken glass from bottles close to fountain & alot of children playing in area. No apology made at any time, very impersonal & no Management seemed to be overseeing the business. The location of place lovely. Will not be rushing back.
