Flights to Saba Island land at Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport. Rumor has it that the airport's runway is the shortest in the world, that is, at 400 feet. Hence, it's considered one of the world's most dangerous airports, and this is why jets cannot land there. The only planes that can attempt a runway this size are smaller planes like BN-2's and DHC-6's. The only commercial airline servicing the island is Winair, which offers flights to and from St. Eustatius and Saint Martin. Taxis meet every flight into the island. They're all government-regulated, so the fares are fixed. If you're going from the airport to the Windward side of the island, you'll pay $8, whereas you'll pay $12 to go to The Bottom.

Saba Island is a rocky, volcanic island that rises steeply out of the ocean. Its lush scenery makes it ideal for ecotourism. Check out the Tide Pools at Flat Point to take in the amazingly sharp, jagged cliffs that seem to rise out of the water. Crystal-blue pools of water surround the cliffs. Take pictures of the little gingerbread houses that dot the area of the island called The Bottom. Saba has a mild, temperate climate, with temperatures hovering around 80°F year-round. Summertime temperatures can get even hotter, rising as high as 88°F. Nighttime temperatures can get quite chilly, so make sure to pack a sweater for the evening.
